[1992-05-09-WCW-Saturday Night] Nikita Koloff vs Mr. Hughes
Am I crazy or was Mr. Hughes pretty good? Had a great heel presence, and pulled off working in a tie and sunglasses pretty damn well. I've been impressed with him throughout the year. The finish didn't look so great. Perhaps this was good for a Nikita match but otherwise nothing so hot. **1/2

Wrestlemania 29 Thoughts
A few thoughts after attending Mania this weekend: I had an incredible time there with my friends and crossed off "attend Mania" from my bucket list. The crowd was unquestionably tepid for much of the show, but in the building there was still a great atmosphere with everyone jacked to be part of such a big show even if much of what we saw didn't set anyone's world on fire. That being said, I doubt I'd go to another Mania unless I had truly spectacular, i.e. the most expensive seats in the house. Much like football, stadium wrestling is just better in HD on a big screen. Punk/Taker was clearly the highlight. Between the streak, presentation and spots the crowd was amped for this throughout. Combine the comedown from that with the fact that absolutely no one wanted to see Triple H and it was clear pretty quickly that match was going to die. At least in my area, there were a ton of audible groans when Trips locked him in the Kimura. Finishing stretch in the main event was exciting and felt big in the house. I don't care what anyone says, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

2013 Indymania Weekend
Didn't order ROH as the product has done nothing to interest me for a while and this new Scum angle isn't exactly setting my world on fire. That said, sounded like Lethal/Elgin was good and I'm definitely interested in the Briscoe title win. Did not see that happening at all and am curious where they're going with it.

[1991-06-29-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Eric Embry
Interesting, for me his mic work has completely outshined his stuff in the ring. He's no slouch there but also doesn't stand out to me as anything especially memorable.

[1991-06-29-WCW-Saturday Night] Trading Cards Commercial / P.N. News Great American Bash Commercial
Man I had *completely* forgotten about those cards with the black border and gold stars, but can absolutely picture them now. Probably in a box at my parent's apt with all my other sports cards.

[1991-06-29-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Eric Embry
Since you've watched all the yearbooks, where would you (and anyone else that's seen him) rank Embry on the mic all time? I've been blown away by what I've seen thus far. Maybe he doesn't have the range some others do, but I don't recall hearing much about him as a classic promo and that's my impression thus far.

GOAT at WrestleMania
Nice, definitely one I should check out again. Strikes me as one of those matches that wasn't so incredible the first time around so you sort of trash it in your mind, then go back and see these two beasts throwing some bombs and it beyond exceeds your expectations.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Got it. Never sensed he was quite that close with Flair.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Also Dave had a terrible week in his personal life as he explained on the board. What happened?

DWB lost a loser leaves town match and DWG wants people to write in and get him reinstated. She's better off not speaking.

[1992-05-09-USWA-TV] Eddie Gilbert and Tom Prichard
Gilbert arrives with GWF Title. I don't remember the details but assume Gilbert walked out on Global? Gilbert looks big time with the suit and his presence on the mic. When Pritchard comes out we've now got GWF, USWA and SMW representation on tv all at once. Gilbert agrees to put the GWF title up against Pritchard and then wants a USWA title shot. 21 years later this works for me.

Local promo for a show at Boston Garden on 6/6. I loved seeing these for MSG shows back in the day.

[1992-05-08-UWFi-Combat Sports] Nobuhiko Takada vs Gary Albright
Takada looked great here, seeking out an armbar on the ground and delivering quick, crisp strikes. He also has legit superstar charisma. No question a huge part of that is Albright, who really was a great fit in UWFI and this style with a unique presence. I still haven't figured out scoring in UWFI and can get a bit thrown by how the points are moving, but it doesn't detract from this at all. Simple spots like a back suplex by Takadda after lots of grappling and striking get big reactions. Albright's strategy throughout was to maul Takada and take things to the ground. His dead lift German was great and another finishes it. ***1/2

[1992-05-08-UWFi-Combat Sports] Nick Bockwinkel vs Billy Robinson
I *loved* their match on the 80s All Japan set. One of my favorites there. This was not that match. Thesz's intros were biting and fun, and it was cool to see them go at it in 1992, but this is pure nostalgia. **1/4

[1992-04-17-AJPW-Championship Carnival] Stan Hansen vs Mitsuharu Misawa
While Hansen never quite clicked with Misawa the way he did with Kobashi or Kawada, I still thought this was a good match that told an excellent story. Misawa's focus on the lariat arm throughout the match was great and they never strayed far from this theme. Hansen back with elbows, chops and back suplex. Power bomb only gets 2. Misawa breaks out his frog splash, facelock and elbow but at this stage its not enough to overcome Hansen. While he doesn't get to kick out, Misawa escapes one lariat with a foot on the rope before a second one secures the fall. I liked this a lot. ***3/4

[1992-05-02-WCW-Saturday Night] Arn Anderson vs Big Josh (2/3 falls)
Hervey was truly awful. Good early stooging from Arn. Great work from Arn on Josh's arm in second fall after post shot, using an armbar/DDT-type takedown and hammerlock. When Ross brought up Gordon Solie & Lance Russell to Hervey you knew he shared your thoughts on his co-host. This wasy way too long, but Arn deserves a ton of credit carrying it as far as he did, though there was no reason to go this long and Hervey really made it rough. **3/4
