Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
From the Assassin book : "When Tom and I got a good distance away from the arenas, and we were sure that nobody was following us, we would take our masks off. Some of the guys, like Mr. Wrestling II and the Destroyer, wore them everywhere they went. Tom and I lived our gimmick, but there was a point where we had to say "Hey, enough is enough!" I don't know Wrestling II kept from getting shot. He would walk into convenience stores to make a purchase. If the guy behind the counter wasn't a wrestling fan, he might have shot him, thinking he was coming into the store to rob him. I made it a practice to never talk to the fans or answer their questions. Tom told me that I had a very distinctive voice, and they would be able to recognize that voice if they ever ran into me on the street. Later on, I learned that I had a very distinctive walk, too. That was when I became conscious of how I walked when I was in front of people. In the future, whenever we went into a new territory, Tom and I would tell the promoter that we would not unmask at the end of our run. In most cases, when a masked man planned to leave the territory and go somewhere else, he would take his mask off in all of the towns. On his last week in, he would be featured in matches where, if he lost, he would voluntarily unmask. Tom and I flatly refused to do that, and we told promoters that up front."

Mount Olympus, Summer 2017 (Sammartino: The Legend Lives)
It was nice to hear from you all together talking about Bruno. It feels like a Titans show. Does the collections disappear from the Network after a certain amount of time ?

Billy Goelz and other 50s finds
That Al Costello vs Jesse James match was pretty good. Same opinion as you on the Kangaroos as a team (I have to rewatch as it's been a while I saw those matches). On that card, the semi-main was Dick Hutton vs Roy Hefferman. I hope it was taped because a Hutton bout is the Holy Grail.

Exile on Badstreet #38 (Shipping Up To Boston - WWWF at Boston Garden from 1976-79) (Featuring John McAdam)
This was a great podcast. Everybody should check Rocky Raymond's channel on Youtube, he has some 8mm from the Boston Garden. Highlights are Bruno vs Pat Patterson from 1979. https://youtu.be/YOTF0gIF1ug?t=35m15s

Dory Funk vs Billy Robinson This is Robinson's first match in Houston. We know from the start they will go to the time limit draw but the match has a good pace. This match highlighted Robinson's skills and tricks and Dory can follow him. I love the slaps from Robinson to get Dory fired up. Good match.

Schiavone and Cornette's blind spots as fans
The Fink was in charge of watching the tapes of WCW back in the 90´s. However Schiavone did watch Savage vs Steamboat from WM III as it's one of his favorites marches.

RIP Ron Bass
He had a good match against Buddy Rose in the 70's. I believe it was 1977. Like him on the Florida footage I saw. Also I love that angle with him, Black Bart and JJ Dillon in Ricky Steamboat's gym.

RIP George Steele
Fuck, I start reading his book yesterday. He was a fun character. RIP.

Did Terry Funk ever look as good on the mat as he is here working Race's arm ? Great match. I hope we will have the return match.

[Late 1930s-Los Angeles] Dr. John Dropkick Murphy & Nick Lutze vs. LaVerne Baxter & Hardboiled Haggerty
Pat McClary (Hard Boiled Haggerty) was born in 1908. Nick Lutz retired in 1940 so the date is good.
