Wrestlemania
Opener was dumb fun. Better than what I expected so I'm totally fine with the non nonsensical layout and lack of story.

WrestleMania Weekend!!
I thought this was really interesting. Kurt and Bryan talking about how they would've approached a match between them and trying to explain why they didn't take the smartest decisions when it came to their healths. I'd love to see the full conversation as it's clear it was edited to be shorter than 10 minutes.

Speculation on the WrestleMania 33 card
If Mania was a super well booked show with potential great matches in it, I'm pretty sure a whole lot of people would be excited about it. I know I would at least.

WWE TV 3/27 - 4/2
This has been said for close to a decade now when it's Wrestlemania week, I've never agreed with it until now, but.....this doesn't feel like Mania week at all, I feel no hype around it and even though I'll watch the show, it doesn't have any special aura around it.

[2017-03-20-DDT] HARASHIMA vs Konosuke Takeshita
HARASHIMA © vs Konosuke Takeshita - DDT 20th Anniversary show This had two parts. The first were the opening 20 minutes were the action was really methodical and slowly paced, they took turns working an opponent's body part and everything was done in a compelling or "makes sense" way. The thing was that Saitama was silent as all fuck during this, after 5+ hours of wrestling I couldn't blame them though, as they were engaged during the other matches and they just saved themselves for the final sequence. The last 10 minutes they pick it up a notch, start trading bombs and showing more fighting spirit/no selling. Fucking LOVED Takeshita during this, it felt like it was his moment to take and breh pulled out all the stops, using moves from every big ally and rival he's had over the years while at the same time showing vulnerability as the young stuff who still has ways to go. I'd really like to see him face Ibushi at the Peter Pan show at Sumo Hall, the kid deserves a red hot crowd and a "classic" match already. Only part I really didn't like were the strikes exchanges, it didn't work at all and they felt out of place for the match they were doing imo. This was another step up in Konosuke's career arc, worth the watch but not a MOTYC.

WWE TV March 20 - 26
I mean, I get the fear of Braun getting lost in the shuffle considering the recent history of other monster heels (specially Rusev) but I still think he's fine. He needs one promo and a couple of weeks destroying everybody again to get right back were he was, he's that good. This was a fucking horrible show btw. Haven't watched a full RAW live in months, tuned in just for the curiosity of the Brooklyn crowd after the Paige/Xavier leaks and was shocked how uninteresting everything felt to me, specially 2 weeks before Mania. I tuned out after the brief New Day pre-taped segment and I wanted to see Braun vs Reigns II live, but everything was so unbearably boring that I couldn't take it anymore. They did nothing to regain me as a weekly TV viewer - not that it matter one bit though - it was kinda depressing as fan of wrestling tbh, back to reading results and checking shit out on dailymotion I guess (plus watching big PPVs) I guess.

Holy Grails
It's not a match but I can't believe that it's 2017 and Terry Funk's infamous SATCHEL ASS promo hasn't surfaced online. It was in the mid 2000's in WWE.com for fucks sakes

[2017-03-05-BJW] Daisuke Sekimoto vs Hideki Suzuki
If you are gonna do a long back and forth match, THIS is how I want it to be. There's no control section, there's a lot of moves (though not a huge amount) and there's spotty selling, BUT almost everything felt earned. The struggle for control in this match was fucking awesome and I loved it, each guy had to either battle like crazy or outsmart the other to hit a big move or pull off a submission, even the reversals felt like a legit struggle to gain the upper hand instead of choreographed bullshit (loved the little things they did, specially in the beginning, like Suzuki getting out of the test of strength, Sekimoto waiting for the right time to lock in the Boston Crab). Suzuki was very impressive in this, his focus on outsmarting Daisuke's with headlocks, sleepers and submissions was compelling as fuck to see. I also loved how he avoided getting german suplexed like it was the plague. The only criticism I have for him is that he can't emote for shit, so every time he no sold it looked like he was just shrugging shit off to get to the next sequence instead of showing fighting spirit or resilience. I was curious about this match because Daisuke tends to get worse the longer the match is, and considering it was for his title I thought this was going to be a lot of filler with a big ending sequence. But not at all, this was focused Sekimoto instead of "ram against your opponent 100 times as fast as possible" Sekimoto and it worked for the kind of match they were going for. The times he no sold or went full speed felt more like desperation attempts to regain control or to spot Suzuki's momentum than just crashing against his opponent to get a pop. It did surprise me how Korakuen never really came unglued. They were really into both of them, they popped for real simple stuff but didn't really buy the nearfalls, it was like they expected the result from the get go and were just enjoying the ride. I hope they are hyped for the rematch later this month and I really hope Sekimoto and Suzuki do something similar to this with a better final sequence to get a real winner.

2017 MOTY Yes/No Thread
Hell YES to Sekimoto vs Suzuki. I disagree about the crowd being dead. They were chanting for Suzuki from the get go and popped for real simple stuff like a reversal from a hammerlock. I was kind of surprised they didn't go apeshit, like Korakuen usually does, for the nearfalls at the end, it was like they knew it was gonna be a draw. Anyways, I thought that match was a great way of having a long back and forth battle. The struggle for control in this was fucking awesome and I loved it, each guy had to either battle like crazy or outsmart the other to hit a big move or pull off a submission, even the reversals felt like a legit struggle to gain the upper hand instead of choreographed bullshit. Loved the little things they did, specially in the beginning, like Suzuki getting out of the test of strength, Sekimoto waiting for the right time to lock in the Boston Crab and how they avoided getting hit by the opponents big moves. It's a long match and it's far from perfect so I'm sure a lot of people are not gonna like it. But that's not me, I completely bought into what they were doing and can't wait for the rematch and the end of this month.

WWE TV 3/13 - 3/19
I've always thought Triple H did that for Bryan in large part because of what happened with CM Punk. Like a subtle "fuck you, look what I'm going to do for the indy darling" after Punk refused to work with him at Mania and quit the company.

NXT talk
Saw him team with Shinsuke vs Roode and Patrick Clark tonight. Thought he looked good and at least is not wearing that tight shirt he wore in the Roode title match that airs this week. I don't want to spoil it but that match was disappointing. Every Roode match is going to be disappointing. For some reason NXT picking him up and having a meme song suddenly made people think he's this 5 star talent instead of a baseline average TV match worker. Maybe 4-5 years ago he could be great with the right opponent, but he's basically the Terry Taylor of his generation if TT got taken seriously in WWE/WCW. A very solid, dependable worker, but not someone you should be expecting great matches from. Shouldn't Hero be able to "carry" him to a great match though? I agree that Roode is solid and not much else in the ring but Hero was coming from the best run in his career - though I still didn't love all his work like most people, but still - that's why I'm asking how he's looked. Is the Roode match the only one he's had so far? I haven't seen NXT TV in a long ass time. Tried my best to avoid this answer to my question. Oh well
