Watching wrestling under the influence
Went to a number of ROH shows with friends that often involved getting shitfaced because there was no way they were going to watch wrestling without alcohol. So while I barely remember Joe & Danielson vs. KentaFuji, I do remember how much fun we had chanting for Joe all night. But those nights were few and far between. I'll always have a drink (meaning a single drink) before going out to dinner on Saturday and will usually watch some wrestling then, but that's not exactly getting hammered. Otherwise generally stone cold sober unless someone comes over to watch a PPV and we crack a beer. Basically its like going to or watching a game. If I really want to enjoy it then that's not a night to consume copiously.

Sunny Side Up: In Through the Backdoor
I have no earthly idea what possessed me to click on this thread again this morning. But I did. And your review of this film validated and rewarded my decision to do so. While I have zero interest in checking this out, that was some funny shit.

Mayumi Ozaki
Bull, Hokuto, Kong, Toyota, perhaps Nagayo. Those are the only joshi performers who will rank ahead of her on my list. But Oz will absolutely rank. A personal favorite heel performer. Brought so much subtlety to the table. Only question is how high I can justify her.

Ricochet
While I can't justify placing him as of 2/6/2016, I fully expect him to merit greater consideration 2 or 4 years from now.

Zack Sabre Jr.
Every single one of his matches feels like I'm watching a 15 year old kid fight an adult. Its not fair, its not right but it is exactly what I think when watching them. There's little basis to justify him reading a list of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, much less placing on one, given that. I'm someone who couldn't care less about whether a strike looks like a shoot, but his offense is more reminiscent of our middle school Gilbert & Sullivan renditions than rasslin.

Who Will You Be the High Vote On?
That would make me very happy.

WCW ongoing thread
Boom! Consider it done.

WCW ongoing thread
Looking to kill some time before dinner tonight and after watching some classic wrestling all afternoon I want something a little lighter or fun. How about a suggestion of a '97 or later WCW PPV for me to tee up on the network?

Who Will You Be the High Vote On?
Card subject to change, but Danielson is currently my #4. Really wanted to get him at #1 but I can't justify it right now.

WWE DVD Best of Clash of the Champions - matches selected
I have no idea who the target audience is for a set like this as you'd imagine most folks interested in this material already have the Network and thus have no use for this or any other DVD set. Perhaps the hope is some casual fans (who are nonetheless looking at the match list on a comp DVD?) will see a gimmick match mixed in with some big names and be intrigued? No real rhyme or reason because the Network should dry up the real dvd market.

Thanks, much appreciated.

WWE Network... It's Here
Anyone know where to find the Collections section on PS4? Easily accessible on PC but I don't see it on the console.

WrestleMania 32
I know injuries decimated the roster and there's been a lot of talk about the lineup heading in this direction, but actually seeing it spelled out like that is a pretty big bummer. Put it in an arena rather than a stadium and nothing about that says Mania.

The Art of Writing Match Reviews
1) Read the entire thing unless the play by play (or some other part) becomes absurdly and unnecessarily long, at which point we start skimming. Doesn't happen with yours or others who's review I enjoy. 2) Yes. Sometimes a reminder of things I may have forgotten about a match, but always provides context for your concluding thoughts. 3) Brief context, what happened and any context for that, what you thought of the match, what did/didn't work and why. That's all! I like star ratings or some kind of statement that allows for a comparative evaluation. I appreciate putting it in perspective with other matches a reviewer has seen. 4) In no particular order yours, soup23, Sleeze, Loss, PeteF3, probably a few other standouts I'm forgetting off the top of my head. 5) Ideally, exactly what I said in #3 above. My problem is I'll often go watch more instead of stopping to review something. Hope that helps. Keep up the great work!

[1985-12-28-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Ric Flair vs Ronnie Garvin
What an absolutely incredible match. We can throw out platitudes, but what television matches are in the same stratosphere? Definitely feels like an all-timer in that department. I also think this is among the most audible matches ever. Listening to those chops and the stiff offense in a studio setting was just incredible. Not sure how many other matches where you could rely on the audio that strongly.

Lucha Underground Season 2 debuts tonight.
Why is Jim Cornette even a name garnering any attention in 2016. Hasn't it been over 20 years since he's done anything arguably relevant in wrestling?

Dr. Wagner Jr.
Love the Park brawl from TXT and the Mistico match from '07. Does he have others at that level?

Lucha Underground Season 2 debuts tonight.
Just watched, and I had absolutely forgotten how much I love this show. Mil-Ivelisse is completely preposterous, but they put it that match together so smartly that it worked in this world. Really incredible how this feels like a TV show with wrestling matches rather than a wrestling show. Cannot wait for next week.

Lucha Underground Season 2 debuts tonight.
Some people can suspend their disbelief in a male vs female match. Others can't. LU generally makes it something I don't find preposterous job training context of their world, but haven't seen the mil/ivelisse match yet so can't comment.
