[1990-06-16-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler vs The Snowman
Im only half way through and this 1990 set is the best purchase I've made in a LONG time. 1990 is so murky in my memory banks that these dvds are reminding me of things or just showing me I'd remembered them wrong. For instance, I didnt remember Snowman being the babyface in this fued. I thought that Lawler was the tweener (for lack of a better word) and Snowman was the heel. I had them completely mixed up.

[1990-06-06-IWA-TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
I wonder if there was a tense conversation between Lawler & Marshall over Stagger Lee's burial of the king on AWA TV. I have a feeling that the first thing Lee said on sight was a weaselly "Verne told me to do it!" Lawler was probably like "oh, Lee. Didnt recognize you without the mustache. Grow it back you fat-faced, chronic masturbator looking fuck. Now, lets get these promos over with. Gawd, this backdrop is ugly."

[1990-06-02-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler and The Snowman / Jerry Lawler vs Freezer Thompson
Of course, Lawler's opponent is black. Maybe Im reading too much into that since Memphis always had a ton of black job guys. I have literally no idea who the shorter Brian Lee looking dude that was sidekicking with Bruno is at all. Why the hell would that DJ WANT a bodyguard to keep those ladies away? Those raven-haired hardbodies in the lingerie (and Im not a big fan of fancy lacey lingeree. It always seems like such a waste of money). were pretty fine. BTW, the era of the DJ getting tons of the poonanny were long gone, even back in 1990 so this was all bull cookies.

I dont get the internet hate for the 'Birds. Scott Keith has always had a venomous hatred for them and I just never understood it. I ordered a Badstreet USA t-shirt around this time. WCW, being WCW, sends me a shirt a size too small. Ended up as a tight undershirt under a sweatshirt on particuarly chilly winter days.

[1990-06-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler vs The Snowman / Interview: Lou Winston
Im a sometimes theatre director (got paid a couple times). One of my flaws (some will say my thriftiness. An actor referred to me as "Roger Corman" one time and thats still the greatest compliment ever paid me) is a habit of obsessing over the little piddly details instead of the big picture. So, of course, the one take away of this segment is Lou Winston's "Big LEW" hat and jacket. I could have sworn it was always "Lou" and not "Lew". But then, his middle name could be Edgar and LEW are his initials. Snowman stinks as a wrestler but that one left jab was wicked.

[1990-05-19-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler and The Snowman
I agree with PeteF3 in that the key is that kayfabe is never broken. It could have been so easy/lazy to do but they take the high road. Snowman had been in the area before a couple of times. Once under a mask as The Killer and then without the mask as The Snowman. He had a habit of no-showing Louisville and Evansville, IIRC.
