[1990-06-02-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Road Warriors vs Barry Windham & Arn Anderson
Sid is still wearing his tux. Arn thinks the Road Warriors can be beat. Sid didn’t even say anything. Flair piles on the Road Warriors. Sid provides some scouting to Arn and Barry. Animal no sells a suplex. Animal blocks a foot stomp. Horsemen start using some team work to get the advantage. Hawk gets the tag in and cleans house. Sid takes off his jacket and hits the ring and we get the disqualification. Or maybe not as the match seems to resume. Ole shows up though and Sting and Orndorff come to the aid of LOD.

[1990-06-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Lawler is good at delegating authority. Lawler doesn’t feel like dirtying his hands on someone like Dundee but will still get the bounty. He's keeping busy with all these feuds.

[1990-06-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler and The Snowman / Jerry Lawler vs Freezer Thompson
Lawler was not impressed with Snowman’s performance in previous match. Van Lane (sp?) needs to iron his jacket. Lots of wrinkles. Some lovely ladies join us. Here comes Snowman. Lawler ain’t scared. Lawler scheduled for a match. Hey Harvey. Lawler getting into it with some fans. Lawler tagging Freezer with some lefts and gets the victory. Marlin trying to calm things down with Snowman. Crowd were good.

[1990-06-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler vs The Snowman
Snowman with a wild left to start match. We get a nice slugfest and things seem really intense. Different feeling to this one. Lawler with the ground and pound. Ref ends up calling for the bell. Ah, too soon. As a main event it is very short it s quite something to watch and crowd were into it.

[1990-06-02-WWF-Superstars] Ultimate Warrior promo
I can’t understand Warrior due to audio. But it’s probably not any different than his normal promos.

[1990-06-02-WWF-Superstars] Nikolai Volkoff vs Boris Zhukov
I’m immediately intrigued by this match listing. Boris doesn’t sing then Russian national anthem as good. Nikolai lets us know he can sing better and belts out the USA anthem. Jesse calls Volkoff a traitor. Zhukov uses his boot to destroy Volkoff. Match was too short.

[1990-06-01-USWA Texas] Kerry Von Erich vs Matt Borne (Cage)
Pringle is lifted above the ring which is kind of scary. They gave him a mic though. Cage match. Kerry is quick to use the discus punch. Pringle does his own commentary. Kerry seems to be all discus punch/iron claw at this point. Borne gets his face raked across the cage. USWA TX picks the worse time for commercial breaks. Kerry really does rely on the discus punch. Percy lowers a chain into the ring. Kerry steals the chain and knocks out Borne. Good match but felt short and Kerry was bad compared to Borne. Pringle gets lowered down into ring. Borne nails Kerry to save Pringle.

[1990-06-01-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Bill Dundee
Dundee making out with the female fans. Lawler is wearing his Ninja Turtles tights. Jerry rags on the local teams and calls Tessa a slut. Dundee can exchange punches with Lawler. John Tatum shows up ringside to go after Tessa. Tatum tries to run off with Tessa which gets Dundee involved. Lawler uses this to advantage as rolls up Dundee from behind. Tatum and Lawler go to work on Dundee after. Heels get tagged by Dundee and Jarrett after match.

[1990-06-01-EMLL] El Dandy vs Angel Azteca
Nice tuxedo tshirt. Fink or Whippleman should have worn one of those in their matches. Dandy has the sweaty Cornette brow before the match starts. Simple stuff like Dandy holding a leglock and Azteca trying to kick off is nice. I am loving Dandy's back drops. That first fall was just insane. Amazing stuff with the mat work. Check out how Azteca just drags Dandy across the ring when he has him in a leglock. He does it again! Dandy returns the favor with his own leg lock. This submission stuff is great. Eventhough it was a counter, I totally felt like Dandy set up Azteca for that second fall. Big dive to outside! Fans get out of the way in time. These pinfall exchanges are great. Hey,I am still a Lucha novice. I scoffed at some of the praise I have seen on this board regarding how El Dandy is ranked. But I was blown away by this match. Non Lucha fans really need to watch this one. Just incredible. The mat work was so great. Both guys were awesome. Definitely one of the best matches of the year so far.

Wrestling Culture Podcast Episode 35!
Normally I couldn't listen to people talk for this long but this was a great show other than the Bret jokes. I thought everyone made good comments about their guy. Flair is Flair and I do have criticisms of him (which Loss did well to respond to) But felt that Dylan and Will had more work to get me thinking about Funk and Lawler mostly due to the lesser of footage I've seen on them. Really want to check out Funk as a face in early AJPW. Hopefully some of this made it to the 80's AJPW set. I've only seen bits and pieces of Lawler outside the yearbook so will need to track down more of his stuff from the 80s. Specifically, I want to see matches outside the studio/TV matches which can be too short to judge. Most of all I think the podcast got me excited about just watching more wrestling. I liked how the Funk/toolbox part of a match made it into the discussion about Terry. Only he could get away with that. Really enjoyable spot when I saw it.

[1990-05] People Magazine: Jerry Lawler
Lawler wearing a mask? Lawler says people love to see violence. Narrator talks about how everyone is after Lawler to help boost their resume to make it to another federation. Some kayfabe being used. Narrator asks about whether wrestling is stage. Wow. Interview with Lawler’s wife who really sells wrestling as being real with a story of her being attacked in the ring by a Lawler opponent. Everyone is more serious when it comes to the sacrifices of wrestling.

[1990-05-28-NJPW] Riki Choshu vs Shinya Hashimoto
Choshu lays in some kicks of his own. Hash with kicks and Choshu counters with some headbutts. Chops from Hash. Counter forearm smash from Choshu. Two DDT’s from Hash. He actually hits a second rope elbow drop which I think is a first from the 90 yearbook. Choshu starts busting out the lariats. One of them was up side the head of Hash. Finish was unexpected. Hash counters a lariat with a powerslam and finishes Choshu off with a leg lariat. Nice little match. I liked the pace.
