Wrestle Kingdom 11
I've come to love the meaningless mid card stuff of the 80s, mostly WWF. I don't know why, maybe because I dislike most modern wrestling and this kind of wrestling doesn't exist anymore. Stuff that bores most fans to tears. Mundane, unpretentious wrestling as far removed from star ratings and greatness as you can get. Two guys pretending to fight in their underwear. Pro wrestling

Wrestle Kingdom 11
A wrestling world where everyone aspires to having a Meltzer-defined 5 star match is the darkest timeline

It's become the Super Bowl, same 5 or so locations in rotation

WWE UK Championship Tournament
WoS is on a major TV station with far greater availability than anything WWE is on. That is why they were maybe concerned, not because they feared being outclassed production wise

WWE TV 12/26 - 01/01
Considering this is the traditional slow season and the second of two December shows after Survivor Series and before the Royal Rumble looked pretty unimportant, I'm not sure any real conclusions can be drawn about how cold the promotion is right now. If interest isn't increased by the build to Mania going forward and things continue to decline, then yes there are big problems

Where is the line?
This board is great, really I don't think anything else comes close based on what I've seen. The mood of the board has definitely changed over the last few years, noticeably as the focus shifted from praising old school stuff to more concern about the current scene. Still, some of the battles between posters were even more heated in the past, and threads were as contentious then as now. What's different seems to be the mood of the times, with everybody wanting to get political and draw battle lines claiming to be either this or that, left or right, blah blah blah. Personally I hate politics and find the discussion tiresome. But I can ignore it. I don't think anything needs to be done as far as increased moderation. Those who will get banned will bury themselves eventually. They always do. The GWE definitely did damage to the board though. A lot of people left after that or cut back on their contributions it seems. And people are moving to Twitter and leaving the musty old message board behind. Can't fight the future. I've been retreating more into the past though. Anyway, this is still a great board. Times have changed. All I can say is celebrate what you love and fight the urge to be negative and complain and trash wrestling in your posts. Nobody wants to read that

Place to Be Podcast Thread
Piper was undeniably the hottest heel in wrestling at the time. Flair was actually a babyface in the Carolinas at that point, and wouldn't go full heel until the end of 85 with the formation of the Horsemen

I love that match. Haven't watched the whole show since I was a kid, but have seen matches here and there. Horrific commentary

"The Unpredictable" Johnny Rodz (aka The Jobber Thread)
Johnny Rodz vs Carlos Colon - 8/1/1977, MSG Random review here, as I'm watching the whole card just for the hell of it. Some people love puro, some love lucha, I love the 70s. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Colon wrestled in the WWWF in the late 60s, and last appeared at MSG 2/17/69. He was a frequent opponent of Rodz during that stint. Here though, the King of Puerto Rican wrestling enters the ring to silence. Vince Jr says "the fans here don't know much about Carlos", and to add insult to injury ring announcer Jack E. Lee announces him as "Carlos Ca-Lon". Rodz sucker punches Carlos at the bell and gets heat. Colon out fashion watches Johnny with a wonderful floral design singlet. To his credit, he is able to win the fans over when he makes his comeback, busting out not one, but two hurricanranas(!). Rodz bumps like a madman, which meant he respected Colon, as he wouldn't leave his feet for just anybody. After nearly 7 minutes, Colon wins with a victory roll. Not a good match overall. Nothing really in the way of psychology or heat. Rodz makes Colon look good if nothing else, and bumps more here than in most matches. Merry Christmas everyone. And remember, at the end of the day we all love wrestling, it is the most awesome form of entertainment ever created, and it comes in all shapes and sizes. With the 70s obviously being the best First match on the card https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFTB7fZOPNY&t=25s&list=PLV6RCTo_Cd0BXlaewfw9iR2lIqGUQqfdl&index=11

Roadblock: End of the Line
Only watched Sasha vs Charlotte but I thought that was an amazing match. Really dramatic climax, like a team giving up the lead on a 4th down td as time expired and then finally being overwhelmed in ot after a grueling battle. I thought the leg work on Sasha was done extremely well
