OJ's WWWF/WWF thread
Rose really should've gone to Crockett when Piper put in the word and I believe there was an offer. Not sure exactly when this was, but I would guess maybe 1980-81 when he was at his peak in Portland and he didn't see the need to mess with a good thing

OJ's WWWF/WWF thread
Hmm, I dont think I've seen the Oct Bob v Pat, only the Nov match that I remember being a letdown. Need to get around to that, it sounds great

'Nature Boy' Buddy Rogers
Yeah, 1982 Philly tag is surprisingly awesome. Rogers holds up his end for sure

Not a work, just people with giant egos and too much money living Peter Pan lives in public. Of course it's totally fucked up

OJ's WWWF/WWF thread
1975-Fall 1982 main event scene in New York is probably my all-time favorite wrestling. Undercard is also strong at times, but not so much 75-78. Add in the crowds/atmosphere/commentary/promos, there is so much gold

RIP Terry Funk
Not surprising, but his NY Times obit claims WWE was where his "career exploded" and basically implies that it was minor to major leagues professional advancement when he went there in 1985

RIP Terry Funk
Probably the best ever, really. He excelled in every possible way that we measure greatness in wrestling, all over the world and for so many decades RIP

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
It seems like there was a lot of ass kissing of Hogan by PWI in 94. The worst example being when instead of getting the traditional plaque for winning Wrestler of the Year he was given this giant ass trophy that I don't recall anyone else ever receiving

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
This brings me back to how disappointed I was almost every year in the 90s when i bought the awards issue and saw Bret didn't win Wrestler of the Year. I guess maybe 94 was his best chance, but I remember being pissed he didn't even place in 97. Then Montreal happened and I didn't care anymore lol

SAMS Ragtag Yearbook 1981
MSG vs Adonis is definitely an all-timer. I remember a Philly match between them being very good as well

SAMS Ragtag Yearbook 1981
Yeah, that's an underrated great match. That 3 match series between Bob and Sarge in Philly is probably my fave from Backlund's reign. Haven't seen the 2nd match in years. The cage is a classic. Those two had great chemistry

Legends' House 2.0
Billy Jack Haynes in a Legends House type situation would be the greatest thing ever put on TV, wrestling or otherwise
-
Dark Side of the Ring
He had also been temporarily fired in late 86, right as his big feud with Piper was heating up, so yeah, things must've been pretty bad

WWE 07/10 - 07/15 - Two Tribal Chiefs? In This Economy?
Yeah, I haven't watched WWE since pre-pandemic and really still have no interest in watching anything they produce, but I've got to tip my hat to them for booking an angle with such impressive staying power, critical praise, and, to top it off, being responsible for turning things around business wise and delivering consistent big crowds and ratings

Rap N' Wrestling
I'm almost positive there was a thread about this years ago but I can't be bothered to find it Czarface is pretty much exclusively wrestling and superhero references in their songs

AEW TV - 7/5 - 7/8
I was confused earlier. I thought this week's shows were in Saskatchewan and next were in Alberta. But they are going AB-SK this week and then SK-AB next week, doubling back, which is kinda screwy

AEW TV - 7/5 - 7/8
It's Saskatchewan week for AEW! Wild

People who only had one match in a company?
Brian Pillman wrestled on exactly one AWA show, against Ric Flair in an NWA title match in May, 1990. To make this even more strange I believe this match came about because WCW borrowed the Destruction Crew for a few shows, to wrestle the Steiner's under masks as the Minnesota Wrecking Crew II, and this is what AWA received in return

AEW TV - 6/28 - 7/1
Didnt Jungle Boy start wrestling at a ridiculously young age?

AEW Forbidden Door 2 - 6-25-23 - Okada vs. Danielson
Not every match needs a million finishers and 2.9 kickouts. A nice contrast to Omega-Ospreay

AEW Forbidden Door 2 - 6-25-23 - Okada vs. Danielson
Perfect finish, even if it caught the crowd by surprise
