[1997-07-21-WWF-Raw] Interview: Paul Bearer
That would work in court.

We Are Dynamite
The original was so bad it's good. That was so so bad.

[1997-07-12-ECW-TV] Taz and a WWF 'RAW IS WAR' T-Shirt
Stuff like this is quite funny knowing that Vince bankrolled ECW.

[1997-07-12-ECW-TV] The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer vs Sabu & Rob Van Dam
I don't enjoy much ECW but that was fun with Lawler and Cornette showing up like that. Obviously the match continued through all of it.

[1997-07-07-WCW-Nitro] Randy Savage vs "La Parka"
This was really well executed and a great idea to begin with.

[1997-06-16-WWF-Raw] Vince McMahon and Jim Ross announcement
Shawn vacates his 2nd title of the year and 6th of his career for those of you keeping score at home.

[1997-06-16-WWF-Raw] Ahmed Johnson & The Undertaker vs Faarooq & Kama Mustafa
I'm not sure if anyone lower ranked than Kama ever clean pinned the Undertaker.

[1997-06-16-WCW-Nitro] Interview: Madusa
We just needed a point of comparison for how big Madusa's tits were at this point in time. This was such a weedy promo. She did some awesome crazy interviews in 1990 AJW.

[1997-06-23-WWF-Raw] Gang Wars
White Biker Gang (Faces) vs Black Street Gang (Heels). Great stuff!

[1997-06-23-WWF-Raw] Interview: Hart Foundation
Famous boxer at ringside for a wrestling show. I wonder what's going to happen... This was fun though.
-
[1997-06-30-WWF-Raw] Sunny photo shoot raw footage
Sunny was such a lightweight compared to Missy.
-
[1997-06-30-WCW-Nitro] Rey Misterio Jr vs Kevin Nash / Interview: Raven
Rey's leg would have to be as strong as a twig for Konnan's leglock to break it. That was pathetic.

Ranking the luchadores
I'm definitely looking forward to discovering some of these guys on the lucha set. Any thoughts on El Canek, Bestia Salvaje, Espectrito, Mascarita Sagrada? It was only a couple of weeks ago that I noticed your Great Lucha Blog hidden away here. It would be cool if you could cut 'n' paste your reviews onto the 90's Yearbook match topics so that other people won't miss them as well.

[1997-05-08-IWA-MS] Ricky Morton vs Wolfie D
This was just awful. Having a wrestler and the fans spend the whole time telling each other to F off is so far away from where pro wrestling should ever be as an entertainment medium. It's sad to see Ricky Morton in this squalor.

[1997-05-26-WWF-Raw] Jerry Lawler promo / Jerry Lawler vs Goldust
Even for the attitude era it's amazing they aired that infamous promo. I hadn't seen the match before, which was decent because of the crowd reactions.

[1997-05-26-WWF-Raw] Interview: Mankind
Like Edge at Wrestlemania VI, that night at MSG was a seminal moment in the life of a young Mick Foley. These segments are great.

[1997-05-12-WWF-Raw] Interview: Steve Austin
Having recently watched the 1991 Yearbook I thought the snake reference was pretty awesome.
-
[1997-05-31-USWA-TV] Interview: New Diesel / Vince McMahon promo / New Diesel vs New Razor Ramon
How wrong I was to think that Diesel and Razor had been consigned to the scrap heap by this point.
-
[1997-03-24-WCW-Nitro] Randy Savage vs Prince Iaukea
I always hate these matches where you have a main eventer fighting for a lower tier title that is beneath them. It will pretty much always end in a DQ and do nothing for the credibility of the title or the champion.
-
[1997-04-13-ECW-Barely Legal] The Eliminators vs Dudley Boys
Indy wrestling at it's finest.
-
[1997-04-12-ECW-TV] Raven promo / Terry Funk vignette
Using the dead to shill a wrestling show might be seen as crass and tasteless, but I'm sure Dory Funk would've approved.
-
[1997-04-06-WCW-Spring Stampede] Interview: Harlem Heat
At least it wasn't the other way around!
-
[1997-04-29-FMW] Megumi Kudo vs Shark Tsuchiya (Retirement Death)
As the bloodied and beaten Kudo lay on the ground in pain for ages after this I couldn't help but wonder why she was retiring? Epic postmatch.

Is it possible to be too ignorant to enjoy Japanese wrestling - or do I secretly agree with Vince Russo
The funny thing is that a longtime Puro fan probably understands the commentary as well as a Japanese person who had never watched wrestling. The only reason to watch wrestling in a language you don't understand is because you want to see superior quality or at least different style matches. If you watch wrestling primarily to follow storylines then it makes little sense as you don't get subtitles, and US wrestling would give you more entertainment from that regard anyway. Japanese wrestling isn't that hard to follow, but you've got to be watching it for the right reasons.

GFOAT
"Anyone who doesn't think that Chyna is the greatest women's wrestler of all time is delusional." Sadly I can't take credit for that gem. I remember the Smarkchoice greatest women's wrestler poll from 04 or 05 time. There was some really high quality discussion and I learnt a lot from taking part in it. There was also frankp316 getting in an argument with every single other poster about a variety of subjects. I'm not sure if the results from that are still up somewhere?
