[1991-02-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jeff Jarrett
We got someone doing a postal service gimmick. Jarrett thinks Adams should have slapped his ex-wife Jeannie upside the head. Ugh. Well it is because Jarrett doesn’t think she is a lady so it’s okay to do it. Jeannie slaps Jarrett in the face for those comments. Well deserved. Austin saves and we have some brief action in the ring but no official match.

[1991-02-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Eddie Marlin, Jamie & Bill Dundee
Jamie Dundee is not doing a good job of referring as he’s more interesting in chatting with Jeanne then counting pinfalls. Eddie Marlin has a fit and has the match stopped. Jamie says he can’t be fired. Dad says that Jamie should go ahead and quit. Take his referee shirt off and go get a job at McDonalds. Bill with some great fatherly advice. Bill ends up disciplining Jamie by spanking him repeatedly with a belt! What a fun end to this segment.

[1991-02-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett vs Fabulous Ones / Interview: Jerry Lawler
Fargo letting the guys wrestle and not be too involved until he catches Lane with powder in his hands. Fargo knocks it into Lane’s face. Stan is not happy and goes to try hit Fargo with the racket but Keirn stops him. Good guys win in the end. Seems really quick to already have the Fabulous Ones at each other like this. Gilbert runs in so he’s back again. Ones are back on the same page by the end. Fireball into Lawler’s face! Well this makes the previous USWA-TX make more sense when Lawler was showing the effects of fireball. So the story now is this was all a conspiracy with Cornette, Fabs and Gilbert to collect the bounty from Funk and make it seem like Gilbert was kicked out of the territory. Where is Terry by the way? Lawler is a suit! Jerry gets a few words in before Gilbert shows. They brawl and knock over Dave Brown’s desk. Bunch of wrestlers separate them.

[1991-02-09-WWF-Superstars] Update: Career vs Career at Wrestlemania
Warrior wanted a match at WrestleMania and said if he loses he would retire. Forgot that Warrior put his career on line first. Macho agrees to the same stips with his own career. Didn’t have to do that Randy. Savage talks about have a better career and ranks himself higher than Warrior. Both guys deliver some good serious promos.

[1991-02-08-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett vs Steve Austin & Rod Price
They do the digital burry screen when Jeannie rakes Jarrett in the eyes. I guess this is fall out from issues last year. But then Jeannie uses powder and then don’t blur that out. So it must be direct contact between women/men that is not allowed. Was hoping for a bit more between Lawler/Austin but really just working the headlock against one another. Though it was nice to see Austin in there with somebody besides Adams.

[1991-02-08-CMLL] Los Brazos vs Kato Kung Lee & Super Astro & Volador
Brazos throw their weight around in the first fall. Big fat guy top rope splash. Brazos are now having issues and I’m not sure what this is about. Poeky is crying. Porky celebrates with the Tecnicos after they win the second fall. He’s threatening to walk out too. Confused what brought this on. Didn’t think this match was too good and below the other Brazos matches from 90.

[1991-02-02-WCW-Saturday Night] Barry Windham & Arn Anderson vs Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner
The fans love Anderson’s spinebuster. He’s real cocky though and waits his time before going for the pinfall. Just felt that Horner/Armstrong had no business going this long with Anderson/Windham. They put up a lot of fight but didn't like the ending. We don’t even get a clean finish with Doom interfering. Reed and Simmons don’t seem to happy with each other.

A Call For Picks
I feel bad as I like the concept of this with watching a random non yearbook match and commentating on it but I just never got around to watching something from the subject. That's just me being busy with other stuff to watch and not being much of a fan of watching matches through the internet on my computer. I was in the middle of the Colon/Hansen match but bailed on it when people talked about needing to watched their earlier matches first to understand feud. Hopefully I get around to watching all these at some point.

[1991-02-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Fabulous Ones & Jim Cornette
Cornette plays the violin after watching the Fargo video. Strutting from the Fabulous Ones. Cornette talks about the deck being stacked against The Fabulous Ones. He takes a shot at Fargo’s age. Kiern and Lane do not agree with Cornette as far as going after Jackie Fargo. Jim harasses the ring girls and wants them to take off. Kiern has been in totally agreement with Cornette to this point. But they are not to hurt Jackie Fargo. Jimmy is not happy.

[1991-02-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler, Jeff Jarrett, Jackie Fargo and the Fabulous Ones
Lawler drops a great one liner to studio fan about saving his breath. Stan Lane hits a couple piledrivers on Jarrett. Jeff survives them though. Frank Burrell gets knocked out as Lawler hits the piledriver. Jamie Dundee who was refereeing earlier matches comes down and disqualifies Lawler for using the piledriver. Interesting. Belts are held up though due to the decision. Return match signed again with Bill Dundee be in the corner to keep an eye on Cornette. Lawler lets us know Jackie Fargo will be the special guest referee. Classy video of Jackie Fargo and putting over him and how he was a mentor to the Fabulous Ones.

[1991-02-02-WCW-Pro] Arn Anderson & Barry Windham vs Ricky Morton & Tommy Rich
Teddy Long shows off his PWI Manager of the Year award backstage. Western Union is still around these days. I don’t seen any commercials for them anymore. Don’t know if it’s the audio but crowd seems subdued. Rich has not been able to replace Gibson yet. Teddy Long and Ron Simmons show up ring side. Horsemen end up getting counted out. Crap finish. So this feud continues I guess.

[1991-02-02-WCW-Power Hour] Arn Anderson vs Bobby Eaton
Anderson pulls the hair to get the extra leverage on a overhand wrist lock. Bobby nods in approvement and then smacks Arn in the face with a back elbow. Ross mentions the troops in Persian Gulf. This stuff really dominated wrestling at this point. Jim also mentions how El Gigante has challenged Flair for the World Title. Love to see that one. Each guy tries to use the ropes for leverage with Arn getting the advantage. Nice little match but nothing special.

[1991-02-01-WWF-The Main Event] Wrestlemania Main Event announcement / Interview: Hulk Hogan
Okerlund talks up the number one contenders to the Slaughter’s title at WrestleMania. Duggan is one of the candidates. Sure. Jack Tunney after deep consideration picks Hogan as the one to challenge for the Title. Savage got ripped off here. Slaughter will do whatever it takes to keep the title. We get our first Pukeamania references by the Sarge. Jesse was using Pukesters back in the late 80's though. Back to ringside with Okerlund and Hogan. Hulk is ready to go to war with Slaughter and Adnan. Ugh. Hulk plays up the Persian Gulf war and his Hulkamaniacs. Slaughter is protected by the rights of Americans. Hulk gets silly with talk of Slaughter drowning the Hulkamaniacs with gallons of oil and shooting them with Scud missiles. Hogan leads the fans through the Pledge of Allegiance.

[1991-02-01-WWF-The Main Event] Sgt. Slaughter vs Jim Duggan
Big corner bump by Sarge. Camera work was good catching him in flight to the floor. Chair shot to the head gets Slaughter disqualified. Hogan tries to save but gets a chair shot too. Slaughter spits on Hogan. Hulk holds up the US Flag with Duggan at his side. Agreed that Hogan could have sold a bit more the beating.

[1991-02-01-USWA Texas] Rumble Royal
Rumble Royal? Doing their best to rip off WWF. Pinfalls allowed though. The crowds really went to crap. I thought Gary Young did enough to stay in the ring but looks like his elimination was not planned. WWF does these matches the best. This was a much better effort than the battle royal we saw in AWA in 1990 though. Dane in the final two though?

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Taking the train from Boston to New York for WrestleMania so looking for a good wrestling book to read for the trip. Suggestions?
