[1996-01-23-WCW-Clash of the Champions XXXII] Ric Flair & The Giant vs Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage
Yep. Can’t help but notice Elizabeth’s enhancement. Tony talks about Andre the Giant/Hogan from 1987. They make way too much of a deal of Hogan slamming the Giant. Heenan is freaked out when the action spills to the outside and takes another walk. Flair uses the foreign object for the win. The Dungeon runs down only to be beat up by Hogan and Kevin Greene.

[1996-01-23-WCW-Clash of the Champions XXXII] Brian Pillman vs Eddy Guerrero
Call the WCW hotline to hear about Eric Bischoff’s thoughts on the Billionaire Ted skits. Heenan throws a fit when Pillman grabs him from behind. Bobby takes a walk to cool off and then apologizes for his language. Heenan is able to go back to broadcast journalist mode. Pillman gets the win and tries to exit the ring by the announce area which runs off Bobby again. Watch the neck.

[1996-01-22-WCW-Nitro] Ric Flair vs Randy Savage
There’s Debra! Hogan wants the first shot at the WCW title after Savage wins it. Woman is also on the side of Savage. Like that will last. Savage wins the title and wrestling changes forever with the title change on free TV (not even the main event). Hogan was so quick to jump all over Savage’s big win.

[1996-01-22-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels and Jim Cornette
Shawn wants the nine guys in Syracuse to get credit for taking him out. Why didn’t they make a PPV match out of that. Cornette wants Owen to get the World title shot at next PPV over Michaels. This became normal routine on later PPVs with Rumble winner facing a random opponent over WrestleMania title shot.

[1996-01-22-WWF-Raw] Billionaire Ted Skit
I laughed with Billionaire Ted trying to come up with new ideas and Scheme Gene telling everyone to call the hotline to find out. It did feel like WWF was starting to abandon their own hotline at this point.

[1996-01-22-WWF-Raw] Vader vs Savio Vega
I loved when Vader debuted in WWF. They were in need of heels for the roster. Vader destroys Savio with the Vader splash. He ain’t done though and continues the beating on Vega. Vader squashes referee Jack Doan with power bomb. I remember being pissed off when Monsoon suspended Vader because of this. Monsoon with the big chops! Vader then squashes the crap out of him. Vader runs off when Michaels shows up. Ugh.

[1996-01-21-WWF-Royal Rumble] Royal Rumble
This Rumble had more random guys than the 93 version. Here we had The Headhunters, Dory Funk, Omori and Doug Gilbert to fill out the ranks. Triple H had the big run as far as lasting a long time but didn't really eliminate anyways. I though Savio Vega was great taking some king sized bumps and big moves from everyone. Droese might be the worst 30th entrant for the Rumbles. The camera work on the eliminations was terrible as they would have too many guys in the ring and miss guys being thrown out. Monsoon would have been very confused. Shawn Michaels was so annoying in this. He eliminates both Vader and Yokozuna with ease! Shawn runs around and is hitting everyone with punches. He press slams 1-2-3 Kid (I know) over the top rope. Michaels was looking way too dominating when he shouldn't be like that.

[1996-01-21-WWF-Royal Rumble] Bret Hart vs The Undertaker
Undertaker actually looks human with Bret continuing to work on the leg. This is much below their 1997 efforts though. The crowd is very split at times between both guys. In the end Undertaker gets Tombstone for the clean pin but Diesel interferes. Bret don't look too good on that finish. Diesel being so cocky in giving Undertaker the finger was great.

[1996-01-21-NJPW-New Year Special] Shinjiro Otani vs El Samurai
I've missed Otani. Great match. I loved that we get mat work in a NJPW junior's match that actually matters later on. I do agree though with Nintendo Logic after some of this mat work were they seemed to ignore what had happened Samurai should not have been jumping up so easily to top rope after having his leg worked on so much. The reversals on the mat were great though. Otani's dropkicks are so great as he hits them out of every angle. Total heatseeking type move.

[1996-01-21-WWF-Royal Rumble] Goldust vs Razor Ramon
The big thing was Marlena being introduces to add to the Goldust character. Big affection being showed between the two. The Kid didn't connect correctly with the big spinning kick but his trailing leg did hit Razor in the head which Mr. Perfect picked up on. Razor was all about being in a title match at the Rumble as he was either wrestling for the WWF title against Bret or defending the I.C. title against various challengers. He never did compete in Rumble itself.

[1996-01-18-AAA] Psicosis vs Ultraman
Psicosis starts things off by launching himself back down the aisle way after getting dropkicked during his entrance. The horns did bring me back to the nightmares of 2010 World Cup. Psicosis went completely head first into that chair shot. He tries a moonsault off a ladder and lands on the floor with maybe his foot hitting the table. Ouch. He just continues the reckless bumps.

[1996-01-15-WCW-Nitro] Ric Flair vs Sting
Most of their standard stuff against each other. Luger and Hart get involved ringside and Lex waits patiently to accidentally hit Sting with the Megaphone. Flair gets a win over Sting! Funny when he had the figure four he started to use the ropes for leverage after Sting’s shoulders were already counted down.

[1996-01-15-WWF-Raw] Razor Ramon and Goldust
Hall wiped out in the end when he tossed the garbage can. Could have hurt himself there. Brawling outside and with it being in the snow was unique at the time.

[1996-01-15-WWF-Raw] Billionaire Ted
Vince probably got himself some fans for taking a dig at Turner for colorizing old movies. Starting to get more personal. Savage joking about starting in the 70’s is funny since so did current WWF champion Bret Hart.

[1996-01-13-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler, Doug Gilbert and Tommy Rich
Doug out to tell Lawler why he did it. Memorial show for his brother Eddie that Lawler wants nothing to do. Jerry tries to explain that has a lot to do with the promoter of the show. Bit awkward bringing up a deceased wrestler as part of the angle. But felt similar to the Lawler/Snowman as far as intensity when Doug and Jerry were going back and forth.

[1996-01-13-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Tommy Rich
Well, I still think the title changes they did in studio show lessened title. Not much of a match with Gilbert hitting Lawler with the chain allowing Rich to win title. They played it up like Rich didn’t know what happened with Gilbert/Lawler.

I still don’t think it’s got too personal yet but amusing to see references towards wrestler’s size and steroids.
