World Cast: A WCCW Review
World Cast What If...?: WWE Hidden Gems 2 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-what-if-wwe-hidden-gems-2 The latest Hidden Gems drop on the Network got the boys excited (well, more Pete and Kelly than Johnny) so they decided to take another brief break from WCCW to talk about it. This drop is all about famous "shooters" in wrestling, looking at... -Karl Gotch/Rene Goulet vs The Rugged Russians 1/22/72 Boston Garden -Danny Hodge/Jos LeDuc vs Pak Song/Toru Tanaka 11/12/74 Florida -Billy Robinson vs Rick Martel 5/19/83 Winnipeg Arena -Nobuhiko Takada vs Athol Foley 8/12/83 Stampede -Lou Thesz vs Wild Bill Longson 6/17/52 Sportatorium, Dallas A great time was had by all, and if you love random history talk about all kinds of wrestling legends and territories, this is basically the only podcast you will need to listen to for the rest of 2018 (excluding more World Cast of course...and eventually the Mount Olympus 1966 special...and all the great shows on ProWrestlingOnly.com...but other than that, nothing else)

Mae Young Classic 2018 thread
First ep of the second round kicked ass, one of my favorite wrestling shows of the year. Satomura winning made me pop like a kid again. Kacy had a star making performance. Some really good talent on display here

WWE Network... It's Here
Yeah, stairs with rail was unique to the Boston Garden

WWE Network... It's Here
Yeah, they were the tag champs at that point. It was a short reign and I believe it only lasted another week or so, losing to the Baron and Iaukea Edit: Actually, if the date on the MSG show is correct, they dropped the straps the very next day in Philly

WWE Network... It's Here
Pretty sure the MSG match is new. Also excited for Thesz vs Longson and Danny Hodge footage

Introducing ... Charting the Territories
This looks interesting. Coincidentally, Johnny Sorrow and I will be looking at the year 1966 on an upcoming Mount Olympus podcast

World Cast: A WCCW Review
Episode 47 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-47 February 26, 1983 (WCCW 61) With episode 60 seemingly lost to time, the boys march on to episode 61, and oh boy is it a big one! We get not one, not two, but THREE massive, game changing debuts, folks: -Iceman Parsons: He's cool as hell and Armand Hussein doesn't stand a chance -Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin and Sunshine: He doesn't want to be filmed but she likes to film people (and was she hanging around the Spectrum in 1979 by chance?) -"The Man", General Akbar: Devastation Inc. now has a leader and he's dangerous Plus we get a little match, just THE FREEBIRDS VS THE VON ERICH'S FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER as our main event. Yeah, this ain't 1982 anymore

World Cast: A WCCW Review
Episode 46 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-46-a-quick-one February 12, 1983 (WCCW 59) All that remains from this episode appears to be Ric Flair vs Terry Gordy for the NWA title. That's good enough for the boys though, since who needs more Armand Hussein, amirite? So sit back and listen to a review of a match not found on the Network. Here's the YouTube link https://youtu.be/Hg7t_PDyYcU That's all for this week, because Skype and recording technology were being difficult. Next week we promise an exciting review of a show featuring the debuts of Iceman Parsons, Jimmy Garvin and General Akbar!

[1971-03-15-WWWF-MSG, NY] Pedro Morales vs Blackjack Mulligan
Holy crap was there some serious heat during the pre-match introductions. Wizard pelted with garbage. Pedro as beloved as Bruno in MSG. Fun match. Mulligan green but super over as a heel. Great size differential to make Pedro look even more impressive in victory. Worked at a brisk pace for the time. Pedro was a pretty strong babyface at this point, much more impressive than 10 years later as IC champ when he was often phoning it in

World Cast: A WCCW Review
Episode 45 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-45 February 5, 1983 (WCCW 58) The Freebirds are takin' ovah! NWO, eat your heart out, the 'Birds have a ton of gold and are running the Sportatorium by the end of the show. Things are not looking good for our heroes, that's for sure! Also on this episode... -The Great Yatsu continues to impress, and perhaps inspires Brian Adias to start looking for a new territory in the process -More change in Dallas, as THE Checkmate departs (unfortunately after a mess of a match with David) -Lunch with the Freebirds -A hot main event between Kevin and Terry Gordy for the American title

HELL IN A (red) CELL 2018
Throw out the Hell in the Cell stupidity bookending things, this was a very good show
- HELL IN A (red) CELL 2018
-
HELL IN A (red) CELL 2018
And some say the NWA title match at All In was overbooked
-
HELL IN A (red) CELL 2018
Great match
-
HELL IN A (red) CELL 2018
Total Divas: we've come a long way baby
-
HELL IN A (red) CELL 2018
How does anyone follow that? Seriously, one of the dumbest finishes I've ever seen
-
HELL IN A (red) CELL 2018
Well, I've never seen that before, if nothing else

I think a lot of old promoters like Watts valued the Observer as a directory for other territories, which was important back in the days of slower communication, and that's why they subscribed more than anything

Random Newsletter Stuff
I collected Wrestling Eye at the time and was only 9/10 years old. I remember feeling it was different than the other mags but not being sophisticated enough to understand a lot of the content. It was where I learned Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo were brothers, which felt like privileged information at the time because it was never mentioned on WWF TV
