  1. And to be fair, while Savage shouldn't have got paranoid like that, that fucker Hogan absolutely did have lust in his eyes!
  2. First of all I rant and moan every week about one thing at least on Dynamite, I take offence to the suggestion that I am a v positive person without having a shred of being a miserable bastard. I had for instance specifically said that while I loved the Hangman spot in the Halloween match, I didn't like the match itself. Second, Hangman isn't Eddie Kingston. He used to do that shit a year back, when he didn't feel confident in himself and had insecurity - incidentally, exactly where Eddie is right now. He has outgrown it, it is character evolution that is crucial to his story. It's the same reason he talked about being brave enough to take time off to be a dad in the middle of the hottest run of his career. It's this calmness that has given him the confidence he didn't have before, something Eddie still lacks. There will come a time when he will snap at someone else, but that's not the correct story here. For what it's worth, Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley showed pretty much the same amount of melodrama in their feud last year, because the melodrama fit their story too.
  3. Disagree completely. Hangman did fully listen to him and respond by calling out Omega's bullshit, instead of interrupting him by smacking him in the face, because he needed to. He needed to calmly tell the world that Omega's manipulation does not affect him anymore, because he sees through it. He knows that Omega is scared of him, and he wanted to tell the world he knows that. Omega's bullshit isn't going to faze him anymore, because he realizes the bullshit isn't a weapon, it's a crutch. A shield. Also, the best way to get to Omega wasn't to punch him, but to (kind of) mention Ibushi. The gasp from the crowd proved that. I thought it was perfectly done. I definitely find a lot of the melodrama the Elite does to be cringe and complete turn-offs, but I thought this was a great example of excellent pro wrestling melodrama.
  4. That was a home run of a contract signing and final segment. Tremendous episode of Dynamite, best in quite some time. The Hangman era is going to be awesome.
  5. That tag match was just an excellent TV match
  6. When exactly was it coined? The story I remember is that it was coined during the Invasion angle when all WWF heels were getting cheered against the outsiders but not X-Pac. He had been terrible the year before, yeah
  7. On the other hand, every single thing about this Punk-Kingston feud has been pitch perfect
  8. How the fuck is this Hardy-Cassidy feud still going on. Petition to rename the always unfairly named X-Pac heat to Matt Hardy heat.
  9. I mean, I know that when I flirt with a girl, I sure as hell don't call her my fetish lol Wardlow looks so great destroying people
  10. Did...did Max Caster call Jungle Boy his fetish??
  11. Lol has Rebel injured herself again? She gets hurt every time she wrestles
  12. Bryan Danielson will NOT repeat a finisher
  13. Full Gear is shaping up to be great!

I would have never guessed there was a demand for Memphis tapes in the 90s NYC tape trading market. I would've thought people there would have been asking for AJPW/NJPW tapes as well as other more violent/hardcore collections from FMW and ECW and things. To be fair, Memphis fits squarely in the latter.

In his interviews, I have also seen him lament the fact that most of the surviving tapes from his prime are from his blowoff matches, where he basically worked the same match - 90% offence, righteous anger, just eat your opponent and spit him out for the rabid fans - against different opponents, and that the first matches of his feuds have rarely survived, where he would - apparently - do scientific wrestling, go to 60-minute draws, and often sell his ass off. Maybe he is thinking of such matches when he draws a comparison between his prime run and his 80s matches. From his prime, you can tell that while he is not the smoothest, he has a lot more balance and co-ordination than, say, Hogan or a lot of the roided 80s WWF guys, despite being as big as those guys, if not bigger. He could run the ropes more convincingly, his snapmares and headlock takedowns would have a smoothness that someone like Hogan's just didn't have. My guess would be that this is what he meant when he said - and he said it often - that his 1980s WWF run was embarrassing, and he felt he could not perform to his own standards and expectations.

Eddie Kingston is the fucking MAN
  17. Hey remember when there were some fans acting like WWE paid for Lee's medical expenses to give them a nice PR shine.

That Punk-Eddie confrontation was so great, man. They both looked really authentic there, including Punk being swarmy and saying "Full Gear? Are you sure, a PPV? I thought something more your speed like Dark and Elevation!" which is a dick thing to say to King. They both did exactly what they had to do, and I am beyond hyped for this match and the PPV
  19. They really had no idea how to book him huh lol. It is like the easiest thing in the world. I have said it before multiple times on this board, but he is like The Incredible Hulk come to life. Just let him smash. He'll make you money.

Basically, for the West Coast, Dynamite now airs live from 5 - 7 PM instead of 8-10 PM like it used to until 2 weeks back. Airing live means the West Coast gets it in real time instead of during "their" 8-10 PM timeslot which is obviously the far better slot for viewership. Same with Mountain Time Zone viewers. This would affect AEW significantly because it's clear they have a massive fanbase in the West Coast. Hopefully when they move to TBS, they revert to the usual prime time scheduling. Interestingly, I believe a similar dynamic was also present during the Monday Night Wars, where Nitro would air live from 5-8 PM on the West Coast, and then immediately run into a replay of Nitro from 8-11 PM. Having your network own your promotion can be a very convenient thing sometimes.
  21. They released an Indian Hindu wrestler on Diwali hahahahaha. This is just beyond parody, man. What a company.

Well, brother Ragemaster, looks like Vince didn't think Keith Lee was a big guy either. He definitely will tower over these AEW wrestlers. If he is healthy and up for it, there's no way I don't pick him immediately if I am Tony Khan
  23. Keith Lee is as close to a can't-miss prospect as there ever can be in wrestling. It is incredible how badly they fucked him up. I know he got sick, but they booked him bad before his illness, and booked him bad in his comeback. Absolutely stunned at how badly he was handled.

We can have a discussion on this the day wrestling is nuanced enough to book a woman (leave alone a man) sleeping around as the question of sexual enpowerment. Until then, this is such a vague hypothetical that I don't even know how to discuss it. Would this be in the context of someone cheating on their partner? An unhappy relationship? A comedy angle where turns out the husband is gay? I'm not trying to shut down this discussion, by all means go ahead and discuss this if you wish, I just think that until wrestling shows like ten times the maturity it has ever shown, I just find it such a pointless discussion.

Focusing most of your pre-PPV zhows on the Inner Circle-ATT build as the build to your hottest main event ever is relegated to comedy matches and insider joke booking of a rematch and similar promos probably doesn't help either. MJF-Darby had a great segment but they had done pretty much exactly this a week back, same with Britt. In fairness though, from all indications, this show had to be modified and was put together at the last minute due to the Moxley news.
