[1998-05-25-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin and Vince McMahon
Bah Humbug, Chad! This was fucking glorious! Maybe my favorite segment of this run! I am loving the week-to-week continuity and progression. I am so used to each RAW being a vacuum and disconnected that was I like how will they follow up last week, when it felt like a go home show. Well they of course do the logical thing when a "fan" jumps the rail and assaults a wrestler they have him arrested! Beautiful! Loved all of this.

[1998-05-18-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin vs Pat Patterson & Gerald Brisco
Tons of fun! Patterson is only five years older than Funk! I feel like we robbed of many years of great Patterson but probably for the best for his body. Patterson was great bumping all over the place. Stunners for everyone, but when it is time to get heat Dude Love puts Stone Cold with the claw. Strongest Foley has looked and puts over that numbers may have finally got to Austin. This felt like a go home show. I'm interested to see what they have next week

[1998-05-18-WWF-Raw] Dude Love vs Dustin Rhodes
Dude Love vs Dustin Rhodes -WWF RAW 5/18/98 Funny exchange: JR mocks Vince forcing him to call Patterson a hall of gamer as a shoot. Lawyer quickly retorts it is always 53 year old Funk, which was hilariously Awesome short match. Apparently Dustin legit had a knee injury but you wouldn't know it. Easily the best Babyface worker on the roster. Great fire early aggressive and choking Foley. Foley going after the injured knee was great. Nice Dustin comeback climaxed with bulldog. Foley wins with Claw. Too short to be much God wish Dustin got more chances in 98. Great layout.

[1998-05-18-WWF-Raw] Interview: Vince McMahon & Dude Love
Great stuff from McMahon claiming he gave Austin a concussion and thus he wouldn't be allowed in the arena is a double whammy of heel awesomeness! Corporate Dude Love is fun. I'm loving the mini feud between Dude and Dustin. Such smart booking that uses continuity! This should be the bare minimum, but almost never get it. I ducking love it!

[1998-05-18-WWF-Raw] Val Venis vs 2 Cold Scorpio
Val Venis vs 2 Cold Scorpio - WWF RAW 5/18/98 I wanted to write this up because I thought this was a horrible debut. Watching some bad wrestling (I do watch RAW every week but that's mediocre not bad). I guess there was mediocre but for a debut it just felt really bad. Scorpio is a horrible jobber. He looked like a way bigger star than Venis. He had some great moves and great charisma, but didn't use it to make Venis look good. Venis looked pretty green here. I have no clue if he was a heel or Babyface. You don't know his style. The hip swivel was great and was literally his best spot. It just felt like a bunch of basic spots. Nothing to grab your attention or hol you in. I love fundamentals but was not connecting them. Seemed very generic. Gives you no reason to care about the character going forward.

[1998-05-11-WWF-Raw] Sable vs Marc Mero
That Sable workout video last week was awesome and this was a great segment. Mero is a pretty good heel and I like his look as a scummy heel. SABLEBOMB~! Clearly Mero helped, but I was impressed. RAW is on fire!

[1998-05-11-WWF-Raw] Interview: Vince McMahon & Dude Love
Foley was excellent in this. Speaker of four languages, lover of women and a surprisingly good dancer for a big man! VinnyMac introduces Brisco as the timekeeper and Patterson as the Announcer. They build and build to the ref and then they even tease Bret Hart as the special ref until Vince is announced after he went back to find the ref. Awesome segment.

[1998-05-04-WWF-Raw] Terry Funk vs Mick Foley (Falls Count Anywhere)
Mick Foley vs Terry Funk - WWF RAW 5/04/98 Stone Cold apologizing for his language because it is usually a lot worse was hilarious. Austin was great on commentary dropping Jerry Lawler like a bad habit and cussing like a madman. I had fonder memories of this match. I did not really care for it. The crux of the match was Foley proving himself to McMahon and that he had finally snapped and was willing to beat the holy hell out of his best friend. It felt like an extended squash with plenty of arena brawler. There were some memorable spots. Like Funk bashing Foley's head so hard unprotected that he was bleeding from top of the head. Then not much happened. Arena brawling ensued. Suplexing the hot dog guy was more cute than anything else. Funk got his one big spot the moonsault (sidesault) from the loge to Foley. Funk's selling of a stinger was great, Foley piledrove through table and then beat the living shit out of Funk. After multiple piledrivers in the ring including one on a chair wins him the match. It was great for its purpose of putting Foley over, but there was not much here to make this the great match I remember. Post-match McMahon comes out with Dudettes and the dancing that ensues is fucking amazing! Great segment, good match. ***1/2

[1998-05-04-WWF-Raw] Jerry Lawler and Paul Bearer
Seen this before. Funny segment. Sounds like the conversations me and my buddies have had. Well none of us have spawned the Devil's Favorite Demon. The set up with the set down camera and then Lawlwr apology was perfect. Taker running down and assaulting Beart during Kane/Goldust was great.

[1998-05-04-WWF-Raw] Mick Foley, Vince McMahon and Steve Austin
Maybe the best segment so far. Vince has really grown confident in the role. Before he was that annoying face punch able boss, now he is the maniacal, Machiavellian mastermind. He is a stronger, angrier character. He manipulates Foley into fighting Funk so that he can truly unleash the hate necessary to defeat Austin. I love how the whole segment is structured around bring number one contender. Fancy that it is about winning not about being entertaining and guess what it is entertaining! Austin raises some serious hell destroying the Love Shack! Great stuff

[1998-09-27-WWF-Breakdown] Vader vs Bradshaw
Vader vs Bradshaw - WWF Breakdown I am a total mark for super heavyweight slobber knocker. It is my favorite style. This was a great hoss slug fest. Bradshaw was throwing some stuff shots especially clothes lines. Bradshaw is a big boy. Throwing Vader around impressive. Bradshaw had a good big boot. Vader throwing stairs was wicked. Not to be outdone Vader murders Bradshaw with a clothesline on the outside. Vader splash and Vader Bomb Kick Out! Bullshit! This crowd sucks no heat. I guess neither character is over. HOLY SHIT! Bradshaw tries to take Vaders head off with three Clotheslines From Hell! It is a neck breaker that finishes Vader should have been Clotheslines. Super fun! Bradshaw was great standing toe to toe with Vader. He should have been pushed earlier. ***1/4

[1998-04-27-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin vs Goldust
Great foreshadowing of the Over The Edge match with Brisco as the SGR. Good action. These two had good chemistry since 1991 Austin has a mean clothesline. Brisco has something in his eye after the Stunner was great. Dude Love of course gets involved. Mr. Mac Man blasts Brisco with the belt and Austin laughs at him. Great ending. Wish VinnyMac sold the chairs hot from nice previous but good shit.

[1998-07-26-WWF-Fully Loaded] Owen Hart vs Ken Shamrock (Dungeon Match)
Owen Hart vs Ken Shamrock - WWF Fully Loaded 1998 Dungeon Match Owen is in Zubaz shorts, automatic ***** from me! Incredible shoot-style match. I thought they did a great job incorporating pro wrestling moves in a realistic way. I loved all the throws, strikes and slams into a wall. Stiff as hell. That straight front kick by Shammy that sent Owen into the wall was sickkkkkk! Owen cheating like a muthafucka was great loved the low-blow and the use of the lead pipe. Throwing Shamrock head first into the pipe and then through the ceiling was bitchin. Shamrock had some great shit too and Owen did a great job selling his stuff. Loved the ref bump and dumbbell finish to put Owen over. It plays into Owen's self-congratulating character and protects Shamrock for the big Summerslam match. Off the top of my head, best 5 minute match I have ever seen. Legitimately great. ****

[1998-04-27-WWF-Raw] DX Invades Nitro
I remember this happening but I was staunchly WCW fan at this point. Doesn't age well and I like Kliq humor. I can't believe Robert Fuller and the NWA were a part of 98 WWF so weird.

[1998-04-27-WWF-Raw] Vince McMahon promo
McMahon should have been in a neck brace but still a fucking awesome dick heel promo. I love that chose Goldust basically really reinforcing anyone even GOLDUST is better suited to be champion than Austin

[1998-04-26-WWF-Unforgiven] Steve Austin vs Dude Love
WWF World Heavyweight Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Dude Love - WWF Unforgiven 1998 It is easy to see why this match is overshadowed by the rematch, but this is a entertaining match in its own right. I loved Austin's energy in this. His shine was great just because how aggressive he was. It was a full court press. Foley did his fair share by taking some wicked bumps like getting clobbered from behind up the ramp and being thrown off the stage to the concrete. OWWWWW! Have Mercy! Austin misses the straddle in the ropes. Austin is not great at selling. Foley phoned in his offense on the heat segment. It does not matter because Austin is super over. Joe Stetcher reference by JR in the body scissors spot. Once Vince comes out the heat picks up. I like Vince berating Austin on the floor repeatedly to be a man and get back in the ring after Foley beat him down. The abdominal stretch spot was great with Vince wanting the bell rung and then when Austin reverses he changes his tune in a hurry. I thought run up to the big angle at the finish was bit haphazard. Foley takes his signature leg bump on the steps, which gets a huge pop, but really means little in the grand scheme of the match. Again, Austin's energy is carrying this match and Foley's bumps are second. They just don't have much in the way of glue or Foley's offense or Austin selling. Foley clobbers the ref. I always dig a good ref bump. STUN-NO-MANIDBLE CLAW! Why doesn't Vince call for the bell? I thought this was a bit anticlimactic. Foley clearly has Austin down in the claw. Weird to have the heel get what was basically a visual fall. The big angle was perfectly executed as a chair gets involved. People get shoved in their faces until Austin cracks Vince in the back of the head with no protection! HUGE POP! HUGE SELL JOB! STUNNER! Counts his own three! Tons of personnel out. They treat the McMahon chairshot as a grave situation. Great wrestling angle. Cant wait for RAW tomorrow night to find out how they follow this up. Austin's energy, Foley's bumps and McMahon character keep this entertaining. Foley needed more violent offense and there was not much glue to the story. Still entertaining. ***1/4

[1998-04-20-WWF-Raw] Dude Love vs Steve Blackman
Match sucked, but the finish was awesome. Montreal Screwjob finish with Dude going over in an ab stretch. Plays on the fears Austin will be screwed on Sunday. Austin blasts Dude and lives up to his promise by throwing Vince around. They get enough Dude and then Stunnering of the Stooges that Vince only has to take one bump. Austin keeps his word and Vince looks strong. Great shit.

[1998-04-20-WWF-Raw] Dude Love promo
I liked the light-heartedness of the Dude's promo. You know he can snap at any time. I really enjoyed his explanation about the chicks. I thought he was going to say jealousy or money like everyone. It was nice to go a different route with the hot chicks. Usually, I dig the slow burn, but I think Dude joining Vince would have helped his heta.

[1998-04-13-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin vs Vince McMahon
Loved Chimel's grandiose introduction of McMahon. The proto-Vince Power Walk!!!! Chad I agree this I very Mempho. Shane coming out to talk his Dad out of it. Vince is still in dress shoes! Jim Ross I just bought a house and he is worried about his mortgage goddamnit! LOL! The one arm tied behind his back gimmick was great. I figured Dude Love would interfere and definitely the right move. I guess Foley and VinnyMac were not in cahoots yet, but I think they should have gone full on there. The Philly crowd was inclined to cheer Foley so I felt the reaction was a bit muted if he had just joined Vince right then and there. Foley going after McMahon first and then attacking Austin was a bit too much shades of grey in my opinion. Still Im excited for Foley/Austin. Loved the Over The Edge match and looking forward to the build.

[1998-04-13-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin and Vince McMahon
Awesome opening show promo! Austin wants to know his challenger and then realizes who Vince really wants is himself! Stone Cold challenges Vince! You got nowhere to go. I beat up your limo driver and your limo has four flat tires. Patterson & Brisco pumping Vince up to take on Austin's challenge because he has made a fool of you is great. I liked the play off the hard way and easy way from the episode two weeks ago. Vince's promo accepting Austin's challenge is one of the best of all time. Perfect tone and delivery. Vince preaching tradition, honor and integrity. Oh Hell Yeah! Brisco & Patterson applauding it while JR leaves the booth to ensure it does not happen. Great build. Austin is happy to oblige McMahon and whoop his ass. Brisco & Patterson teaching McMahon how to counter the kick to the gut may be the greatest thing ever! McMahon is in pretty good shape coming to the ring. I am pretty pumped for this "match".
