They pipe in the noise on Rampage when the crowd isn't hot. This crowd wasn't this loud for Dynamite. I just noticed tonight that they are using the same sound effect for most moves and now I can't un-hear it.

They are using the exact same crowd sound effect for every move. It's distracting.

Flair finished first overall last time and his career will always be linked to Steamboat. Curious if anyone will actually be ranking Steamboat over Flair. I personally think Steamboat has the better case in the 90s but how can you compare his 80s run to Flair's?

Despite only lasting halfway through the decade, you could argue Steamboat was the best pure American babyface of the 90s too. I think his 90s run holds up as a top 10 American based worker for the decade.

The Fujinami match from 88 is better than anything I've seen from Tenryu in the US. Very small sample size but also inconsequential.

Really a toss up depending on the day. Both guys along with Bockwinkel come the closest to overtaking Funk as the goat for me. I lean towards Tenryu because I plain just like him more and also feel he was more versatile in the different roles he could excel at compared to Lawler. I'm not a big fan of Lawler's hide-the-chain heel work or when he tries to work a straight, non-brawl. On the other hand, Lawler's got some great performances as a heel in the 70s, fared better in Japan than Tenryu did in the US and has maybe the most longevity of any wrestler ever when it comes to quality output, understanding what they're still good at it and making it work. But Tenryu in his prime through at least the WAR-New Japan feud is the closest to giving me everything I want out of wrestling. Great heel, great face, sometimes in the same match. Super violent and also super giving to his opponent. I don't think Tenryu gets enough credit for his creativity in 87-91, all the little things he tries in his matches which only a few years later he's going to be physically unable to do.

Arguably the current best female wrestlers in their respective countries. Who will you rank higher?

Really what does Jericho overachieving and Windham underachieving career wise have to do with who was a better worker? Windham was a natural talent IN THE RING and Jericho wasn't. Windham had loads of great matches and performances during his prime. Jericho didn't. Jericho had more charisma and was a better talker and a smaller guy during a time when size mattered less and less. Is Jericho being an overachiever overblown? Is anyone rating Miz over Windham because he wrestled WrestleMania main events and had multiple world champion runs? It seems like an apples to oranges comparison. Jericho, less talented worker who had a more successful career with less quality in-ring work versus Windham, super talented worker who never became a huge star or the goat in-ring. Somehow that equates to valuing potential talent over output? Windham smokes Jericho on in-ring performance.

A guy with a lot of nothing, throwaway, pedestrian matches during his prime. If the match wasn't about showcasing Bret in some special way he could really phone it in. I think his input negatively effects his candidacy more than his output when you look out how often he delivered uninspired, listless performances.

I hate the expression, "(so-and-so) is a revelation", that you see overused any time an actor throws out a solid to good performance. But that's the feeling I got from Lothario when the Houston footage dropped. I may have overrated him at 50, but maybe I didn't.

That's true about Coppola though But that's my point when comparing the Greatest Wrestlers Ever. I have to look at both the positive and negative to separate number 1 from 100 and Savage is a guy that I see much closer to the latter and I feel like he gets by too much on nostalgia.

Nah go back and watch Savage matches before you commit to childhood memories. If you still feel that way, you feel that way. But so much of of Savage's WWF run is rote as hell. Outside of the 3-4 famous matches what else is there? I've seen the same tired ass routine matches with the same tired ass finishes too many times. What is Savage's prime? I feel like Savage, probably more than any candidate not named Bret Hart, gets the benefit of the doubt without the the backing. I say this as someone more inclined to rate Savage than Bret, despite having seen more good to great matches from Bret.

Fair enough lol. Although I think Funk would place a high value on a worker making others look good in the ring, which is something Tenryu was elite at.

To be clear, I don't think Tenryu was great either until his mid to late thirties. I'm just saying when he's compared unfavorably to Jumbo for their early career work, he wasn't positioned in the heirarchy to have the same showcase opportunities ie long AWA/NWA world title matches in the first few years of his career like Jumbo. Once in their respective primes there are a lot of great tags/6 mans matches where Jumbo is the third forth or fifth best guy in the match and a lot of nothing singles matches. He tended to coast a lot when he was the veteran/"superior" worker. The first Misawa match is more memorable than great. Whereas once he figured it all out, Tenryu was rarely boring.
