WWE Network finally happening
There will be 1500 hours of video on demand from the start and they will add over time. They mentioned all the WWE/WCW/ECW PPVs will be available right away so that will take up a huge portion of the VOD available. I'm sure someone can mention exactly how many shows but from conference they mentioned over 300 PPVs. Not every one is three hours but you are talking over half of the VOD for PPVs. There will be Raw and Nitros and ECW TV. But I think there will be a sample of AWA, WCCW and SMW. I think the older stuff will take a while to get updated.

WWE Network finally happening
That doesn't sound like the greatest idea, but I can understand why they're doing it. I wonder how the 6 month commitment will affect sign ups for people for the second time around. But it is cheaper than the price of two PPVs.

WWE Network finally happening
Yeah, DX sucked but their presence wasn't enough to hurt my excitement for new Network. Can't wait for it to start and I will definitely be making the 6 month commitment. Getting the monthly PPVS including WrestleMania is a no brainer. I love getting access to all the WWE/WCW/ECW PPVs. VOD is the highlight for me so I hope they go deep into the archives with footage. Also being able to watch stuff when I want will make me more open to watching NXT and checking out more of Raw and Smackdown.

[1993-08-23-WWF-Raw] Interview: Jerry Lawler / Interview: Bret Hart
Bret don't like those Lawler jokes about his family. Stu and Helen want to personally be at Summerslam to see Bret destroy Jerry. I like to imagine that conversation with a fed up Helen cutting a fired up promo on the phone with Bret about being in attendance.

[1993-08-23-WWF-Raw] Rick & Scott Steiner vs Money Inc. (Cage)
So much shorter than I thought. This is a strange one because it's the blow off to the feud in a cage but no violence. They start the climbing right off the the bat. There wasn't enough beating down your opponents. I do wonder how much was edited off TV though as when they came back from a commercial guys looked more sweaty and worn down. Spots with one guy escaping but having to go back in the ring to rescue their partner getting double teamed were fun. IRS tries to escape down the cage at one point but gets caught by the tie and brought back in. I was shocked that Monsoon didn't go nuts about that. The finish was great to me with IRS getting blocked trying to escape when Rick Steiner climbs up underneath him. The end of Money, Inc.

[1993-08-13-AAA-Sin Limite] MS-1 vs Cien Caras (Hair vs Hair)
Yes, Caras music was pretty great. Seemed more of the hatred was from the second Satanico who was really going to town on the outside interference on Caras. The outside stuff was probably the best thing for me as they spread it over the first two falls. But then the seconds got booted out and we get the one on one for third fall.

Dave Meltzer stuff
So like Vince with using wrestling in Wrestlemania if Dave could do things over would he call it the MMA Observer Newsletter? I think my initial reaction was to be annoyed by this but I'm not a subscriber so if he is putting out the newsletter content to the target paying audience then good for him. When I did subscribe I use to hate those issues that started off with a UFC/Pride show recap. Was like get to the damn wrestling already. Though I won't pretend to say it was the only reason I stopped subscribing as I was just down on wrestling to keep following newsletter.

Preferred worker in tag teams
Pillman over Austin for me after watching 1993. It's close but I thought Pillman was a better heel between the two. Pierre beats Jacques. I liked Pierre's big guy doing high spots for the team. And the eye patch. Jannetty better than 123 Kid

HELP: Ted DiBiase interview tomorrow!
Totally feels like there was a Part 2 to come out of this. Left us hanging on his intro to WWF. Too bad about it being short as was really good for what we got. Parv asked a million questions that I would have loved to hear DiBiase talk about but obviously not realistic. I did like that there was a focus on non WWF stuff but the WWF fan in me did want to hear more about the Million Dollar Man character. And I was totally hearing the Million Dollar Man laugh in my head every time [laugh] was in the article.

Jerry Lawler
I don't consider myself to be a huge fan of heavy punch filled matches. Now when both guys can throw awesome looking punches and sell them great it's a different story. Fargo versus Lawler as mentioned by others already in this thread is definitely a treat to watch. The punches looked so great but it was the selling by both guys that I loved. Like every punch connected was devastating to the opponent. The looks on their faces after taking a stiff looking shot like they were about to go unconscious at any moment. It felt like a war and was I really taken in with this match. Simple in that it was a straight up brawl but the selling just made it so special. Excellent match.

Current WWE
But shouldn't you be affected by a wrestling angle? Maybe the reading the behind the scenes stuff is too much but if you are watching TV/PPV you want to care. Beats being indifferent about the product which is where I find myself too much.

[1993-08-21-WCW-Saturday Night] Ric Flair vs Sting
It must be instinctual for Flair to wrestle a certain way when he is in the ring with Sting or Luger. It wasn't the over the top begging you see when he's a full heel but he'd half heartedly beg off before realizing he was a good guy too. I wish Flair wasn't doing that stuff as much here with him being a face also and we got a more even/different match than their previous efforts. Curious that they would throw out this match on regular TV. Should have been saved for a PPV or at least a Clash show. With the time given I thought this would be much better. Like a a really good under the radar match between the two because it wasn't on a big show. Sid on commentary was a big distraction at the end. A long match that didn't feel satisfying in the end with the finish. I should say more positives about it and I felt similar to El-P that the earlier stuff was better. Though, I felt the crowd wasn't into it as much early and Sting/Flair did an excellent job over the course of the match getting the fans into it.

[1993-08-21-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Cactus Jack
Lost in Cleveland is completely ignored (for the best) as Cactus mentions he has been thinking for the past four months about Vader. Cactus is back and after Vader took him out previously he is ready to bring some pain for Vader.

[1993-08-21-SMW-TV] Down and Dirty: Jim Cornette
Cornette has been having success managing but has some concerns regarding Boss Man and Bob Armstrong in that they could cause issues for him. Taped before the matches we have already seen.

[1993-08-21-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler and Vince McMahon
Vince must have been calling the wrestling hotlines to find out Hart beat Lawler in USWA. If this segment was done just for USWA TV it's a different change for Lawler. Playing up his WWF heel character for their live audience but not the confident, defending his territory King we see on USWA TV.

[1993-08-20-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Mitsuharu Misawa & Jun Akiyama & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi vs Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue & Masa Fuchi
They did dial it back with Misawa/Kawada on the heat between them. It seemed a bit too civil at times. Favorite parts of match was Kikuchi getting smashed in the face two separate times when trying to break up a pinning attempt by Kawada. Kikuchi drew some big boos from the fans as they wanted to see Kawada versus Misawa. So they probably enjoyed seemed getting rocked with the shot from Kawada.

[1993-08-20-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat vs Kenta Kobashi & Satoru Asako
Some wicked bleeding from the mouth by Asako. Kid has loads of fight in him. Was taking the best shots from Furnas/Kroffat. Kobashi comes in and gets a few clotheslines and chops but most of this was Asako taking a beating. The Furnas botch was forgiving in that it involved the two illegal men in the ring.

[1993-08-19-SMW-Morgantown, WV] Jim Cornette vs Cowabunga
Cornette really concerned with Cowabunga’s ninja skills. Jimmy uses his traditional wrestling skills to win the side headlock but gets bit in the butt. Rope walk by Cowabunga! Cornette seems to be enjoying himself getting to bust out bodyslams, backbody drops and elbow drops at will. I’ve seen this before and my previous issues with it was the time given. I’d say maybe I “get” the match more now as enjoyed this time around. This isn’t Cornette going up against Smothers or Morton one on one. It’s Cowabunga so fine that it went as long as it did. What stood out to me at the end though as realizing Cornette was wrestling a match after doing the stretcher job against Armstrong. Seems very unlike Cornette to be doing something like this with how they sell the neck issues later on.

[1993-08-18-WCW-Clash of Champions XXIV] Vader vs Davey Boy Smith
The ramp suplex spot came way too early in match. They go from intros to commercial break to fighting on the ramp. Suplex on Vader looked great but that was going to be hard to follow up that high. They continue to ask too much of Race when he has to do physical interference spots in the ring. Cactus makes a big return from Cleveland to attack Vader.

[1993-08-18-WCW-Clash of Champions XXIV] Flair for the Gold: The Shockmaster
I think about how non fans make fun of why wrestlers are shouting during their promos. You had some over the top yelling by Bulldog and Sid during this. Anyways, Sting and Bulldog have themselves a tag partner for War Games and introduce the Shockmaster. The crashing through the wall, falling over and losing the glitter stormtrooper helmet is hilarious. But what put it over the top for me was the really awkward and long pause as he got to his feet and waiting for Ole's voice over promo to kick in. Then you had very audible "Oh, Gosh" while all this was going on. Fun to look back at now but I can only imagine how I would feel if was watching this live at the time.
