RIP Butcher Vachon
I knew after Virgil died another wrestler would pass away shortly. Never fails Butcher and Mad Dog drew big money as a team in the 70s. He body slammed Andre. Had a memorable wedding on an early TNT

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Yeah, seems like it's going to be tricky to release the Netflix doc anytime soon, since I believe Vince was heavily involved in it and thus it is presumably not an objective look at the man. There's no way you can release anything about Vince now that is anything but severely critical of him as a human being. Apparently it was very close to a release date before the last scandal broke. Netflix being partners with WWE would seem to prevent them releasing an edit that totally tears Vince down. Will be interesting to see what comes of it

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
I believe it's Bobby Jaggers. He did commentary with Hugo on a bunch of tapes from around then

RIP Ole Anderson
This is one of the greatest bits of pro wrestling ever. RIP

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I think it came up here at some point that Green Shirt guy has a job that allows him to work remotely and with a lot of flexibility, not that he's fabulously wealthy or anything. No idea where that info came from

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I meant if you have such contempt for wrestling and its fans why do you even like it

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Then why are you here?

WWE TV - 2/12 - 2/15 - Shanahan Not The Wiseman We Thought He Was
Lord knows we didn't need another Chiefs SB win, and Mahomes becoming more and more a 21st century Jordan-level worshipped-like-God athlete, on top of the obnoxious Swift-Kelce lovefest, but as an Eagles fan I'll take that result every day of the week. Suck it, Deebo

2026 Nomination Thread
Markoff passed away yesterday. Just watched that Inoki match a few days ago based on your recommendation. It was great. Let's nominate this guy!

OJ's WWWF/WWF thread
Yeah, that's an all-time favorite underrated match for me. With the Bruno feud, plus the amazing Putski match and this one, Zbyszko had such an incredible 1980

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I was struck by this note, mentioned in passing, from an article on the Observer site about TKO asking Vince to resign "One source noted to the Hollywood Reporter that had Grant's lawsuit been filed earlier, the $5 billion deal with Netflix may have been put into jeopardy." So, did TKO just luck out on the timing of the lawsuit or, conspiracy time, did they perhaps influence the timing? Edit: although I guess they probably wouldn't have let Vince be part of the whole NYSE thing a few days before if they knew about the lawsuit

OJ's WWWF/WWF thread
Just saw Andre/Garea vs Sarge/Moondog Rex (yes, really) from the Spectrum, April 81, for the first time a few days ago, and it was quite good actually, especially the Andre/Sarge interactions

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Yeah, I realize that now. Worst case he loses a bit of his money. Poor guy. I guess he may be finally banished from the company if public outrage is loud enough

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I know, right? When I read that part I thought "I can't believe this piece of trash is actually pulling the same bullshit he did with Stu Hart when he stiffed him on payments for Stampede back in 1984" Yeah, I'm in the wrestling bubble Seriously though, if all this is true, even though I thought Vince was human garbage before, this is so fucking gross. I hope Linda takes his ass to the cleaners and he ends up locked away

Yeah, I may have been too hasty...

Why is America always assumed to be the centre of the wrestling universe?
Use @ before the name

Is the empire stronger than ever? (for two days lol)
Yeah, if Okada isn't portrayed as a big deal in WWE from day 1 what are we even doing here?

Is the empire stronger than ever? (for two days lol)
Sounds like internationally Netflix will get the Network content, similar to Peacock in the States Per the Observer site: "Also part of the deal, Netflix will become the primary home outside the United States for WWE shows like Raw, SmackDown and NXT in addition to premium live events, documentaries, and original series traditionally seen on WWE Network. That element also begins in 2025."

Is Impact* the best wrestling promotion in history? *(Now TNA again, 2024)
On mobile, you just have to click on the 3 dots from the first post you made in the thread you want to change, click edit, and then you will be able to edit the thread title in addition to the post. Not sure why editing a thread title isn't an option under the moderation actions tab for a thread someone has created. I just happened to stumble on the solution

Finally figured out how to edit the thread title lol

The Iron Claw
And it seems the box office has likely slowed too much for it to challenge The Wrestler's record. I'm not sure how wide its international release has been so far though

Is the empire stronger than ever? (for two days lol)
Time to finally stop using the crumbling thread, at least for news of WWE success, no? WWE on Netflix may get me interested again, who knows. Coupled with Vince being gone from creative, things overall seem to be way better than when I stopped watching in 2019

WWE TV 1/22 - 1/28 MY CLIENT BROCK PURDY
Yeah, will not watch SF vs KC. Really only interested in Detroit vs KC or Bal, but hard to emotionally invest in a cursed team like the Lions

OJ's WWWF/WWF thread
Damn, we should've at least got a MSG one and done with Bob and Saito. I never really considered it before, but now I'm sad we didn't get it. Vince and Gorilla being strangely antagonistic with each other is a weird footnote in WWF commentary history, as they only did a handful of shows together before Vince stepped away from the booth. Two Alpha's I guess

OJ's WWWF/WWF thread
The old story goes that Vince Jr wanted Bob to turn heel, specifically by dying his hair and doing a punk rock gimmick and Bob refused and quit. God knows what that would've been like but I guess it may have got him involved with the Rock n Wrestling MTV stuff
