- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
I just knew Christian would be the Canadian to fall. He did well.- What about Flair?
Yeah, Flair always has had a chance to get #1 overall even without having the additional voters. Believe it or not he's still pretty well loved by most of the posters here. I had him at #12- All that remains of the 2006 threads
"Nobuhiko Takada He's the other guy in my Japanese top five taking the place of Misawa in yours." - Dylan Waco 2006 How things have changed.- All that remains of the 2006 threads
Hahahaha! Eat those words Will!- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
That's fair. I think this last post is the most clear you've been on your take with this project Parv. I appreciate the clarity. I suppose arguments can be made that Kobashi doesn't have any good matches & even with Magnum's shorter career he had great ones so he's better. I don't think there's many voters who think that here though. If there are, I'd be very interested in hearing that argument. EDIT: Just to add that Kobashi is in my Top 15 & I didn't even rank Magnum.- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
And dammit I'll defend Christian when the time comes. If did so on a podcast today & I'll do it again later. "Learned Psychology" is a thing people. And it's awesome- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
My thing is even if I disagree with it I appreciate folks who come in & explain their picks. I respect that. I think it matters more that someone share their opinion & explains it rather than what that opinion or explanation is. It's very hard to change someone's philosophical approach to something. Parv obviously values objectivity more than subjectivity in his wrestling viewing. I value subjectivity a bit more. That's an approach that's difficult to reverse. When someone argues something I think the goal should always be to have others who disagree to understand their argument & maybe even change their opinions a little. I think understanding a different opinion is easier than changing that opinion. I'm betting 9/10 times an effort to change one's opinion doesn't work. Ive read pages upon pages, threads upon threads where Matt & Parv have argued philosophies of viewing wrestling & what they value more. They've agreed some on details. They've disagreed some on details. But I don't think they've ever changed their outlook on what they value more or the way they look at wrestling in any significant way. And that's because it's the basis for everyway they look at wrestling & that's very hard to change. It's hard to change core values- Greatest vs best
I certainly counted live viewing as part of my criteria. A lot of the southern indie shows I've been to never made circulation but I couldn't eliminate those influences from my ballot. I saw it as more "Greatest Wrestler Ever I've seen anywhere at anytime"- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
I don't mind having my opinion challenged. It has been before & has changed for that but I don't appreciate when I see people go to bat for wrestlers that they have explained clearly why they enjoy them & then someone tries to tear them down for it anyways. It's like some desperate attempt to change an opinion to fit there's.- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
I got 77 left. Pleasantly surprised Christian is still hanging around.- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
Surprised Meiko got a number 3 vote. Too bad who ever did that is anonymous. I'd be interested in hearing why she's so high.- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
Release more names! Release more names! Release more names!- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
For me the highlight of the day is there's a jackwebb & JKWebb on this board. What are the odds- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
Bless you Graham Crackers. The lucha soldier you are. I never got to see much of any of the less "higher thought of" lucha guys- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
We should all contact him.- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
Really though. We need Jack Webb to write up Scotty Steiner. I'm excited to read the argument for him- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
No but I'm losing sleep over Brody- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
I counted 18 names that have dropped from my ballot. Seems about right- Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 3
Any more names dropping today?- Your New Avatar: Show Off Your Shame
So I changed my photo to Tank throwing a bike at a guy in Alabama. Beat that.- Parejas Increibles Greatest Wrestler Ever Special - Part 1
I saw Parv had posted the link on Twitter & I did a double take. Glad Matt & Stacey have finally done some podcasting. Good start y'all. I really enjoyed part one.- Post here when you turn in your ballot!
Just submitted mine.- Outrageous real-life heeling it up
The McShane quote is hilarious. I wouldn't even really call what he revealed to be a complete spoiler. As a mark for A Song of Ice & Fire and Game of Thrones I've spent hours on Westeros.org reading theories & such. I mean what he says is a spoiler but it's not really a surprise if it's what people think he's talking about. - Dropoffs from the 2006 SmarksChoice Top 100
