[1993-11-05-AAA] Eddy Guerrero & Love Machine vs El Hijo del Santo & Octagon
I have not been impressed with Barr so far. He may be a heat magnet but not enjoying him actually wrestling in the ring. He was a bit better here and at least he did not do any dumb crap to get his team disqualified in the third fall. When Worlds Collide was much better to me. This went too long. WWC match had little things like a faster referee count, more vocal crowd and Octagon got taken out of the match. I did enjoy Santo celebrating here before Octagon got the three count on Barr.

Titans of Wrestling #18
It is nice to hear folks not completely burying Hogan versus Andre from WrestleMania. I don't see a whole lot of good things being said about it normally. Would have loved to hear Monsoon doing commentary looking back at matches he refereed himself. Well he was consistent at least in his bias towards good guys for both in the booth and as a referee. That fast three count was awful. Another miscarriage of justice. MSG match was still the better of the Hogan/Andre matches from 1980. Blassie was a riot during the interviews. Was funny to hear them refer to Vince's jacket as canary yellow. A shout out to Parv. I had to take a time out during the Toots Mondt discussion as was laughing so hard. Loved the idea of him being a gangster but gambling all his money on wrestling while picking the jobbers to win. Vince Sr. would have played that one well in gaining control. Great stuff on the Unification matches. I did not know that WWF was back under the NWA banner at this point. Would have loved to seen Bockwinkel versus Backlund one. Watched the 8MM clipped matched first and sat there wondering what the big deal was since it was so edited. So did check out the full thing on Daily Motion. Probably the worst part of the very long headlock was that Daily Motion has 30 second commercial breaks every five minutes so it felt like it was dragging things out even more for me. Race got so little sustained offense in match. He could maybe piece together two moves before Backlund went back to the advantage. That ended being my biggest problem with the match. Harley dropped a wicked knee right to Backlund's head and only got a quick one count out of it. My unofficial score card had Backlund making 22 pinfall attempts to only 8 from Race. There was enough action in the later part of match but still ends being below average. I agree with most of Parv's points and sounded like others especially Pete did too. But not the point about the MSG crowd. You can watch old matches, read bios and history around the match. But you can't put yourself in the crowd unless you were there at the time. These fans loved seeing their good guys like Bruno and Backlund look strong and beat the crap out of the rule breaker. Were some excellent points brought up about this match not even airing on MSG. This match was strictly for the paying MSG crowd to see their champion look the best guy out there with the belt. I'll miss not having Race around due to Johnny's great impressions of him. The unspecial show planned sounds very interesting!

Least deserving Meltzer 5-star match
Just checked out the match thread for Bret/Owen in yearbook and amazing to see how evenly people thought it was great versus those who disliked it. Count me as someone who is a big fan of it. Thought Owen and Bret were great in it. There are people just do not like the WWF blue cage and the escape rules. So they will be down on this one too. No blood allowed at the time so they had to wrestle the match different. I do contend they started the climbing stuff too early in match with it going over 30 minutes. But I loved the drama with the escapes in it. The finish is fantastic. I do not do star ratings but if I did I would not go the full five though. My issue with the rating of the match is that their WrestleMania one was given a lower rating. I have that one much higher than cage match.

Haven't listened to show yet but can I assume you guys went out and watched the full version of Backlund/Race match and not the silent film clip job that was included on set?

[1993-11-02-ECW-TV] Madusa and Sensational Sherri
I did not get what they arguing about. Greg Valentine? Sherri needed to be doing more of the talking. I would say that Sherri is the face in on all this as Madusa came off like she made no sense and was just complaining.

[1993-10-31-W*ING-Odawara Brazing Night] Yukihiro Kanemura & Shoji Nakamaki vs Gedo & Jado (No Rope Barbed Wire Fire Scrambled Death)
The setting was cool with using the torches around the ring as the only light. Whole think looked really dangerous from guys hitting each other with torches to the ring mat that looked slick as hell where someone could have wiped out. Crazy finish with the power bomb on fire. I though they grabbed some random fans jacket to try put the fire out on Kanemura's back.

[1993-10-30-WCW-Saturday Night] Ric Flair vs Sid Vicious
I really, really like Shawn versus Sid from Survivor Series. So I would put this much below that one but it may not be far from the Royal Rumble effort. More heat would have helped but Flair being more aggressive is good here. I wish he brought that against Sting in their recent match against one another. Parker ends up costing Sid the match. Oh, so the stabbing incident had occurred by air date. If Sid had stuck around and won the title I wonder what that would have done for Flair. He seemed to have the confidence back after winning the title with a great start to 94 until the Hogan show came to town.

[1993-10-30-SMW-TV] Dirty White Boy vs Brian Lee
Announcers bring up that the beat the champ championship started when DWB put a bounty out on Smothers. Ron Wright rises out of the chair! He gets a nice punch on Lee but Brian decks him. Then two big knees off the top rope. DWB is beside himself after as he holds on Wright. Really good way to turn those guys face.

Christopher was very hellish. Short promo overall with Jarrett looking for all challengers whether from USWA or WWF.

[1993-10-30-WWF-Superstars] Tatanka vs Ludvig Borga
Borga no sells a back suplex by Tatanka and pops up like he is Hogan! Chair shot to Tatanka and Borga pins him by only using one finger. Love the visual though do not think Tatanka was beat up in a way that he was completely knocked out to get pinned like that. Anyways, the long winning streak is over and Borga is the man to do it. Yokozuna squashes Tatanka out of the Survivor Series match. Luger tries to make the save but Quebecers delay him briefly. Good build up for that match.

[1993-10-29-AAA-Sin Limite] El Hijo del Santo vs Heavy Metal
It was one of those lethal drug cocktails maybe that Barr threw in Metal's face. Heavy and Barr brawl after and Santo plays peace maker for some reason. And then Octagon just starts laying in shots to Barr as everyone was calmly talking. Wonder what was said to spark that outburst from Octagon.

Who is winning the Royal Rumble?
Is Batista returning full time? The Royal Rumble is special still so it does not make sense to have him as the winner is he is not going to stick around full time. You need to elevate other people on full time roster instead. Sucks if Bryan is legit injured to miss out in at least wrestling in Rumble. Should have kept Lesnar/Show in the Rumble to add big names to it.
