[1991-08-26-WWF-Summerslam] Ted DiBiase vs Virgil
Great match for the fans. Not a great technical match but a well deserved victory for Virgil. Sherri was really dressing it up at this point. A very fan popping segment when she gets kicked out of ringside and the match continues. Yes, I liked that Piper didn't get involved during match. However, I think there needed to be a get together/hug once match ended. Piper was totally in Virgil's corner this whole time and for them to not embrace was lacking.

[1991-08-26-WWF-Summerslam] Bobby Heenan and Hulk Hogan's arm
I hated that Heenan dropped the belt on the floor. So disrespectful for him do do that. This called for a much stronger segment since Hogan never even showed his face.

[1991-08-26-WWF-Summerslam] Bret Hart vs Mr Perfect
Really good match but doesn't hold up on many additional viewings. Again, it is still good match though. Never liked how Hebner called for the bell so quickly when Bret started to put the sharpshooter on. Yes it was a cool reversal but submission was goo quick. Needed a bit more of tease. Bret kicking out of the Perfect Plex as cool but problem was that move was already weakened over time. Great moment for Bret becoming IC title when that stuff did matter. And yes I got a kick out of Hayes asking Stu a question and then pulling the mic immediately away from him.

[1991-08-26-WWF-Summerslam] Summerslam introduction
I just recently watched the dvd version of Summerslam 1991 and don't remember the Savage intro. Vince is awesome in these intro segments.

[1991-08-24-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Lex Luger & Harley Race
Harley doesn't care what college Ron Simmons went to. Jim Ross must have been stewing at this. Luger is not impressed with Simmons' college football credentials. Well yeah.

[1991-08-24-USWA-Memphis TV] Dirty White Boy and Eric Embry / Chris Love & Dragon Master debut / Interview: Humongous
Anthony hasn't hit his level as a face yet. He was still a few years away from SMW when he got going. I always get a kick out of these wrestlers who blatantly turn their back on their opponent and get cracked in the head for it. Valiant comes to the aid of Dirty White Boy. Christopher Live is new to me. His crew brings out a casket. Undertaker and Paul Bearer would be proud of this. He says Lawler is not a box office draw. Jerry gets his two week notice. Downsizing sucks. Dragon Master's mask takes up about half of the screen. Somebody please give Humongous direction on where the camera is. Cracking up at Pete's comment about Dave Brown being bigger than Humongous.

[1991-08-24-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Jake Roberts / Interview: Sid Justice / Interview: Bobby Heenan
Jake’s heel promo is fantastic. I feel like it is probably too much for the WWF audience though. We don’t see Sid wrestling but he is always wearing his in ring gear. Sid promises justice will be served at Summerslam. This is surreal with Bobby talking about Flair still being under contract to another organization.

Dave Meltzer stuff
I've notice on the daily update's that the most recent of the most requested newsletters is almost 4 and a half years old. No longer a subscriber so has he just not released good enough newsletters in the past few years or he just not updating his records?

[1991-08-23-PWFG] Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs Lato Kiraware
Fujiwara looked like he was having fun out there beating down an inferior opponent. He’s the total aggressor in match and sticks mostly to using kicks. Lato’s size must made for a big target for Fujiwara.

[1991-08-23-PWFG] Wayne Shamrock vs Masakatsu Funaki
PWFG had a pretty decent run going up to this match. Shamrock was non stop in his previous showing but this one is much slower and just not as compelling as some of the other matches we have seen from this group.

[1991-08-18-CWA] Chris Benoit vs Dave Finlay
I’m not positive whether they are using rounds with the editing. It’s a plus for me not seeing all the intermissions that comes with rounds as I don’t like stopping matches repeatedly. So I liked this more than other of these matches that made yearbooks. Finlay has purpose with everything he does. Besides finish, good match.

[1991-08-18-AJPW-Summer Action Series II] Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi vs Jumbo Tsuruta & Akira Taue
The rolling cradle looked awful. Jumbo must have had no interest in going around in a circle. Taue and Jumbo heeling it up a bit more. Jumbo seems to always take his shots while on the apron. You just know he’s going to kick some ass when and get revenge. Strong performance by Kobashi too. Got pretty good towards the end.

[1991-08-17-WWA] Terry Funk vs Bob Backlund
Funk was his crazy self at start of match. Tough to get through the rest though. It’s probably better than the Backlund/Lawler match from one of the other yearbooks. Backlund’s style is really out of place in the 90’s.

[1991-08-17-WCW-Saturday Night] Lex Luger, Ron Simmons and Barry Windham
Luger and company attacks Ron Simmons. I think they should have had Mr. Hughes holding up Simmons instead of Race. Harley is no longer a wrestler and Simmons should be strong enough to fight him off. Luger pulls the same act later on Windham only for Simmons to make the save. Simmons and Windham make an alliance.

[1991-08-17-USWA-Memphis TV] Bill Dundee and Danny Davis
Danny Davis in a three piece suit but still wearing his face paint. Dundee wants a submission match or KO match, no pinfalls. Dundee and Davis get in a slap fight but Dave Brown gets in between them to try cool things down. Match has been set.

[1991-08-17-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler vs Awesome Kong / Interview: Jerry Lawler / Dragon Master vignette
Pretty neat finish with Lawler dodging powder to the face and countering with a fireball. He gets the pinfall as Awesome Kong trips over Reggie B. Fine. Lawler for an interview but gets interrupted by a voice over the PA system. He’s very mad at Lawler for putting AWA and WCCW out of business. Is USWA-TX done? We get a clip of the next challenger in Dragon Master. I bet McMahon wished he had Steamboat wearing that mask.

[1991-08-17-USWA-Memphis TV] Jeff Jarrett & Dirty White Girl vs Eric Embry & Miss Texas / Interview: Eric Embry
Most of the action shown is of the men wrestling. Tony Anthony is on crutches on the outside. Embry punches DWG in the face which drives DWB nuts. Jarrett has his own right hand for Miss Texas. Usually these mix tag matches the women only wrestle the women. Too much to see the men beating up the women like this. Embry talks about another hair match. USWA can really over use these gimmicks.
