Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations
It kinda makes sense if you add it up. His early years have a relatively low count since he wasn't working full time. Then after WCW and 1999-2005 WWF/E he came and went numerous times, often with long periods off. And last year, even though he is one of AEW's top guys, he only wrestled 25 matches

Based on the timeframe on the book, Hart would've beat both Wizard and Blassie to NY. I think he explains why it didnt happen, but who knows what the real story was

The "chapter" on NY is a joke. Hart never worked for Vince Sr, hence the chapter being blank

There's definitely a significant amount of 1980-85 AWA out there. Have no idea how difficult it is to acquire these days, but there used to be a lot between youtube and dailymotion last I checked, not to mention alternative means if one is so inclined

Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan
I'm pretty sure Heenan was always a manager/wrestler outside of very, very early on. He was a top (the top?) manager in Indianapolis when he was only 21, or maybe still 20

Comic books and Manga Thread
Yeah, those are good points. Honestly, I skimmed a lot of the dialogue throughout. That's just how I read a lot of modern (for me, last 10-15 years) comics, and some of the old comics too. I'm a "let the art tell the story" guy at heart, especially with traditional superhero comics. And the point about decompression is absolutely correct. The last few issues were extremely drawn out, with Jet Black flip flopping back and forth. Definitely a story that could've been told in 5-6 issues instead of 10

Roddy Piper
Regarding Piper as a babyface, one of the things that really impressed me with him new footage wise since the last GWE was his match with Jose Estrada from 8/79, taped for WWF All Star Wrestling. This was Piper's first match in Hamburg, where they taped All Star, and literally within a minute after the bell rang he's over like crazy as a face with the crowd, due to his fire and charisma. I was also surprised because when I read about Piper's cup of coffee with WWF in 79 I always assumed he worked heel, but it makes sense, though, as he was a face in Portland at the time. Anyway, yeah, Roddy was a great face, instantly able to get a new crowd behind him. Just realized this is kinda a tease to those with Peacock and not the Network if you haven't seen it before lol

Roddy Piper
Yep, if 80s Piper and Valentine dont interest you yet, a deep dive would be a waste of time

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
It was in their library after the TNT ep and they probably needed old footage for the opening, with the theme of the evolution of wrestling, so someone decided to use it

Thesz was on an early ep of TNT and they played a bit of that match then

2026 Ideas
There are five years until the vote, longer than the First World War and nearly as long as the Second. Chill people, there is plenty of time

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Just want to say it's nice to see a lot of veteran posters return in the last few months and a bunch of new posters pop up in the last few weeks. Sure, there's been an increase in arguments, and some outright hostility, but at least the board feels alive for the first time in years. But I'm probably just feeling nostalgic these days...

WWE TV 04/12 - 04/18 Roman Reigns is the Dream Crusher, the Tribal Chief AND the Head of the Table.
Good for Virk. I thought I recognized the name. He was on various Canadian sports channels back in the day from what I remember

Roddy Piper
It's from the same Hamilton show where DK hurt his back and was never the same again. I've seen it. Just crazy heat from what I remember

2026 Nomination Thread
Love the ballsy Kaufman nomination. Shit, you sold me. Huge fan of the Kaufman Memphis stuff. In fact, the only wrestling t shirt I own is an image of Lawler about to piledrive Andy. I think when I get interested in wrestling again I'll deep dive this stuff because I know I haven't seen all of it, like the match vs Hart. If I do a list I'll definitely find a spot for Andy

Comic books and Manga Thread
Yeah, it seems like if you didnt nab them when they first came out you can't find them in brick and mortar stores. Amazon is largely expensive/out of stock. Ebay is way too expensive with shipping factored in

Comic books and Manga Thread
I would buy the trades but they're bloody expensive and/or out of stock/print. My library system has a bunch of them, so I'll probably go that route. It's a pain in the ass, because they were all on Kindle free with an unlimited subscription (Comixology unlimited is unavailable in Canada because of reasons) until last September or so and then they were pulled

All I can find on Kindle for Astro City are a few single issues but none of the collected editions. Nothing on Comixology

Welcome back the fans with a heel win sounds like WWE all right

Wrestlemania 37
Reading this without watching the show makes no sense. So they started in a rain delay and now people are doing random promos to kill time?

Comic books and Manga Thread
I get that, coming after such a long and acclaimed run, it would kinda be ignored at the time. Honestly, I was only interested in checking it out to see JR Jr on a Cap book
