[1991-07-24-NJPW-Summer Crush] Tatsumi Fujinami & Riki Choshu & Shinya Hashimoto & Keiji Muto & Masa Chono vs Big Van Vader & Bam Bam Bigelow & Wild Samoan & Great Kokina & TNT (2/3 falls)
I like these NJPW five on five matches. Some big heavyweights on Vader’s team including Yokozuna! Savio Vega involved too. TNT felt more Kwang than Vega though. Thought Chono was eliminated early but he continues to wrestle. Looks like this is two out of three falls and not an elimination match. The big guys were bumping all over the place. It was good but not being the full elimination match was a tad disappointing. This had potential to be much more.

[1991-07-22-USWA] Jerry Lawler vs Eric Embry
Stalling before with Embry running off as Lawler takes down his strap. Eric tries to use a chain before they even lock up. Referee very suspicious and checks him over a couple times but Embry hides it. Embry hides it in his mouth even. This is most of the match with Embry being sneaky as he can. This referee was getting easily fooled when a wrestler would point outside the ring and he would go investigate.

[1991-07-20-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Sgt. Slaughter, Gen. Adnan & Col. Mustafa
A handicap match between Slaughter, Adnan and Mustafa versus Hogan and Warrior. It maybe a three on two but on paper Hogan and Warrior look like the strong favorites. There will be a special guest referee who is introduced as Sid Justice, out wearing his wrestling gear. Slaughter and company seem happy with the choice. Sid lets the core know he is not a member.

[1991-07-19-NJPW-Summer Crush] Big Van Vader vs Shinya Hashimoto
Hashimoto’s early matwork and pace of match can test your patience but he is able to draw you in over the course of the match. With Vader you get two guys just slugging it out. Crowd was into it and there was some good close pinfall attempts. Thought finish came about a bit too quickly though once they really got going.

[1991-07-14-WCW-Great American Bash] Rick Steiner & Missy Hyatt vs Arn Anderson & Paul E. Dangerously
I couldn't believe this was put on last on the show. Missy doesn't even make it into the cage as the Hardliners drag her off including dropping her by mistake. Very quick match with Steiner immediately isolating Dangerously and pinning him. The fans are flying for the exits. I can see why this PPV is considered one of the lowest.

[1991-07-14-WCW-Great American Bash] Lex Luger vs Barry Windham (Cage)
Crowd wants Flair. We get some close up shots of them screaming it. Thought match was good with Luger trying hard out there. Cage barely got involved though. They needed to have a great match to try to put Flair out of mind but the fans weren't having it. Ending was flat with Race and Hughes coming down to be in Luger's corner. They don't do anything though and Luger wins the belt.

[1991-07-14-WCW-Great American Bash] Ricky Morton vs Robert Gibson
The lack of crowd heat dragged this down for me. Not the type of match I was expecting, also mentioned by Ross on commentary. The good was Morton going right after Gibson's surgically repaired knee. Just adds to fact that these guys use to be tag team partners for so long but it means nothing to Morton at this point. Part of me wished for role reversal with Morton doing the selling but by the end Gibson does a strong job of selling the knee. Each attempting to dropkick one another on the ramp was a cool spot.

[1991-07-14-WCW-Great American Bash] Steve Austin & Terrence Taylor vs Bobby Eaton & P.N. News ('Capture the Flag' Scaffold)
I don't like scaffold matches much. Some match to start off the show. Match is awful with very little happening. Eaton grabs the flag walks over to his side and then returns. Match just continues until guys start climbing down the scaffold. They've had enough and Gary Cappetta randomly announces Eaton/News as winners.

Playing up the Skinner name as he likes to skin rodents but let them go sometimes so he can then catch and skin them again.

[1991-07-13-WCW-Saturday Night] Lex Luger vs Barry Windham hype
The production of this didn’t make the match feel all that special. More of two random guys facing each other for title.

[1991-07-13-GWF] Lightning Kid vs Jerry Lynn
They don’t get the time like their 90 matches and with it being on ESPN there isn’t the blood/hate. Felt like a condensed version of those matches. The dive on to the stage was great. Kid looked good.

[1991-07-13-USWA-Memphis TV] Dirty White Girl vs Miss Texas
Super quick match as they do a couple teases in the ring about pushing one another into the mud. Guys get involved and Miss Texas is gently placed into the tub of mud. Weak stuff. They weren't going to be able to much with the set up of the mud.

[1991-07-08-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Randy Savage in the studio
The imagination segments of Hayes, Jamison and Heenan were stupid as far as wrestling but Savage was so entertaining in them. I would believe he would be doing the dishes while wearing his hat and glasses.

Hillbilly Jim was around for a decent amount of years in WWF but seemed to barely wrestle. He plays a song for Savage and Miss Elizabeth.

[1991-07-08-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Skinner vignette
I’m eager to see Skinner in WWF and well this wasn’t too awful. He looks pretty serious with the knife. He must have had the hat stuck to his head for when he was going under in the water.

[1991-07-06-WWC-Anniversario] Ron Garvin vs Invader I
If not for the announcer going crazy I wouldn’t have known what the big deal with the finish was. Still feels way too much of a fluke with Garvin in control most of the match. Garvin did sell it like it was devastating though.

[1991-07-06-WCW-Saturday Night] Jim Herd fires Ric Flair
Curious but did the WCW fans consider this to be an angle/storyline? It is interesting to see them discuss it the way they did and wish Flair the best in the future. Ross and Heyman are shocked. Luger keeps the title shot at The Bash and Windham has been chosen as his opponent. Ross and Heyman treat it has a big match to have signed.
