Fucking awesome match, exactly what I expect from an interpromotional encounter. A hot crowd, hate and clear faces and heels. Korakuen is firmly behind Strong BJ and Hama uses this to deliver THE performance of his career up to that point (and it may still be it). It's worked refreshingly smart considering who is in the ring and the fact that it's a title match.

First minutes are kinda slow but the match starts building in intensity until Daisuke decides to slap Kota...from then on these 2 went BATSHIT CRAZY, from elbows to stomps to the absolutely brutal headbutts. Man, I wish this had one last Ibushi comeback before getting killed by the champ, but given that Sekimoto had to wrestle a few hours earlier for Big Japan, I was more than pleased with this.

Daisuke smash puny Masa! But Takahashi has a plan and lots of fighting spirit to counter that, he may go a little overboard with his facial expressions and fighting spirit spots but I was so into the match that didn't really care, loved everything this match.The crowd eats up this incredible underdog story that is pretty great for any fan of "David vs Goliath" type of matches.

Haven't rewatched this but this were my thoughts in 2012... Brilliant, just brilliant. I was disappointed with Daisuke's work in the semis against Bad Bones - specially his control section - but man did the guy stepped up in the final. And Yoshihiko....oh man, his work as the underdog was fucking beautiful. Sekimoto gains control in the first minute and proceeds to work over Sasaki's neck, from then on it's all about Yoshihito working from behind trying to overcome Daisuke's brilliant work over that body part. Both men executed their roles to perfection and Korakuen understood what this was all about. The final minutes are outstanding and if you are not rooting for Yoshihito then you don't have a fucking soul.

Haven't rewatched this but this were my thoughts in 2012... So yeah, this was great and oddly enough met my high expectations. Heated as a interpromotional matches between two aces should be. Suwama, aware of Sekimoto's freaky strength, takes out his back and leaves him helpless. Locking in a crab, whipping him in to the barricade, just making him his bitch basically. This is all fuel to Sekimoto's comeback. He sells the back well and leaves you on the edge of your seat whenever he attempts a big power move.

Match of the year? At least is in the discussion for me. This was a fucking battle for survival, with Shuji doing an awesome job at being the dominant champ and Kento being an outstanding underdog Ace. Better than their match from May, mainly because the first half was way more compelling and fun to watch. Miyahara's selling was fucking great, it made you think "how the hell is he going to overcome this" all match long while at the same time doing enough to give you hope that there was still a chance. Sumo Hall was game for this, specially a lady that sat near the commentary booth who screamed during the whole damn match for her beloved Kento (a lot of women in the crowd and they were the ones starting the chants for the young Ace). This was so good it had the first suplex trading spot I've liked in more than a decade - it fit the story and it was only one move instead of three or four - and a one count kick out that had me thinking "it kinda makes sense". The finish might be the weakest part of this whole thing as it felt a little out of nowhere withing the context of the match, I thought it need one more bomb before the three count. But all in all this was fucking great, go watch this as Miyahara once again shows us you can have an incredible match in a reasonable amount of time (25 minutes). Fuck what you heard, Kento is my performer of the year.

Welp, they did it again. This was the Nomura showcase in a Strong BJ formula match, and of course it works like a charm. Fun shine segment with Naoya and KAI getting the upperhand over the two beasts before the young kid gets pummeled by Daisuke, from then on we got the always awesome "small team tries to come back against Sekimoto & Okabayashi" comeback story, with Nomura being the stand out, showing great fire and good offense while a really good Sumo Hall crowd rallies behind him. This had dope spots and nearfalls and kept building drama until the end. Fucking awesome tag match, what a year for Strong BJ, best fucking tag team in the world.

Yeah, this was worked like a regular "veteran vs young guy" match instead of an important title match. I was impressed by Daichi's matwork but after that he kinda went through the motions and didn't start to pick things up till the final sequence, and then the match ended quickly. There was no drama and not a lot of space for Daichi to even sell and mount an interesting comeback. It was a fine match but kind of a waste of a title shot imo, I was hoping we would get the Daichi that faced Sekimoto last year and Okabayashi this year but this was more of a Suzuki showcase putting the kid in his place without much problem.

Not that it is a great reason for Cena to behave the way he did, but I do suspect this is exactly what will happen. If it is Reigns vs Lesnar at Mania, there is nothing to protect in a future rematch, so you might as well give Reigns a decisive win to get him on his way to his Mania showdown and Cena is Cena. When he comes back from the movies, it isn't like he'd be damaged goods or anything like that. At least that is what I hope happens after last night. And Cena is the master of no selling big losses, give him a couple of months off and it's gonna be like he never even wrestled Roman in his (kayfabe) mind

I fail to see the big difference between what happened yesterday and the awful HHH promos against Cena building up to WM 22.

Cena's demeanor in that promo was very HHH-like, didn't like that segment very much. It accomplished very little imo.

Cena vs Reigns announced for No Mercy. They could obviously face again at Mania but lol at them not being able to save their first time matchup for their biggest show.

According to PWMania, Rusev and Lana have asked for their release. I'd love to see Rusev wrestling in a bunch of promotions, and he could make a whole lot of money. Lana can practically do whatever she wants (besides actually wrestling it seems) so good for them if true. D-Bry told a story in the E&C podcast that there was a SD talent that told him how frustrated he was because he was doing everything right but the company wouldn't do shit with him. Bryan's advice was that right now was the best time to make money outside WWE since he's been wrestling, and that he could wait for his contract to end and just go work elsewhere....at first I thought he was talking about Harper or even Zayn, but it coul've been Rusev.

I think there is a little more to the Dave/NJPW relationship than is being said. Dave is responsible for NJPW's current interest level in the English Speaking world along with them coming to ROH. He's extremely favorable to them and despite thinking this is the best stuff ever, he still devotes almost no time into any other Japanese promotion. NJPW being hot helps F4W. It means more subscriptions and more publicity for Dave. Because each promotion in Japan is different. This would be like saying "he loves WWE, but spends almost no time on GFW or any other American promotion". NJPW is the big one in Japan and has been for the past few years. He loves their matches, hence he spends more time covering them. If other fans took his recommendation, but then didn't like NJPW, they wouldn't be breaking through over here. But they do, so it is. They really aren't that different anymore. There's not much of a difference between Zero-1, NJPW, Wrestle-1, AJPW and NOAH and Dave has always prioritized NJPW over the other promotions since the 2000's. Sure Dragon Gate, DDT and BJW have always been a little different, but Dave has never really bothered with those anyway. NJPW being hot is the 2nd best thing that could happen for Dave besides WWE being hot, especially in a world where TNA is basically dead and ROH will never be able to be anything more. To be fair, Dave has said in more than one occasion he watches pimped stuff from All Japan and Big Japan at least. He's a big fan of Sekimoto and Okabayashi, as any normal human being should be
