WWE Backlash 2018
That was a very fun segment. Good to see the boys getting that bonus paycheck before the euro tour.

Joe vs Reigns is the nth time WWE does a "no one should lose right now, they shouldn't have booked it" match.

Bryan vs. Miz is official? When did that happen? Tonight? (Forgive me, I've basically zoned out the putrid commentary and endless video packages.) When they made Bryan vs Cass official. D-Bry is working Miz in the European tour but I wasn't talking about that.

Miz costing D-Bry the win and then Cass capitalizing and winning semi-clean is the finish I've assumed they are doing since they made the match official.

WWE Backlash 2018
Being called the hottest superstar on the company right now and getting the type of W he got tonight, it's nice seeing them book an IC champ as strong as this. He's also getting a main event run very soon, they don't push a narrative this strongly unless they have bigger plans. It's also nice that Rollins is this over too.

Man I was loving the match and then Rollins did that stupid fucking superplex to falcon arrow spot and then went overboard with that kickout. Oh well, still very fun.

[2018-05-05-BJW] Hideki Suzuki vs Daisuke Sekimoto
Oh no doubt, at the very least they'll get a big singles match this year in the case that Suzuki drops the belt before it happens. After Suzuki won it back, the only guy who cut a promo on Hideki was Nomura and they now have a big tag match in Korakuen in a couple of weeks - Sekimoto/Suzuki vs Nomura/Abe - I can't fucking wait for it
-
[2018-05-05-BJW] Hideki Suzuki vs Daisuke Sekimoto
Very similar match from the one they had last year, I thought the 2017 draw was slightly better a a whole but this year's had better sequences/moments. Like, this time I think Daisuke got more winded and had to rest on a couple of holds and it took longer than last year to get interesting - though not much, 5 minutes in I was already engaged - and the way they transitioned to the desperate bomb throwing and striking didn't come off as good I thought, also I fucking hated the suplex no sell/fighting spirit by Sekimoto at the end. Now, this was still a fucking great fight for control throughout the 30 minutes it lasted and I love these type of "struggle for control" matches. I mean, it takes them 27 minutes to throw the first suplex and 28 min. to throw their first real strike and I didn't care, I was engaged with them just wrestling and finding ways to get on top and take advantage, that's very hard to do, specially when they just stick to wrestling on the mat for so long. I also thought the crowd was more into the ending than last year at Korakuen. Sekimoto no selling the suplex and landing a lariat (which again, hated it, but it worked for the fans live), him doing the German for a near fall, Suzuki being so desperate he did a LOW BLOW that got him booed and the final nearfall hit better than what they tried in 17'. I guess my biggest gripe was how the transitioned to the final sequence, it just felt out of nowhere and they just did stuff from a completely different match, some might say that it makes sense because they got desperate with the time coming up, but it didn't feel that way to me. Anyways, I don't think everyone will enjoy this as much as me and others but if you liked their draw last year, you gotta check this one out because it's a worthy sequel, hell you might even think it's better than I did. Special mention to a sequence that I just LOVED, were Hideki is working Sekimoto's neck and just doesn't let up. He gets bodyslammed twice and doesn't let go of Daisuke's neck, after a couple of minutes of working headlocks and cravats, Suzuki goes for a octopus stretch. He starts torturing Sekimoto's fingers, and at first it looks like he just transitioned to another hold and body part but no, Hideki does it because that makes Daisuke react in a way that leave his head wide open for more torturing. Suzuki then modifies the hold and cranks Sekimoto's neck to the point the crowd reacts like it's a legit submissions attempt. Daisuke then does his patented escape-by-powering up with his legs and it gets a pop. Suzuki looks like the smartest, vicious motherfucker in the world and his opponent like a resilient beast. Everyone wins in that exchange in the crowds eyes and everything makes sense. THAT'S elite level shit.

Current New Japan
The thing with New Japan fandom is that there's so much hyperbole around it that is very hard to have serious discussions. People predicting doom and gloom about New Japan right now are as silly as the ones talking about a legit "boom" in Japan in the last 2 years. I've been bitching about Gedo's booking for more than 3 years not because it's bad for business - though there's been a couple that I've critiqued it because of that - but because it's been lazy and boring as fuck. To the point that I barely watch anymore, it's just easier to follow results and check stuff that sounds interesting. The Omega/Okada part is just being disingenuous, there's a lot of people that don't rate that rivalry as an all timer and has nothing to do with Meltzer. I'm not sure who has been hating on their next match before it even happens though, but that happens with almost every big match in any promotion too, no?

Current New Japan
Judging by Jericho’s physique at the Saudi show, I’d guess we won’t see him again until WWE comes calling again for a couple month run. Well, he did comeback He attacked Naito today to set up an IC Title match for Dominion. It's just a shame how they did nothing with their most over guys for 5 months to set up this encounter with Jericho, hell their whole confrontation was completely forgotten until today. At least the promos and build should be really fun, I expect a ton of fuckery. Bigger news though was that Okada will be defending against Kenny Omega at Dominion for the 2 year anniversary of his reign. It's gonna be a 2 out 3 falls with no time limit (it's gonna be "the first 110 minute 8 star match ever!"). I'd be shocked if Omega doesn't win the big one, but I was already shocked by what Gedo did at WK so we'll see.

Best workers of the 2010s (so far)
The lack of Daisuke Sekimoto in everyone's lists hurts my soul.

AJPW 2018 Champions Carnival
Maru is pretty much made at this point, there's no risk in him jobbing to Kento and even jobbing to Sugiura, though I think he might win the latter one.

WWE TV 04/30 - 05/06
Nakamura with nut shot n°12 was hilarious, he's finally fun to watch as a character. His chest was such a mess after the GRRE the doctors won't let him perform. (For real.) Lol I thought that was kayfabe

Naito won the IC title again. How the hell is that not lazy/repetitive booking? Remember when people were saying him losing at WK was fine because he was working with Jericho?

Roman Reigns as the ace post-Wrestlemania
I agree with this. I mean, Mark Henry went from having a comedy and completely nonthreatening gimmick - as a character and as main event type of guy - for years, to a legit main eventer that even became a draw in a very short span of time. I do agree with the sentiment that Roman is done as a main guy in this current state, he needs a big change and probably a big hiatus before even trying to revive him as a possible n°1 guy. He's Bray Wyatt with good matches status right now. But he's far from done if they ever decide to stop doing the same shit with him over and over and over again.

Roman Reigns as the ace post-Wrestlemania
Has this been reported somewhere? In an interview with WWE.com, Roman Reigns said that he would like to fight Daniel Bryan, possibly at next year’s Wrestlemania 35. Here are highlights: On if Brock was his most difficult opponent: “For me it’s like comparing who is more ‘beast’. Physically this has been the most difficult match because we all know what Brock puts into play every time he gets into a WWE ring. He is one of the biggest and fastest athletes and physically he has been terrible, nothing pleasant, no. When I face him it’s easier to prepare because I know it’s going to be a very physical battle, but when I face people like Undertaker, Triple H and many others it’s more difficult because you have to prepare yourself on the mental plane. I’ve been playing football for many years and it’s one of the toughest sports in the world, so I can tell you that I’m not afraid of Brock and that I’m ready to face him again”. On who he wants to face next: “It’s difficult. The last few years have been a roller coaster of sensations, a great opportunity, but I think I’d like to face Daniel Bryan again. I do not see much of the talents of SmackDown, but I know that he has a medical discharge and that if his health respects him it could be a great match for next year at WrestleMania. Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns. But if it can not be, then I’d like to face the rest of The Shield, Seth and Dean again, I think it would be great too”.

Greatest Royal Rumble?
I don't see Joe going for that type of match.

Greatest Royal Rumble?
And we gotta watch this same match being wrestled for a third time at Backlash?

Greatest Royal Rumble?
I think we need a new term for this kind of match were nothing is sold and there's a bunch of spots but non of them are flippy shit

Greatest Royal Rumble?
Best match of the show. And I'm not even kidding. Told Rusev was going to pull it off.
