[1991-02-16-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Tommy Rich & Big Josh
You can tell when Jim Ross clearly hated something back then. Instead of the rather bluntness or euphemisms with bowling shoes he'd be known for in later days, here he totally would really give off such a condescending phoniness. It didnt help anything. We know it sucks. You know it sucks. At least try, dude. Solie would try. Russell would try.

[1991-02-23-USWA-Memphis TV] Eddie Gilbert and Eric Embry
Pretty sure they were changing bookers at around this point. Embry got the book and systematically tried to kill off all the local heroes. All the babyfaces that were around at this time still detest Eric.

[1991-02-24-WCW-Wrestle War '91] Ric Flair & Barry Windham & Larry Zbyszko & Sid Vicious vs Sting & Brian Pillman & Rick & Scott Steiner (War Games)
Sid nearly killing Pillman and then GOING FOR ANOTHER ONE shows that our buddy Sid is a true idiot. I'd never seen this one before tonight and it was very good. Not 1992 or 1987 good but its probably number three on the list. I think Arn had a herniated disc, but not sure. Rick Steiner trying to do a figure four was rather comical. Pillman? Jeez, what else can be said. Just tremendous.

[1991-02-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jeff Jarrett
Walker & Thompson were, for a week, known as "The U.S. Male Revue", which if that isnt a name for a traveling strip show, I've never heard one. I figured Walker would be a bigger star than he was (he did make it to WWF for like 4 months) with his David Coverdale head on Ultimate Warrior body. Thompson would continue his Essential Services Gimmick Motif a few months from this by becoming a Firebreaker. Austin and Jarrett had fine matches here and I wonder if looking back, Jarrett would have treated Austin differently. I mean, really, Jeff. You were making the same money Austin made per week at the gimmick table before intermission was over. You had to be a snot, didnt you, Mr. BMOC? Bit you in the ass, didnt it?

[1991-01-13-UWA] El Hijo del Santo vs Brazo de Oro
This was all just WAY too much fun. The fans, literally, carry Hijo on their shoulders to the ring. I'm surprised Lawler never pulled that now that I think of it. I loved the little kid wearing a The Cure t-shirt in the second skit. Im a mark for masks being soaked with blood from the inside.

[1991-02-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Eddie Marlin, Jamie & Bill Dundee
I have only a vague memory of what Max Andrews even looks like. I dont think he ever once showed up in Memphis. And thus begins the run of J.C. Ice Baby. I never understood his appeal. I remember going to spot shows and the college aged girls would be screaming "Fuck Me, JC, Fuck Me!!!"

[1991-02-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett vs Fabulous Ones / Interview: Jerry Lawler
Eddie's back after a quick trip to Canada (at least thats where the Apter mags said he went. The CNWA? Something like that) and Lawler and the crew pull a pretty convincing little story out of their collective ass to tie this whole Lawler-Fabs-Funk bounty-Gilbert mess together. Thats the split-second thinking-on-your-feet creativity I love from Memphis wrestling. Amidst the brawl, Lawler rips Eddie's very new looking, super trendy Guess t-shirt, which were NOT cheap. I bet there was mild heat there for that one. In the dozen or so folks that came to break this up was Eli the Eliminator. I'd forgotten his little two-week run here. Jerry Lynn had some serious hair back then.

[1991-02-01-USWA Texas] Rumble Royal
I think every promotion by this time copied the Royal Rumble (with some other clever name) at least once. Michael St. John is a blithering idiot. Or course, after he leaves, we here in Jarrett-land have Corey Macklin inflicted upon us. What we all did in a previous life to deserve him, I'll never know.
