  1. Until there's someone else with a similarly sized checkbook and a desire to use it, none of this really matters.
  2. Yeah, its been on a rocket for the last 5-6 months and up something over 150% in the last year. At least I didn't miss out on the entire run. Question is how long this love lasts if the network doesn't put up boffo numbers to start. I think the "free" trial week will be key to that as it'll force people to actively cancel their accounts, but still allow the company to deliver a healthy number of subs. Pull that off and they can likely ride quite a bit of momentum for another quarter or 2. If not, we'll see how convincingly they can sell the growth story without early support.
  3. No doubt about it. The guy is laid back, fun and as GH noted, can offer up interesting insights on TNA and Mexico while also keeping up with WWE for the most part. He's also great about not hogging the mic.

You only get one return from an absence.
  5. Whatever the reality is, it looks like they're doing a pretty good job spinning the TV bidding and potential upside of the network. Stock was up 7.5% today.
  6. Corny's tough for me to tolerate on his own, but you pair him with Alice and its beyond unbearable. I think Konnan, Court & MSL have a good thing going on the weekly show and also enjoy the Bauer & Pollack pod a ton. Just breezes by and always interesting and entertaining. She on the other hand brings nothing to the table.
  7. That you can't imagine other people seeing and enjoying things differently than yourself isn't something sad about me, but sad about you. Unless you are a cyborg or something, I call BS on feeling emotion while not suspending disbelief. What's your point? I buy into the story of a movie or a wrestling match without believing its real. I can get fully invested in things varying from The Devil Wears Prada to The Wire to True Detective to Hokuto vs. Kandori to Cena vs. Cesaro without for a split second believing any of it is real. Its not only BS, but some high on a kite, elitist BS to tell me I can't enjoy it unless I convince myself that fiction is in fact non-fiction.
  8. The heels dominate the first fall working over Eddy pretty well before triple pinning Santo. Casas doing yeoman's work as a heel there, adding in little touches like blocking the ref from seeing Santo tag Konnan and then taunting him after the fact. Konnan was over like a boss here. Just an absolute star to these fans. Loved Santo's plancha in the third. Caras low blows Konnan for a DQ in the 3rd fall to further their feud. I remember heading how heated this was at the time but it hasn't felt that way going back through the matches yet. Just not as hateful and urgent as you'd want about of a blood feud. **3/4
  9. Will the necessary PS3 updates be available for download before Monday or will I have to do that in the background while watching Raw that night?
  10. Man Rey is so skinny here. Fun stuff from the heels getting in each other's faces early when things don't go their way. Business in the first fall really picks up with the dive train, especially an awesome one by Psicosis. The faces seem to win the first fall by countout but as noted by others its not entirely clear. The rudos dominate the 2nd fall in typical fashion, then the 3rd fall hits and that's a bit more disjointed. Yet another great dive train with everyone missing their spots but remaining well protected throughout. I couldn't explain to you how the 3rd fall was decided, but between the flying in the opening and closing falls and the heel dominance in the second, I was not disappointed. But I am still waiting for the AAA triot match from this era to absolutely blow me away. Hasn't happened yet. ***1/4
  11. How good was this match before we joined in? Race gives Windham a strap but Sting gets a hold of it and pins Windham. Sting actually hangs Windham over the ropes afterwards before Vader saves and the ref reverses the decision. Hell of a simple and effective angle. All hail Windham!
  12. Cornette & all three Bodies are out to interrupt Jim Ross. Cornette calls out Watts and pretty soon the RNR come out, Watts says they can settle it now in the ring and they start wrestling in their awful sweatpants, which has a really minor league feel to it. Fortunately, the match we get is a pretty damn good version of Bodies vs. RNR, held back only by the time it was given. Its more exciting than the one from SMW TV earlier in the week and has a hot studio crowd before a DQ finish with Eaton's interference. Would love more of this from them.
  13. Doink switching from serious to evil here is great. Really unique and unlike anyone else on the scene.
  14. Lawler & Jarrett promo setting up a tag match with Christopher & Doink.
  15. Lawler says Doink's from WWF and Memphis wrestling is better than WWF/WCW. He brings out Downtown Bruno who's had issues with Howard Finkel, and we get Clips of Fink with Whippleman & Kamala in WWF and then laying Fink out. Fink then delivers an *awesome* heel promo -- making fun of the South, Mid South Coliseum. Now this was just great. Would've been fun to see him get a run on the mic like this in the WWF, even a brief one to see how effective he'd be.
  16. Jarrett chases Christopher, Doink trips him up with oil and they double team him until Lawler saves. I suppose I might find this a lot of one as my local product if I had a real attachment to the promotion, but it wasn't my local product and I had no attachment, so its not all that memorable.
  17. https://twitter.com/VinceMcMahon/status/436229319107805184 Batista isn't going heel before a movie, and if I were Marvel, I'd have a big problem with it as well. But man is this going to make for an awkward Mania.
  18. It absolutely is. No clue why that bothers me when a few guys setting up and holding position to catch someone on a dive isn't nearly as troubling. Not like it ruins a match or anything, just a spot I'll see, wonder why the hell its happening and then get back to business. If I was getting that caught up in something so insignificant we'd have a bigger problem to address.
  19. Instead off crashing into him, how about stopping and punting him? Or a stomp to his back? I realize how silly this sounds but why open yourself to give someone a free shot like that?
  20. Exactly. I loved Cena/Cesaro. I thought they did a great job building, incorporating and executing a number of big spots. After the finish they had me thinking Cesaro might actually win. That uncertainty was real because for a minute there I doubted the outcome that I thought was a lock going into the match. But at no point did I believe what was happening was "real."
  21. Fair point. Not sure where I saw it recently that I got so hung up on it. How often does the guy running the ropes get tripped? I can't recall an instance but there must be examples. What about in singles matches -- what's the logic there?
  22. So X lies down flat on his stomach to trip Y? Has this ever worked? Why not just stand in the middle of the ring with your eyes closed and offer a free shot?
  23. Speaking of bad wrestling, what is up with the spot when a wrestler whips his opponent into the ropes and then lies down in the middle of the ring? In what world is the velocity associated with being whipped into and coming off of the ropes so incredible that it prevents someone from noticing their opponent is lying face down and defenseless? Just one of those things I can't even fathom an explanation for that drives me mad.
  24. I don't remember the last time I was able to suspend disbelief such that any point I actually believed what I was watching was real. The closest may be in a match where the finish is in question and you pop for the underdog's near falls. But there is no way to pregame enough to get me thinking this stuff is real, no matter how much I love it.
