Current WWE
Someone on Reddit just linked a pre-Shield Roman Reigns promo from NXT that was far, far more natural, relaxed and convincing than his recent stuff on RAW. Here for anyone who is interested. If WWE are intent on sending Reigns to the moon immediately, the money is in him as a heel, imo.

Roman Reigns is already a lot better than Goldberg. Not a good comparison at all.

Sounds like RAW sucked, but what an awful thing to say. Fuck off, douche.

WK9 live thoughts
Wow, I hate to be a downer here, but I kind of just got fucked out of $40. Due to complications with the Flipps app, I've been able to see about 1 1/2 matches total. I would much rather subject myself to another so-so modern WWE PPV than have to deal with this. I don't care how good your wrestling show is. Sorry, just too stressful. It's a shame too. Sounds like it's been a fun show.

WK9 live thoughts
Was just about to ask if others were having trouble with the app.

An ACL injury put a quick end to Adrian Neville and Joel Redman, which was a fun team for it's brief existence in NXT. I'm not nearly as down on Neville as others. All the tools are there for a nice career as a mid-card babyface.

Wrestlemania XXXII - Thinking Ahead
If Brock isn't in the main event with Bryan then 2014 has pretty much been a colossal waste of time. Also count me in the camp of those who think Taker is done.

Current New Japan
So, apparently tomorrow Jeff Jarrett is going to announce Matt Striker will be doing colour commentary alongside Jim Ross for Wrestle Kingdom 9. Not my first choice, but you can probably count me as one of the few who is fine with Striker calling the show.

NXT Revolution... live as it happens
Thanks man you really swayed me there.

NXT Revolution... live as it happens
Could someone who is into star ratings please explain and justify to me in full and precise detail the extra 3/4 of a star in your match ratings?

On the slim chance the audience does remember this, provided Charlotte gets the machine fully behind her why does it even matter.

Competing with WWE
Unless Matt knows something we don't, my understanding is that no one knows exactly what Global Force is at this stage. I was just making a comparison between Overhyped's post and GFW partnering with NJPW and AAA, as well as groups in England, Australia, South Africa, Ireland and New Zealand. Perhaps Matt will add a little more insight.

Competing with WWE
So basically what Global Force seems to be doing, Overbooked?

Rusev
Did I just read someone potray an Umaga comparison as a negative? If Rusev could reach that level of credibility that would be incredible, unless people really see this guy as the number 1 heel in the company.

CM Punk on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling
On a semi - related note, I never bought the idea that Colt's act wouldn't work in WWE. Totally serviceable mid-card comedy babyface, now more than ever that Santino has retired.

Nicest person in wrestling
And Nova and Cabana are buddies.

When did WWE commentary go to hell?
I need a little Kozlov in my life.

When did WWE commentary go to hell?
Commentary went downhill when WWE decided it was more important to focus almost exclusively on the periphery stuff (storyline surrounding the match, social media) than focusing on the story in the ring and articulating that to the audience at home. So, basically when Michael Cole became the lead Play-by-Play announcer in 2008, which I think is more of a Vince/Kevin Dunn thing than it is Cole not knowing what he's doing. Still don't understand the criticism towards modern JR. I genuinely enjoyed his pseudo Play-by-Play when working with Todd Grisham and heel Cole.

Do you guys know Paul Levesque on a personal level?

Without even doing 2 minutes of research I feel like the above comment has to be the overstatement of the century.

Striker was bordering on unbearable on color during his WWE run for sure. At least half the issue there was that he was essentially working with two other color guys at the desk and they were tripping all over each other. Lawler was faced with the impossible task of having to reign in both Striker and heel Cole. If he had a competent Play-by-Play guy to work with during that time period I don't think he'd have as many critics. Anyway, I find him decidedly less irritating on Play-by-Play for Lucha Underground. Yeah, I'm surprised by the amount of supporters Corino has honestly. I remember thinking at the time Nigel being sent out to call the NJPW/ROH Hammerstein show main event was a God send.

Current New Japan
MVP calling a 4 hour show right out of the gate seems HUGELY iffy to me. I'd stand by Nigel McGuinness honestly, but I may be in the minority there. With a number of ROH guys on the show I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed. Why the negativity towards Nigel's commentary anyway? He's one of the few guys out there with good psychology, isn't overbearing and doesn't take the focus off the in-ring stuff. Matt Striker would be a controversial pick and typically I agree with the criticism. He's been getting good reviews for his Play-by-Play on Lucha Underground though. JR has a history of reigning in overbearing color guys but I'll give credit to Striker in saying that he seems to have toned down a lot his irritating tendencies lately. It's not like his being given much to work with in Vampiro either. Those would be two picks and I'm sure most here will vehemently disagree. Both guys have knowledge of the product though I have more faith in Ross than most by the sound of things.

Tenay is bearable on color but I still think he may be a cyborg. Nigel doesn't do much for you, Coffey?

Current New Japan
I think Jim Ross was still decent at the end of his run, and was disappointed they brought Jerry Lawler back after his heart attack. JR deserves some kind of award (or at least a cuddle) for keeping modern Michael Cole focused during a broadcast and if his recent boxing commentary is a reflection of what to expect for New Japan then I'm actviely excited for him being in Tokyo. My only hope now is that we get Nigel McGuinness doing color. I'm not exactly sure how a podcast relates to announcing... evidently it doesn't, actually.
