Just listened to the Bret Hart episode this morning. Is the story about Andre supposedly getting the Freebirds fired widely circulated? It was the first time I'd heard that.

The heels dominate early and take the first fall, then post Atlantis low and continue dominating the match. The face comeback is strong and this is clearly a much better match than the AAA offering from the same day. It felt much better paced with smoother transitions, better high spots and a lot less crazy my turn/your turn. Loved Atlantis and Casas here. ***1/2

I liked Rey & especially Psicosis's heel work, along with some of the comedy spots early. Also a neat triple submission during the 2nd fall. But this felt like a long, poorly structured imitation of your average Nitro match from that era. The dives are always nice but this just wasn't anything so hot. ***

Taue is far from elite in 1992, but he's one of my favorites because of how surly and different he comes across compared to some others in Japan. I like him working Hansen's lariat arm just like Misawa in the Carnival final. They trade chair shots as Stan gives him quite a bit on offense. The blown bulldog was pretty ugly. Standard Hansen finish, but Taue's on the rise. ***

Fujinami and Hash with a nice little exchange trading strikes early on. Hash really looks like a legit immoveable object so anytime he's taken down it feels like a big deal. This was definitely too long, but I liked the booking featuring Hash & Sasaki and the finish was pretty sick. **3/4

Hot crowd & opening with Koshinaka's butt bump to floor right away followed by a Yakuza kick from Chono. Yet another reminder why average at Korakuen is better than most stuff elsewhere. Cool spot where Kosh goes to the top, Chono follows him and they trash talk before Chono hits a superplex. Kosh then opens a major gusher which Chono works to great heat, setting the crowd up big for Kosh's comeback. Dramatic finish in the middle of the ring, followed by a heated post-match. Chona wins with STF after struggling to secure it in the middle. Chono goes for handshake afterwards, Kosh slaps him and takes him out with kick. Fun post-match which leaves you wanting more Skinheads vs. New Japan. Only thing lost on me is I thought the Skinheads were heels but they're seemingly treated as faces here. Is that just a Korakuen quirk? ***1/2

Cautious trading of kicks early. Probably too cautious as it felt slow for a while. That's followed by a neat sequence of attempted submissions. Flynn scores a knockdown with an offense heavy on kicks and strikes before Shamrock secures the tap with an armbar. Not bad for the style but nothing stellar. ***

Really stiff strikes by Takahashi on the ground. Brutally grinding his fist and forearm on Ishikawa is great feels a lot more violent and different from other stuff on the set. Ishikawa's eye is noticeably bruised and after delivering that beating Takahashi secures a half crab for the win. I haven't seen any of Ishikawa's modern stuff but am definitely intrigued. ***1/2

JIP, Rude makes Nikita look very good, bumping for him and painting him as a threat. Awesome piledriver from Rude. Nikita is DQ'd for throwing Rude over the top in a really bad finish. The brawl continues in the dressing room where all the heels pile on Nikita before the faces eventually come for the save. Was there ever a payoff for this? **1/4

Ventura talks about Vader winning the title at the Blast, which is beyond embarrassing. Otherwise a good heel promo from Vader.

Great presence from both Savage & Warrior here, even if one of them was spewing some mindless nonsense. This feels like a huge match but Warrior's speaking doesn't help much. Flair & Perfect are out to say that Flair's better than both and then Perfect delivers a dumb impersonation of Savage, who attacks and is jumped by Perfect. Warrior saves and picks up the belt, and they're eventually broken up by officials. Pretty long angle for Superstars and definitely seemed effective in building the PPV.

This reads like a '99 Nitro main event. And unfortunately it was about as good, even though the talent level here was off the charts. We've got our first JR appearance in the WWF on the yearbook. Some nice slaps by Savage on Flair early. Flair, Michaels & Sherri look to be trying reasonably hard, Perfect is a zero at ringside, Savage doesn't do much and Hart is a bystander much of the way. Savage pins HBK after bumping Sherri. **1/2

Disasters win the tag titles after a briefcase shot by IRS misses and hits Dibiase. Pretty big pop. Disasters moved well for big guys.
