This is a great point. Summer will not overshadow Rusev. If the valet wins we all lose.

Undertaker and Sting to work Summerslam
I think the Cena match at Summerslam may be juts as responsible for his aura now.

Is Daniel Bryan Nearing The End Of The Road?
That's more like it. Even if just wishful thinking.

That really, really sucks.

BIG wrestling vs. small wrestling
I definitely prefer the big, speak loudly to you stuff. But I want it spoken to me, not screamed at me. I also appreciate the little things as the stuff that goes on a sandwich besides the meat -- condiment, cheese, bread, maybe some vegetables. You can have an excellent sandwich without them, but something excellent needs those twists. But I'm a meateater. If you serve me a sandwich with nothing but greens and mayo -- even on some out of this world bread -- I'm either going to throw it at you or throw it up. How's that for stream of consciousness?

Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Tyler Breeze at NXT Takeover in Brooklyn on 8/22
Meltzer sure thinks this whole this is about countering ROH, but I'm sure you know better Absolutely about countering them. But countering is not fearing.

The biggest problem for UFC in letting Rousey go to WWE isn't how she's booked, as that likely won't be an issue, but rather handing one of her buyrates to WWE rather than keep it in house. She's likely to transition to movies at some point. She may eat a punch at some point. The shelf life here is limited so to give arguably her biggest number ever to your competition rather than hand you the cash to see her is a pretty big deal.

Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Tyler Breeze at NXT Takeover in Brooklyn on 8/22
This is what is really the most interesting part of it. I mean I guess if you're New Japan and WWE asks you, do you want to risk pissing them off? Only if the price is better than what you're getting from the ROH relationship long-term.

What are the bigger picture ramifications of this? Liger isn't taking a booking on his own against NJPW talent a few subway stops away. Any details on all of this yet?

Flair's podcast (WOOOOONation)
The material doesn't bother me. Perhaps sad at times, but it doesn't trouble me. But the chewing is like nails on a chalkboard.

Flair's podcast (WOOOOONation)
The eating was actually enough for me to shut it down. I don't need impeccable production or sound quality but I won't listen to chewing.

Wrestling board games
This reminds me of a game I got back in the day where there were player cards for all the wrestlers and various match types and you'd roll die to go move by move. This was pre-cable when all I knew about the NWA was from the Apter mags so being able to run a texas death or bunkhouse stampede with Dusty & Flair was amazing.

Not exactly this week's TV but what the hell. I'm watching Summerslam 2005 on the Network and right before the main event they cut to the announcers and it looks like seated just behind them and to their right is the fan with the famous shocked face when Taker lost at Mania last year. Pretty cool.

Giant Baba
As the working style evolved, Baba seemed to keep trying to add stuff that fit into being a "wrestler" in that era. Dude added a DDT because wrestlers in his promotion did moves. If you count up the moves he did in 1969 with the Destroyer (or other similar late 60s / early 70s stuff on tape), than chart what he added after that, it's pretty amazing how he evolved as the sport got more spotty / higher tech. He was freaking Baba, a major star and didn't have to do it. But he was smart. How difficult is it for wrestlers to add moves to their repertoire? I don't have a sense for how difficult or easy that is.

WCW would've done the exact same nonsense before Mania last year and paid it off with Bryan losing on the undercard. They'd literally rub it in your face.

I hear you. I guess the key words for me are "for every payoff" because there are enough of them to maintain optimism about the product week in and week out. Plus quality matches even if often numb to them because of presentation. Bottom line, there's enough that isn't pure trash and and its worst its usually just poor wrestling on TV, whereas during its death spiral WCW was simply unwatchable TV. Years and years (decades) at this point of goodwill goes a long way. Plus they obviously do something right to find a few new fans, whether it be lucking into a Cena type, putting out great merchandise that's accessible for kids or countless other little things. They're pretty good about maintaining a floor and should be able to do so as long as USA is on board.
