Bummed about this, really wanted to see him & Dante for the next 5-8 months, they were the most exciting part about the shows to me after Danielson.

AEW Dynamite - January 19, 2022
Everything seems to point to the show reaching it's (new) peak once Omega comes back and The Elite schism angle starts. By that point Page will probably be feuding with the winner of the Punk/MJF feud, Danielson should be back doing a new storyline and Darby/Sting could be tag champs or going for those belts. I hope The Elite stuff translates to a compelling angle but even if it ends up being something I don't like, I'm certain the younger audience & core AEW fanbase will eat it up.

Ahh, that makes sense. Tbanks!

Yeah, but Lio got kinda pushed aside before that. The whole "Dante swerves Team Taz" basically ended the relationship with Lio (unless it was something developed in Dark?) and we didn't see him again. I think he tweeted something encouraging Dante after he turned on Taz but that was it.

I asked this in the Dynamite thread but....what's the status on Lio Rush? Is he gone or something? I was eager to watch him with Dante as tag team and eventual rivals and shit didn't even last a month.

The good ol' "it's not supposed to be good, pal!" quote from Vince to Jericho (I think when he had to face Fandango at WM?)

Yeah if they were gonna do this theme show they should've come to South America for a little tour

I was gonna ask if Frankie Kazarian was the most sympathetic figure they could find in their roster for Archer to demolish but then I realized the segment was made for Page to look like a legit babyface Ace so I won't complain. Is Lio Rush done with the company? I loved his team with Dante but he's been pushed aside since Dante did that weird swerve with team Taz, and now they putting Sydal back with him. I know about the exchange between Lio and TK after the Swole stuff but I feel he was already thrown aside even before that.

So according to Fightful, Cody's is working without a contract as his initial deal expired. I can see him doing this for a storyline on his reality show and/or a Rumble appearance to try to get a big deal with either company. But at the end of the day I think he stays in AEW. I'm not a fan of Cody but this is still relevant news.

WWE TV 01/10 - 01/16 Is this year's Rumble going to break some walls down?
I don't know man, hearing Vince in your ears weekly doesn't sound like that much of an improvement that taking some bumps. Mental health could be more affected than his body.

Daniel Bryan
Miz grew into a solid wrestler who works very well as a heel but that was not the case in 2010-2011. It was his matches with Bryan and Lawler that started to turn the perception around him.

Daniel Bryan
This AEW run has also started a weird narrative were it seems Bryan's time in WWE was wasted (the most negative take) or that it was good but not close to his best version (the most positive take). To me, his n°1 candidacy relies on those 9 years in WWE as an active wrestler. That tenure showed he could work as a pure babyface, could work and get incredibly over as a comedy act (while having decent at worst, fun at best matches with Kane as a tag team partner) get the best performance possible from a number of average to slightly above average wrestlers in setting with limitations to the style that could be worked - at least until his first retirement, after that he basically did whatever he wanted in the E'- and work very different styles and roles. Always getting over when given the slightest of time and opportunity and always making the product and opponent better. He's one of the few that could have a legit conversation against Rey being the GOAT TV worker, he'd lose in that argument, imo, but he has a case. We knew Danielson could have big, epic matches before WWE. We know now he can still have big, epic matches 20 years into his career and can have them at a ridiculous rate, as this current AEW run has shown. But his WWE stint showed a ton of stuff we had no clue he could do or that we thought he just wasn't good at when he was in the indies. AND he still managed to have big, epic matches with a variety of opponents that were quite different to what he faced in the indies and AEW. I don't think Dragon is a n°1 lock, at all. But as someone that has seen almost everything of him on tape, I fail to see why he wouldn't be in the conversation for the top spot. I often read people here or on the Discord wanting to see those that argue for Danielson as n°1 to challenge his case more. I think that should happen, he has holes just as every single candidate on this project. But I also think people that are not convinced with his n°1 case should take the time to expound on that too. The only one that I've seen do that is Matt D, and he does a great job at it. Elliot rightfully challenged the "best in the world every year since he debuted" take which was a hot/wild take to begin with. Maybe the versus section should have more activity so people can explain what other top candidates do better than him, at least there was some interesting stuff in the vs Kobashi thread, were there's an argument made that Danielson's output isn't as impressive when compared to other top candidates. Not sure what you mean by this? He worked every single week since the Omega match up until the end of the year were he took 1 off before the rematch with Hangman. Now this is the stuff this thread needs, as those two opponents (in the average/slight above average category) are big to Danielson's case. Do you think Miz and Wyatt had something resembling a real great match against other opponents? or they never reached that level against anyone to you? If they did, I'd be interested in reading what those matches had that the Bryan ones didn't.

I mean, they asked for Hook, so they sent Hook.

I think an important number of fans would sing along that shitty song anyways though.

I'm not blaming Twitter, I'm saying people should stay away from it if they can't help themselves when faced with haters and trolls, which will always be there waiting for you to respond to them in the exact manner Kenny did.

All Elite Wrestling
Kenny fighting with random fans/haters/trolls on Twitter and accusing them of being pedophiles (as an insult, I guess?) is just another example of people needing to stay the fuck away from the platform.

AEW Dynamite 1st TBS episode - January 5, 2022
I understand the scenario, I'm just not sure Page will keep that belt THAT long. In this scenario, MJF ain't challenging before All Out (he has to rack up wins the whole spring-summer). I might be completely wrong here, but I see the big booking effort in putting Page so strong so fast is to get the belt off quicker than past champions.

AEW Dynamite 1st TBS episode - January 5, 2022
Where does the Wardlow turn and subsequent angle fit in MJF's title win? Everything is set up for Wardlow to turn on him and Spears very soon -MJF might try to DQ Punk by hitting Wardlow, leading to him snapping once and for all- could Wardlow be his first title defense in a scenario were MJF beats Punk and goes on to challenge Page and takes the title from him? If Punk wins at Revolution is becomes the n°1 contender, then MJF's shot would probably come much later in the year. And I'm not sure they'll keep Hangman with the belt for that long.

Never thought I'd change my avatar here but after watching some backstage pictures of yesterday's show https://projects.theplayerstribune.com/aew-dynamite-behind-the-scenes/p/1 I had to do it.

Hopefully he gets to have the stable he said he wanted to have. One would guess he's not gonna lose for a while so it is interesting to think who might be next.
