[2000-02-25-JAPW-Valentine's Day Massacre] Low Ki vs Don Montoya (Shoot Fight)
Montoya seems much better suited to being a heel and really had the crowd against him during the opening promo. I really enjoyed the "shoot fight" with its emphasis on matwork and reversals. Low Ki was impressive when working from underneath. Watch how he punches Montoya in the side or moves his feet to gain position when trying to get out of holds. Low Ki decimated that small guy after the match. Very good match.

[2000-02-25-JAPW-Valentine's Day Massacre] Da Hit Squad vs The Big Unit (Rick Silver & Dave Desire) vs Russ & Charlie Haas (Elimination)
The early part of this was a mess with people standing around waiting for dives. The guys in the Big Unit really struggled as they botched a lot of moves. Da Hit Squad were the only compelling part of the match, since they had some strong offensive moves. The match seemed really long, and needed to be cut in half. Below average.

[2000-02-25-FMW] Tetsuhiro Kuroda vs Willie Takayama
The commentators and the crowd were laughing, but I didn't understand what was funny. An okay match with nothing much standing out.

[2000-02-22-BJW-Exite Series] Tomoaki Honma vs Abdullah Jr Kobayashi (Barbed Wire Board and Ladder Death)
I preferred the Kanemara/Yamakawa match to this one, as I didn't get into the big spots in this one. The barbed wire board didn't really seem to cut them much so it didn't seem devastating. I did like the spot near the end where Honma jumped on the ladder and catapulted it into Kobayashi's face. Average match.

[2000-02-20-NJPW-Fighting Spirit] Shinjiro Otani & Tatsuhito Takaiwa vs Kendo Kashin & Minoru Tanaka
This one was technically fine, but was bland, as Otani didn't have the character moments he usually brings to a match. Kashin's low blows were the only thing interesting, but they didn't really do anything with them. Average match.

[2000-02-20-NJPW-Fighting Spirit] Koji Kanemoto vs AKIRA
Kanemoto and AKIRA got off to a heated start with lots of slapping strikes. Kanemoto brings the hate by ripping AKIRA's jacket and then the mask off his face. Kanemoto had him screaming while kicking his leg, but he seemed to recover easily and eventually win. I wished they could have kept up the early heat throughout the match, but otherwise a good match.

[2000-02-20-AJPW] Vader & Steve Williams vs Jun Akiyama & Kenta Kobashi
Kobashi gets totally destroyed. The match built well with early grappling between Akiyama and Williams and good exchanges with Kobashi and Vader, but they amped it up with the finishing stretch. Kobashi is given a sick dragon suplex from Williams and then constantly double teamed until he had nothing left. Williams continues to surprise with his comeback in 2000. Excellent match.

[2000-02-20-Saitama Pro] Survival Tobita vs Kendo Azteca
Survival Tobita takes on a Kendo Nagasaki imitator. Tobita gets beat with the stick for most of the match, but rips up the mat and uses it to take the advantage. Funny.

[2000-02-20-Osaka Pro] Super Delphin & Yoshito Sugamoto & Tsubasa vs Dick Togo & Black Buffalo & Policeman
I always wonder if Super Delfin ever pokes anybody in the eye with his beak. This was a fun match with all the guys looking good and they tagged out enough to cover up lack of selling in the high speed style. The accuracy in kicking that briefcase was the most impressive part of the match.

[2000-02-19-IPW] Barry Horowitz vs Marty Jannetty
That taper needed a new camera. Horowitz was doing a good job of heeling and used a variety of holds to work the leg. I wish we could have seen Janetty's face, as I suspect he was selling well and he sold the leg after the match as he limped off before getting attacked by Horowitz.

[2000-02-19-OVW-TV] Rico Constantino vs Flash Flanagan
The two wrestlers were having a good match, but unfortunately it gets ruined. The match has a fast start, but they immediately cut away to show Conway talking with Cornette. Flanagan takes a huge backdrop over the ring post, but the camera misses it. Rico looks really athletic in his moves, but too bad Cornette screams through the whole match so you can't concentrate on the match. Then we get more ridiculous fighting referees and interference. Cornette should be ashamed, but I sure he thought all of this was genius.

[2000-02-19-MCW-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Bull Pain
The match was a fairly standard Lawler match, but the crowd no longer buys into the aging Lawler, leaving the match without the rabid response of Memphis fans of yesteryear. Dundee bringing in the weapons at the end livens things up. Average match.

[2000-02-18-IPW-St. Pete Slaughter] Scoot Andrews & Jet Jaguar vs Jeff Peterson & Chad Collyer
The guys in the match were all competent, but didn't do anything in terms of character to get the crowd into the match. I cringed when Black Nature Boy did that Owen Hart type of piledriver, but the guy didn't get hurt. All four of the guys looked to have potential. Solid match.

[2000-02-18-IPW-St. Pete Slaughter] Marty Jannetty vs Mike Sullivan
Was Marty supposed to hit himself with the metal or was there somebody standing there that we couldn't see? Marty still looked in shape and the flying body press from up high was cool. Hard to judge the match because of the camera work.

[2000-02-18-IPW-St. Pete Slaughter] Barry Horowitz vs Don Montoya
I grew up watching Barry Horowitz get beat every weekend on television, so there is an element of novelty to seeing him stay on offense for the majority of the match. This was a fun throwback to 80's style wrestling. Average match.

[2000-02-18-AAA] Octagoncito & La Parkita & Mascarita Sagrada vs Mini Abismo Negro & Rocky Marvin & Mini Psicosis
The clipping was really jarring in the first two falls. This was more spots than an actual match. The only real highlight was Octagoncito's impressive high flying.

[2000-02-17-AJPW] Steve Williams vs Kenta Kobashi
This was super clipped, but looked really good. It started off with a gorilla press dropped into the guard rail, and then Williams continued with bomb after bomb on Kobashi. Kobashi finally made a comeback and ended it with an awesome clothesline. Williams has been impressive in his return to Japan after looking so bad in WWF and WCW.

[2000-02-17-AJPW-Excite Series] Vader vs Toshiaki Kawada
I really liked the beginning with the multitude of kicks by Kawada and his attempt to get the cross armbreaker, but it began to drag after Vader took over on offense. Vader no longer looks intimidating, so things like Kawada getting headbutted into the row of seats look like overselling even if it would have worked effectively years earlier. This ended up somewhere between average to good, but not what it could have been with a better in-shape Vader.

[2000-02-13-BattlARTS] Minoru Tanaka vs Hiroyoshi Kotsubo
Kotsubo has a lot of hair. This was a mostly mat based encounter with some nice reversals by Tanaka and Kotsubo. This seemed closer to UWFI type shoot style than the stiff type of wrestling associated with Battlearts guys like Ishikawa. They both battled for the arm, but Tanaka finally won out. Good match.
