AEW 3/1-3/3 - Open The Golden Gate
It's insane that a big (ish) matchup like HOB vs The Elite only got 10 days of real build up. They could've done something worth a damn if they started this in late January or early February.

AEW 3/1-3/3 - Open The Golden Gate
I hope MJF is taking some notes from this Christian promo.

AEW TV - 2/22 - 2/24 - America, fuck yeah
Yup, and after the PPV there's still no compelling challenger waiting for a shot, even though there 3 whole months to give people some momentum. I guess Hangman vs Mox is supposed to be that program but I don't see Page vs MJF being a big attraction at this point. They had something with Starks but he'll need a palate cleanser after the Jericho feud. I guess Revolution could end with another Tony Khan voice mail, this timed aimed at Punk before so he can return the same way MJF did or some shit

It is kinda crazy how both Hangman and MJF have had very similar title reigns in terms of impact/perception.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Ratings sky rocketed this week (back to 1 million and .35 in dah demo). Meltzer attributes it to no NBA, no reality TV comp and no NHL. Brother, it was not a serious question. Just trying to follow that hilarious comp Dav made

Lmao. So, uh, when does AEW take a stand to stop the enemy advance? When is it not "too late" for them?

San Francisco continues to be a nightmare town for wrestling And this is much better than the last time WWE ran RAW and SD, btw.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
AEW was running a plain bad product from August to December and it had nothing to do with Wrestlemania or even WWE. There's a reason why the run of shows from December to January felt so refreshing, it was because fans were asking for something like that for months. 2022 was a mess after the Punk presser, to the point AEW lost a lot of the good faith people had in them. So of course the build up to a PPV looking as dryas this one -when they had 3 fucking months to come up with stuff- is gonna make people question stuff. So the idea that Tony is "saving stuff" for after Wrestlemania is not that convincing when he was supposedly saving stuff for most of 2022 too (we were asking for a reset in June and got it in December).

If that's the strategy then don't book one of your four solo PPV of the year (Forbiden Door being the fifth) one month before Wrestlemania.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I didn't say the show was awful, I salud the card was awful. As in, I have zero interest in any of the matches, therefore I won't he watching (just like last week).

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Yeah that Dynamite card looking awful again, not watching this week either. And Danielson better cut an amazing promo to convince people besides myself and his stans that the Iron Man match Is worth a damn because MJF has failed for a month straight.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2023
Also, Draw winning never made any sense to me because he already had gotten a lengthy title reign and has been their top babyface before. Even though the atmosphere was crazy for Clash at the Castle, Drew didn't have a third of the momentum both Sami and Cody have right now.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2023
That's why I'm interested in how he's booked after Roman loses the belts. Does he back to plucky/funny guy on the midcard like Kofi or does HHH makes an actual effort to make him a legit top babyface you can make some money off. Regarding last night, I guess the question ends up being if it's more important to "make" Sami Zayn on the February PLE in front of his home crowd or "make" Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania. The argument of making either one of the lose so they can get over the hump later works both of them in this case, imo.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2023
I'm fascinated by the how Hunter will book Sami after WM. Does he go ever get put in a position to draw as one of their top babyfaces? Does he have another title at some point in 2023? Is he the one to eventually dethrone Gunther? (though I guess that's Brock if he actually wrestles him at WM). Would be pretty incredible storytelling if the Bloodline angle goes full circle and the end game is actually Jey vs Roman at Summerslam or something (no belts involved).

WWE Elimination Chamber 2023
He came here as El Generico and we basically never forgot about that. Every time WWE toured here and he was on the card he was treated as a top guy by the crowd and dude never forgot about us either. Not sure this is about the Chile comment but we do have a special relationship with Sami. IIRC he was in mid card limbo last time he wrestled here and he got by far the loudest reaction and chants during any match.

I'm not sure what needs to happen for Tony to finally get some help with booking. Feels like the only way is that he's forced to do it for some oustisde reason (which I have no clue what could it be considering he's already has 4 other jobs, if you count ROH).

WWE Elimination Chamber 2023
I really wanna see if the main event can surpass my incredibly high and unfair expectations. Feels like Punk vs Cena at MITB 2011 all over again, but with an incredibly long, well built angle instead of an out of the blue classic promo.

AEW TV - 15/2 - 17/2 - British date formatting in the thread title!!
It's kinda hard picturing Omega leaving his freedom to go to WWE when they are a sell away from reaching unknown territory (creative wise) again to a talent like him. I guess getting big money is always a factor but until negotiations for AEW's new TV deal are done, no star should be eager to sign a new contract with TK yet. If he does leave, it would be really dumb to not give him another singles push to at least put over who ever is the AEW champion on PPV.

I mean, I saw that card and said no way to watching the show, lol.

I completely agree on Tony's lack of ability to book feuds and give them a compelling story to follow. Once Max beats Dragon he's gonna have a whole arsenal to gloat and be an obnoxious heel, but there's absolutely nothing set up for him to do next after Revolution. To the point I'm not sure TK wont go back once again to the "you have to beat 5 people before facing me for this belt" trope against whoever comes out as n°1 contender after the PPV, which I guess it could be Hangman?

Yeah, I never thought Saraya was particularly good as a wrestler, ever. Her main assets were her charisma, which she has a lot of, and when she came up in WWE a very distinctive look that was perfect as an opposition to the Divas. Not sure what anyone was expecting from her in AEW as an in ring performer, that was never her strong suit. Tony wont do it because he really wants to make MJF happen, and that's commendable considering he is a fresh main eventer in wrestling. But I can't help but wonder if he missed on making him a tweener late last year and just ride that wave. So far his "reign of terror" (awful fucking name by the way, terrible for promoting/marketing) has sparked zero interest so to get some proof that he can work as THE guy he's gonna have to sink or swing for a long time with that belt and I'm not sure that's the right call right now. You give the belt to Dragon and you get the nuisance of fans complaining about his booking out of the way. Sure, business will probably stay exactly the same as if MJF had the belt but you'll probably gain more in the short term from Danielson having big title defenses that elevate the belt -plus you have a couple of big PPV title matches in a rematch vs Omega and even Punk- and he'll probably do an incredible job putting over whoever beats him for the belt (as he has done in the past in different promotions) to set up a new main eventer (hell, it might still be MJF by that point). I guess the question is: is it worth sticking with MJF right now and let him prove his worth in the long run or do you punt and let Danielson be a stop gap? Maybe I'm too much of a stan but I prefer the latter.
