AEW Rampage (and The Buy In) - October 15 2021
That match reminded me of the Barnett vs Suzuki match at one of the Bloodsport's shows. Just a different type of match, some will love and some will be meh about it. I fucking loved it.

So, Tony Khan confirmed it will be Omega vs Page at Full Gear. Also, it seems the whole card was "leaked" after someone took a picture of Tony Khan at the Jaguars game

AEW Rampage (and The Buy In) - October 15 2021
My exacts thoughts. I was picturing Dragon getting anxious with all these U.S wrestlers getting singles matches with MiSu except him. I remember him saying one of his favorite matches ever was facing Suzuki on a New Japan show (that sadly wasn't taped) so if they give them 12-15 minutes I expect something pretty special.

Interesting that AEW is already doing a World Title eliminator tournament. I guess the finals will be at Full Gear to set up Page's first defense?

[2021-10-05-BJW] Astronauts (Nomura & Abe) vs Strong BJ (Sekimoto & Okabayashi)
This goes 13 minutes and I need a third match, dammit! This was the Abe/Okabayashi show, which is weird because it's supposed to build up to Nomura and Sekimoto for the title, lol. Really, really liked their early restraint by not throwing a single strike in the first seven minutes and building up to them, with both Young Gawd and Abe trying to keep the two hosses on the mat but getting to cocky and provoking Yuji too much. As explained, the Abe/Okabayashi interactions were the highlights, with Fuminori just being an incredible cocky asshole against the much bigger man. Sekimoto and Nomura had good strike exchanges but they were barely in it against each other until the finish, which was quite sudden. They left A LOT on the table and considering the match from September is even shorter (haven't been able to watch it yet), I wonder why they were so conservative. I did like Nomura being much more confident and realizing he's the fucking champ and fuck these old dudes.

AEW Dynamite - October 6, 2021
I'm with @El-P here. There's no reason why, if well booked, you can't have a the most over guy in the company be the champ while at the same time have a program with Omega/Danielson fighting for "who's the best". You can also have Hangmayne mock them (specially if Omega wins the rematch) by saying he's the best in the world because he's the champ, which can lead to a title defense down the line too. There's tons of things you can work around having those two programs running along. I understand having some PTSD because of WWE's horrible booking but "paper champion" is not the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to Page beating Kenny before the rematch with Danielson. I don't know. I attribute that heat entirely on Lambert being an incredible heel that's so easy to despise. It's like OG Vickie Guerrero but with more material than just "excuse me!".

AEW Dynamite - October 6, 2021
That's not necessarily a bad thing. Your future champ getting the most attention and the crowd wanting him to get the title shot over anything else is what you should want. I think you guys are reading too much into it. There's a ton of time until Full Gear so that feud can get momentum again. And at the end of the day, him getting the win will be big anyway, what's important is what they do with him as champ. I do wonder what's next for Danielson. Is him vs Cole next?

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Yeah, the constant undercutting was what fucked Roman's chances of ever being a "babyface Ace". It's true that Cena is unique in working around the backlash to a push, specially in the context of WWE doing the worst job possible at booking a babyface champ, but even he wasn't undercut as Roman was. John got the current heel Reigns push as soon as he got his first WWE title. Roman had to wait 6 years to get it . It's pretty crazy. Vince really fucked up in always wanting to punt Roman's moment to coincide with Wrestlemania, so any time he could've gained momentum, he was brought back, jobbed and cooled off until Mania season, at which point fans knew what was up and would reject the idea. What's interesting is that I associate being done with WWE to Rollins and Owens big main event runs and not the "dread" of Roman waiting in the corner during those times (to get his coronation at Mania).

[2021-08-15-BJW] Astronauts (Nomura & Abe) vs Okami (Hashimoto & Kamitani)
This has a slow start, the action is good but the pace is too slow and there's no sense of urgency from anyone, which was surprising considering the talent involved. Thankfully by the 5 minute mark shit gets more interesting with Daichi working a good control section over Nomura and setting the tone for the match. From that point forward is basically 20 minutes of very good tag team action and all four showing out, as they usually do when they face each other. Some great nearfalls and saves, fucking LOVED everything Okami had to do to keep Abe at bay and just focusing on Nomura. This started "meh" and slowly but surely ended up being pretty great.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I remember that was the biggest criticism of her Authority run. She would show up, shit on X wrestler and it would never translate to anything meaningful, just her looking superior with no redeeming angle to justify it. The Rousey tag match, which was awesome, but it was in 2018, five years after The Authority gimmick began and almost 2 full years after it stopped being a thing and stopped showing up on TV altogether. People loved Shane because he's kind of the "outsider" McMahon so they just assume he can't be worst than the rest because he was out for so long and even before leaving, he wasn't all in the video taking up screen time and never getting his ass beat. This comeback run quickly made people realize he's just as bad as the people grew tired off

AEW Rampage - October 1, 2021
Nah, he's gotta work from underneath when facing a bigger, dominant opponent, he's one of the greatest ever at "David vs Goliath" type of matches. He worked kinda similarly during his last WWE Title run, just mauling people and doing shit like it's 2006-07 (he even did the "I've got till 5" shtick, which truly surprised considering it was the E). He's just able to go a little bit further in AEW and that's awesome because it's the side of him that made him get just a big following in the first place.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Plus he came back after The Authority stuff had ruined the product for more than 2 years so it was a combination of people being sick of Steph/Hunter, Shane always been perceived as the "good McMahon" AND fans believed he was truly back to takeover the company (which was supposed to be a good thing).

Dragon doing the Ohtani spot because Nick's kicks are weak was something. Very good match, nice to see the elbows+Cattle Mutilation combo back Also like how Kenny can't help but go Marty McFly when he's called Kenny No Balls, also good to see him try to save his buddy.

Not sure about that. The match everyone wanted to see gave them 1.5 million at some point (after the break when word of mouth began to spread). I agree that 1 segment a show to try to grab "outsider/more casual" audience can be very useful if done right, but I'm no sure they've reached the limit of what they core audience will give them with just the best wrestling they can imagine.
