Greatest Royal Rumble?
So I've been watching kind of halfheartedly while also taking care of some other things. It is a work day, or so I'm told. It feels like a different and at times fun crowd, aside from the VIP's sitting in front of the hard cam who seem unaware they're at a show and are just hanging. Thus far all of the matches seem around average for a mid-card TV match. Some a little longer, some a little shorter, but nothing particularly standout. Anybody loving things thus far or is that pretty on point?

Proposal for 2018: Match Review Trades
Keep me out for now, please. Between playoffs, NFL Draft tomorrow, the all time bestest greatest royal rumble friday and a couple big NJPW shows this weekend, my backlog is about to get bigger.

Dave's Bruno biography in this week's issue was absolutely incredible.

I'm referring to him refusing to wrestle, not the attack.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Can anyone shed some light on the commonality of English in Japanese promotions? Whether its certain wrestlers' name (Kushida and KENTA come to mind). various sponsors that are displayed on the ring or around arenas or even certain words that are clearly identifiable by announcers, its in stark contrast to the presence of foreign terms one would find here. Just curious what's behind it and why these words aren't typically translated or presented in Japanese?

JVK, what have you been watching lately? Haven't seen much in these parts. I'm also happy to hear about it here if it moves people away from what happened to this thread.

Love it when a big man takes a suplex. I'm also a big fan of stiff knees to counter a suplex.

Anyone want to talk suplexes?

What are you watching?
Last weekend's WXW show. Gresham/Lethal from ROH last weekend. Perhaps some Progress from Mania weekend. Certain choice selections from 1995 courtesy of the Village, and eventually returning to 2000. And NBA Playoffs. So little time.

You are not alone. Coach is much, much easier to tune out.

T-Bone Tazplex. Definitely one of the first that came to mind. He'd also make a mighty compelling case to take that crown. I feel like a Kobashi half-nelson, or Steve Williams backdrop driver -- if we're counting that as a suplex -- would pose strong challenges.

What suplex do people think is most deserving of the military industrial moniker?

Dave Meltzer stuff
They noted that he often drew gates of 20,000 at MSG and said he had more than 200 matches there.

Why because Bruno just died today. That's why people don't like it. I saw that he paid tribute and that's the right thing to have done. A significant news story ? It's a fecking sell out number for msg from over forty years ago. I'm not desperate to be outraged but bringing it up today but now isn't the time or place. Bruno's death is a significant news story. I know that when I'm writing an obituary for a prominent person, which I've done plenty of times, I work extra hard to get the facts right. An obituary is like the final word on someone's life. If anything, I'd argue it's more important to be careful with the details in that context. I know if I were writing Bruno's obituary, I would be happy that Dave, as an authority in the field, clarified this point. Unfortunately many people become vigilantes when armed with a keyboard. Facts are good, especially when relevant and important. It just so happens that the openness with which they're presented these days often allows for and encourages immediate responses without requiring facts or civility. One can argue that Dave's Twitter conduct in general invites this type of nonsense and he may very well bring it upon himself. But that doesn't mean there's any less merit to discussing all aspects of Bruno's career and historical record. Its hardly as though he's harassing the family with these facts.

WWE TV 4/16-4/22, it's getting drafty in here...
If Bryan can make Cass look serviceable, I'm going to swap his name in for Moses at Passover next year.

Almas! Seriously, are AJ & Bryan going to Raw? This seems absurd.
