[1992-01-21-WCW-Clash of the Champions XVIII] Music Video: Fabulous Freebirds
Awful. You can put up with a lot of trash from CT over the years because it would be well produced and look professional. That is not the case here, so instead of going along with the show you're sitting there thinking about terrible something is and it completely takes you out of the show. Why even bother?

[1992-01-21-WCW-Clash of the Champions XVIII] Big Van Vader & Mr Hughes vs Rick & Scott Steiner
Concur with Zero above that I have no idea how Hughes' glasses remained in place through a match like this. They may have been just a heavyweight spot fest, but it felt incredibly fresh and everyone was flying all over the place. I forgot how well Hughes could fit into this type of match. He and Vader really sold like crazy, including Vader taking a top rope belly to belly. This was the first Clash I'd seen live as we got cable the previous fall and it was definitely a fun show. ***1/2

[1992-01-21-AJPW-New Year's Giant Series] Jumbo Tsuruta vs Toshiaki Kawada
My #1 match of January. Just awesome. I think I prefer this to 10/91 but perhaps that's because this feels fresher. We've got the huge slap from Jumbo at the opening, the struggle for the power bomb later, and Kawada kicking out of backdrop suplex before succumbing to a second. Hell of a standout performance for Kawada as he rises to to become Misawa's top TC contender by year end. ****1/4

[1992-01-19-WWF-Royal Rumble] Royal Rumble
Classic Rumble and with good reason. A ton of highlights which have most mostly already been touched on. The star power was certainly off the charts. It may be the Flair show but I'd forgotten how incredible a call Heenan provided here. A few things that stood out to me: Flair & Valentine trading stiff chops all these years later, the Flair/Michaels segment early on that was probably a highlight for HBK and fun to see in retrospect andSlaughter taking by far the bump of the night on the way out. The finish was incredibly well booked to set up the Hogan/Justice pairing which felt bigger than it ended up being, and Flair's classic "tear in my eye" promo backstage with the belt. Just awesome. Tough to rate something like this, but ****1/4 feels about right.

[1992-01-19-Hamada's UWF] Lightning Kid & Jerry Lynn & Dr Wagner Jr vs Dos Caras & Silver King & El Texano
Might be the first entry on my rewatch list as I enjoyed this but didn't love it the way some others did. Kid looked great and like someone who naturally fit into this style. I also enjoyed the lucha spots where masks were being ripped in a camel clutch. Overall nothing wowed me though. ***

WWE Network finally happening
I'm not in their finance department so I don't have to run the numbers, but assuming they offered it on a month to month basis, they simply have to believe that enough people will subscribe for $12-$15 / month beyond those who already buy every PPV. I may purchase a couple PPV's a year, but would easily pay a much lower fee for this channel, likely with or without PPVs included.

PPVs will remain available to non-network subscribers.

Mark Henry
Henry/Goldberg was awesome. Like watching one of those crash test dummy PSA's where the wall eventually breaks. Except you're cheering for the wall.

[1992-01-18-WCW-Pro] Rick Rude & Steve Austin & Bobby Eaton vs Sting & Ricky Steamboat & Marcus Bagwell
Fun DA 6 man tag with everything building to Sting getting in with Rude and MAB predictably taking the fall. I absolutely see the criticisms about these good matches not necessarily building towards much, but War Games and the Steamboat angle in the spring would at least provide some more structure and focus. Meanwhile, no complaints about weekly action like this. ***1/4

Mad Dogs, Midgets and Screw Jobs
Interesting, if I can get the Kindle version for free that's a no brainer.

Mad Dogs, Midgets and Screw Jobs
Okay sounds like we're buying the real thing. Will have to find a couple others suitable for the kindle on vacation.

Is this something I can easily read on the Kindle or are there a lot of photos that would make picking up a hard copy worthwhile?

[1992-01-18-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Hulk Hogan
Hogan calls back feuds and angles with Andre, Savage, the Hebners, Slaughter and Undertaker. Flashback clips to all of these were fun.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Pretty much. Listening to him tout Dr. Maroon as some combination of James Andrews and the Pope was pretty funny. He basically said as long as guys are passing tests under the wellness policy, it doesn't matter what else they may be doing. I was on the fence about getting HOF tickets but leaning against it now.

[1992-01-17-USWA-Kennett, MO] Jeff Jarrett & Jerry Lawler vs The Moondogs
Insane and spectacular fun. Lawler seems to replace Fuller early on, but who cares. This makes some of the early 80s concession stand brawls look like amateur hour and for those who hadn't seen much Memphis, changes the narrative about ECW being all that innovative in its time. Jarrett gets some nasty cuts and everyone is lucky if that's the most damage that came out of this. MEMPHIS! ***3/4

[1992-01-15-PWFG] Naoki Sano vs Jerry Flynn
Really fun, different match from everything else going on. Flynn's kicks were the story here with Sano selling them as destructive strikes. There was good work on the ground trading leg locks and working for armbars before Flynn went back to his kicks, with Sano capitalizing and catching an enzuigiri for a crab finish. ***3/4

[1992-01-11-USWA-TV] Jeff Jarrett & Robert Fuller vs The Moondogs
We join in progress our 2nd great Moondogs brawl of the month, and this is just as wild and crazy as the last one. Jarrett & Fuller do a promo setting up a no DQ match to follow. I'm allergic to dogs and not a huge fan, but becoming an unabashed lover of moondogs.
