AEW TV - 8/24 - 8/26 - Shenanigans Afoot
After FTR lose all those belts, we need a Dax TNT title year long run.

García having to sell all those emotions over being called a "wrestler" or a "sport entertainment" was quite something, not an easy spot to be on. And fucking hell, that dumbass Hager better nor have concuss Dragon with that sneak attack. Both the clothesline and the slam looked fucking awful for Danielson's head.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Seeing ratings are up and attendance to TV and live events is the best it's been in years, it really looks like the company is primed for a sale, lol.

For 60 bucks? I don't see it man. I'll love to get it for 10-20 bucks but that's it. And I'm someone who has no issue spending full price for next gen games.

How much does AEW want or need it's video game to be a commercial success? I've seen the latest gameplay preview and while it certainly looks like a fun game (a cool 2022 version of "WWF No Mercy"), it does not look like it's worth the US$60 that they will charge for it and I have a hard time picturing a lot of people paying full price for it.

Yup. Even before this scandal, Danielson had been saying in interviews he loves Vince and that people "don't understand" what he did for him. So him not backing out of those words isn't very surprising.

No doubt, but I'm wondering what other stories are there because that Cabana one really read like "let's throw some bullshit and see if Dave runs with it".

Read an excerpt from WON that things are actually pretty bad in the locker room. But the one I read focused on Cabana, which made me immediately doubt the veracity of the report, lol. It's one thing for Punk to be mad about Colt still having a job but that trickling down to the whole roster I have a really hard time buying. Were there other things covered in the issue?

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
Interesting that the audience wanted to see Omega back but not the match he was involved in. I guess it's gonna take a while to make trios matches matter but still. The second Mox/Punk segment was impromptu but was that back from a commercial break or did it all bleed out from the 3rd fall of García/Danielson? can't remember. García working a control segment didn't light the world on fire, I see

Current New Japan
I don't know if plans changed but before the pandemic it seemed very clear Shota Umino was next in line as the "next Ace" or at the very least the next big young champion. Kid has the tools to do well in that role too.

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
Da hell? most people in here don't think it's a work as of right now. I guess it can be made one eventually for the sake of business but right now, Occam's razor points to Punk being Punk and some people caping for him.

That's the answer to your question. We are at the "at first" stage of this whole thing.

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
Regardless of the details, it was Punk making a (former?) top babyface of the company look like a fool without building to anything that was planned beforehand. It's the kind of shit that if HHH did it 10-15 years ago people would be losing their minds.

From Fightful LMAO at 2 months of rest making Punk go back to his usual self. That man can't stay happy no matter what

I also think it's on Tony to put Page in a better position after losing the belt. The dude had legit momentum after winning the Danielson feud and then it fizzled out FAST. And now he's in booking limbo.

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
I don't think that's a match you only give 1 week of TV to hype up (only 2 Dynamite's left before All Out). It's also hard picturing Punk not fighting for the belt in Chicago. And you also have to find an opponent for Mox because there's no way your biggest PPV doesn't have your main title on the line, and that would mean two top of the card matches with little to no build (Punk/MJF has history sure, but you know what I mean). I guess booking a three way for the belt could be in play but that still sounds like last minute booking when you can just use next week's title match as set up for the real unification at the PPV.

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
BTW, the formula of using Punk and Danielson for the first hour/45 minutes of Dynamite continues to be flawless. Every time TK uses it, it's a very good episode of TV.

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
So what are we thinking they do with Punk vs Mox next week? A DQ? A no contest (maybe even a non-start)? a draw or double pin? I don't buy this being a one and done, even if Punk teased the rematch with Hangman, that's just not as big of a match for just 1 week of TV building for the PPV. So they gotta run Punk/Mox II ASAP and use their first match as a set up for All Out, probably gonna justify a big bloody gimmick match too.

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
Bah gawd the fuckery we gonna get from Mox vs Punk next week.

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
I mean, he was the one that cost Danielson the previous match and "tainted" García's win. To be fair, it seems only Danielson (and Nigel back in the day) are the only ones willing to really lay out those elbows. Tonight García did everything great but those elbows and stomps looked soft as shit.

Jericho/Hager vs Dragon/García at All Out?
-
AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
I'ma need @Matt D to provide the FITE feed without commercials to rewatch this match. García was about to work his control section and show he can get the crowd riled the fuck up and we can't even see it in picture-in-picture.

That Dragon sleeper was perfect.

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
Oh shit, so they ARE finishing with Omega, great call TK! Now this match can go long as fuck

AEW TV 8/17 - 8/23 House of the Dragon
The pull apart made that segment worth it but the promo exchange felt weird as shit.
