[1997-10-18-ECW-TV] Brian Pillman tribute
I will always remember the blurb on the Observer Pillman bio where Shane Douglas suggested Pillman to be his opponent at the 1997 November to Remember and Paul's response was that Pillman wouldn't live that long. Sadly prophetic.

[1997-10-13-WCW-Nitro] Raven vignette
Obviously Raven's act doesn't get over on this board, but I grew up on grunge, and I thought the concept of a whiny grunge heel blaming everybody else for his issues was awesome.

[1997-10-13-WWF-Raw] Jim Cornette promo
Whether or not that was Jim's verbage, I have little doubt he was irate that Muschnick used Pillman's death to call for a WWF boycott and was thrilled to bury him for doing so.

[1997-09-22-WWF-Raw] Cactus Jack vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley (Street Fight)
This match is at the top level of "garbage" brawls. It doesn't say much for Vince that he thought the WWF crowd wouldn't know Cactus Jack.

[1997-09-14-WCW-Fall Brawl] Ultimo Dragon vs Alex Wright
Wright has an awesome heel act. Someone should steal it, it would still work today.

[1997-09-07-WWF-Ground Zero] Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker
Agreed. This match is well worked as part of a bigger story than viewed on a stand alone basis.

[1997-09-01-WCW-Nitro] NWO Four Horsemen Parody
I agree with the sentiments that while this is awesome, it is Pro Wrestling 101 that if you bury the faces to this degree, they have to get revenge soon after.

[1997-08-17-ECW-Hardcore Heaven] Jerry Lawler vs Tommy Dreamer
I hated this match when I saw it on PPV. I must've been too young and dumb to appreciate it, because I watching it in 2013 I thought it was really good until the interference.

[1997-07-06-WWF-Canadian Stampede] Bret Hart & Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith & Jim Neidhart & Brian Pillman vs Steve Austin & Goldust & Legion of Doom & Ken Shamrock
This reminds me of the very best parts of territory wrestling. The hometown hero's vanquishing the hated heel in front of a molten hot crowd. This match never gets old for me.

[1997-06-08-WWF-King of the Ring] Shawn Michaels vs Steve Austin
The small details like Austin arguing with the Harts on his way to the ring, are what has been missing from WWE for a long time.

[1997-05-26-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin & Shawn Michaels vs Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith
Between this match and Lawler/Goldust this is a top shelf Raw.
-
[1997-05-18-WCW-Slamboree] Ric Flair & Roddy Piper & Kevin Greene vs Scott Hall & Kevin Nash & Syxx
If more non-Cena faces went over in this strongly in blow off matches, I'd imagine that wrestling would be more popular. For all the very legitimate criticisms thrown the way of Hall & Nash, this match was exactly what it should have been.

[1997-04-28-WWF-Raw] Vince McMahon and Bret Hart
The beauty of this lied in the face that Bret pissed and moaned about Shawn faking a knee injury for months before this and than its strongly implied that he is doing the same. Classic heeling.

[1997-03-31-WWF-Raw] Owen Hart vs Davey Boy Smith
I would go so far as to put this on part with the Austin Wrestlemania match as Bret's best performance. Owens facials when Bret cuts the promo are also top notch.

[1997-03-10-WWF-Raw] Jerry Lawler and Paul Heyman: The Great Debate
Paul is in the top shelf of all time great promos in my opinion. There's a dozen or so in that league, but his ability to passionately get his point is peerless.

[1997-01-25-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Shaquille Ali
There is nothing more pro wrestling than Tracy Smothers turning heel and renaming himself Shaquille Ali...in Memphis...to go against Lawler. Thus rules.

Shoots Review and Preview thread
I will co-sign the Embry/Corino shoot as really good. They did spend a a lot of time on the beginning of Embrys career and rushed through the stuff Embry is known for, but still worth the $15.
