AEW TV 1/18-1/20
I think it's a mix of him facing babyfaces that the fans want to see more from and fans knowing that these matches are a mere formality. They know Danielson is facing MJF at the PPV, there's no real stakes as no one believes Dragon is losing the title shot (even more so because there's no one else to challenge Max if Danielson fails on this quest). So they root for the underdog babyface because they kinda know Dragon is already set for the PPV.

I'm actually interested if he can make the David vs Goliath formula work with Cage. If he actually gets the crowd to respond, boo Cage and get hot for Dragon's eventual comeback and win, it would be pretty damn impressive. I thought he was going to ask for Lance Archer for this spot though.

I also plead ignorance on the matter, this is what Thurston had to say about it.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Dave's reporting on Japanese wrestling has been iffy for as long as I've been paying attention (15 years or so). But I didn't know there was a whole thing with Dragon Gate and now Bix wrote this: Prominent Wrestling Journalist Dave Meltzer Accused Of Publishing Stories Based On False Information

AEW TV (1/11-1/13)
This time it wasn't even that. It was like a Bray Wyatt version cheap heat. Maybe the point was to annoy people that just wanted to watch Danielson vs Takeshita? lol. I'm normally OK with his shtick but this wasn't it.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
We gotta wonder how much of that decision was based on LIV having zero value as a brand and relying completely on top golfers that don't really move the needle much in terms of ratings. If the Saudi PIF would've bought the PGA Tour, I don't think networks close their doors to them like they did LIV. Hell, if they would've gotten Tiger and Rory they would've most likely given them a deal too. In this case, the Saudis would be buying wrestling's biggest brand, one that draws by itself, so I'm not sure they'd turn their backs like with LIV.

Takeshita always worked a very "go-go-go" style in DDT. It was normally frustrating to watch him dismiss the little things some of his opponents wanted to work into a match in order to get into a big trading spots sequence or go full steam ahead. I've liked his US work much more than his DDT work in the past 4 years or more. Dude has to tools to do anything he wants in a wrestling ring, I'm more than happy to see him wrestle different opponents and see what he ends up becoming in two or three years.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
All I read from SRS was him saying "the rumor is Saudi....there's no confirmation on anything on this matter". Basically was the first to tackle the rumor and say there was no one saying it was a done deal.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
There's a very clear difference between "there's talks between sides" to "the deal is done". A very important journalistic difference mind you. I think the only one that was actually doing what they were supposed to do was SRS. So yeah, the shitshow yesterday should be mocked and critized as most of the time wrestling "journalism" fucks up.

And if he really pulled this shit off, he probably stays in charge and has to answer to nobody with the company going private. Unless the allegations against him (and/or more show up) go to trial and he ends up like Weinstein. This whole rumor is so fucking crazy I refuse to believe it until it's truly official, lol.- Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I mean, it ends the women's division most likely. It ends Sami Zayn's WWE career. It ends whatever level of transparency from the company was available by being public. And it gives Saudi the wrestling library of what, 90% of US wrestling?- Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Vince somehow being savvy enough to negotiate everything he wanted in total privacy while he was gone, somehow avoid any leaks to reputable/major media outlets when talks are with Saudi Arabia of all places, and then doing a hostile takeover so he could sign the deal he wanted is something I don't have any ways to describe.- Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I mean, Saudi being interested is not big news I think. Some rumors about shit being a done deal (and making WWE private again) make no sense, how the hell could that thing be done in just a couple of days? lol. All the cryptic tweets being about Triple H would make more sense. Maybe Vince wants to put Johnny Ace in charge of talent again...- Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
The main protagonist.- Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
And right after Steph resigns... So two weeks ago the board voted unanimously against Vince coming back. So Cokeboy gets rid of three people, replaces them, other three resign and now he gets the vote he wanted without anyone being against it. Y'all weren't kidding when y'all talked about the power he truly had as a shareholder. Good lawd.- Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Nick Khan leaving would be a much bigger shock. He was brought in to sale the company and now that Vince is finally making it public he wants to sell, Khan leaves? That would be mindboggling. Not saying it wont happen because 2023 will be a wild ass ride for WWE but it would be really unexpected.- Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Steph's letter: "This is sooo great I can leave again!, and this time for good" So Kevin Dunn and Bruce Pritchard replacing Triple H by May-June? - Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
