  1. Major thread bump to announce I'm finally doing a friggen podcast on this subject. This month is the 40th anniversary of the fight, plus a new book is going to be released about it that looks pretty good https://www.amazon.com/Ali-vs-Inoki-Forgotten-Entertainment/dp/1942952198. Anyway, here's what I posted on Facebook earlier One week from today, Johnny, Pete and Kelly will record the first Titans Two-In-One, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the famed Muhammad Ali vs Antonio Inoki match from June 25, 1976. Titans of Wrestling #62 will be an in-depth look at all the hoopla surrounding the fight (including Ali fighting wrestlers in the AWA!). The boys will look at how it came about, how wide-ranging the tie-ins with the territories around the USA were, and of course provide analysis of the fight itself. Then on Mystery Titans Theatre, join the boys as they watch not only all 15 glorious rounds of Ali vs Inoki but also Andre the Giant vs Chuck Wepner from Shea Stadium. Look out for the Titans Two-In-One in just over a week fans!
  2. I have a friend here in Vancouver who is a big wrestling fan going back 30 years and has been into the PWO podcasts, but it was the hype around the top 100 reveal that finally got him to really explore outside the WWE/modern bubble for the first time. Now he's trying all kinds of 80s stuff and getting into guys like Murdoch and the Destroyer
  3. Can anything be done about the time on the board? It's been running almost an hour behind for about a week or so. It bothers my sense of order
  4. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. We always have a blast doing these and it's rewarding to know our efforts are appreciated
  5. I guess you know you've made it when the smarks critique your work. Drop Some Snowflakes While Your At It!!! Joking aside, with the songs, I checked for something contemporary to the content then basically went with my first impulse. Nothing too well thought out
  6. Harv and Gurv are the Bollywood Boys here in Vancouver, and they are a great act
  7. Ditto
  8. It's true, I believe that's how the uncut version of the Bret Hart-Chris Benoit tribute match for Owen Hart ended up doing the rounds on the trading circuit before they put it out on the Benoit DVD. --- Does anybody know why the Midnight Rockers vs. Buddy Rose & Doug Somers match seems to be missing from WrestleRock '86? Loads of places have it listed but unless I skipped right past it, it's nowhere to be seen? Here's a Talking Heads music video with a couple of still frames of it at 1:47: Pretty sure that match is on Dailymotion
  9. Thanks guys. Yeah, I wish I could pump them out faster but it's been pretty time consuming to do what I've already done. Once a month is the goal for now
  10. http://placetobenation.com/at-the-garden-presents-bruno-sammartino-the-italian-strongman-1960-1965/ The series debut of At the Garden is the first of a four part spotlight on "The Living Legend" Bruno Sammartino. 11. Didn't realize the Jumping Bomb Angels were so highly regarded. Glad to see it because I like them a lot
  12. Meltzer's bio on Ali is awesome
  13. Another great Takeover. Really loved the tag match. Nak vs Aries and Asuka vs Jax were both very good. Cage match was good but I felt they didn't take it to that next level, and not just because there was no blood. Also, they need to choose between either having a ref in there or escape the cage rules, don't have both
  14. Takeovers have delivered time after time, and on paper this looks like another hot show. Personally, I want them to say fuck it and let Balor and Joe bleed buckets. Should be a blast Andrade "Cien" Almas vs Tye Dillinger American Alpha vs The Revival Asuka vs Nia Jax Nakamura vs Aries Joe vs Balor Cage Match
  15. http://placetobenation.com/tag-teams-back-again-episode-17-the-fabulous-ones-vs-the-moondogs/ Kelly and Marty are back, this time journeying down South for some hot 80s Mempho tag action! Matches examined tonight: Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl 9/4/1981 Fabulous Ones vs Moondogs 4/4/1983 Fabulous Ones vs Moondogs 5/2/1983, Stretcher Match Fabulous Ones vs Moondogs 6/13/1983 Fabulous Ones vs Moondogs 1/9/1984, Anything Goes New Fabulous Ones vs Pretty Young Things 5/18/84, Falls Count Anywhere New Fabulous Ones vs Phil Hickerson and The Spoiler 6/25/84, Tennessee Street Fight
  16. Barring any unexpected delays, the first part of my At the Garden spotlight on Bruno Sammartino will drop Friday, June 10. This installment will cover 1960-1965, featuring Bruno's rise to the top of the wresting world and his famous battles with Buddy Rogers, Gorilla Monsoon, Killer Kowalski, Bill Watts, and many others
  17. Haiti Kid is Little Mr. T. Maybe it's just how I worded it (and I did not that he was back to being Haiti Kid by Mania III, at least in the WWF) but I was asking if the Mania 2 association was how he got the gimmick and if he had Mr. T's blessing on it.I think the point is that Little Mr. T in the AWA was another person, not the Haiti Kid. Although I'm not 100% if that was the case though
  18. This is totally based on 30 year old memories, but his best work was Stampede 86-88. He was the top heel there and was a perfect asshole, and great foil for a young Owen Hart. Very funny promos and interactions with Ed Whalen. Nothing groundbreaking but some good solid heeling
  19. One of the greatest sports legends of all time. Ties to wrestling include being influenced by Freddie Blassie and/or Gorgeous George for his promo style, famous mixed match with Inoki in 1976, guest ref at Mania I, and involved in Mid South angle with Jake Roberts and the Snowman in 85. Plus Gorilla Monsoon gave him an airplane spin once RIP champ
  20. Ricky Jackson replied to Woof's topic in WWE
So by that logic, Nak has no chance on the main roster Balor will be just fine
  21. I think you may be right. He wrestled Inoki frequently in Japan and in Florida for CWF but not for McMahon Sr. There is the unitentionally hilarious 10 minute scientific exhibition on TV vs El Olympico from 1980
  22. Ricky Jackson replied to Woof's topic in WWE
I'm assuming the post Takeover build will be for Joe vs Nak at the Summerslam weekend show. Bring Balor up soon, and maybe have him put over Nak on his way out?
  23. Dream Team beyond criminally low
  24. That Thesz vs Gagne match is one of the matches I've enjoyed watching the most in the last decade. Amazing Need to get around to some of these other matches you're pimping, especially the Broadway with Rogers
  25. Here's the whole card for listeners to enjoy at home. If nothing else watch the 2/3 falls tag between Garea/Travis and Rodz/Estrada that starts around 37 minutes in. Legit awesome match
