  1. No Mercy on the N64 will always be it for me frankly, it was brilliant at the time. I also have a special palcei n my heart for WCW / NWO Revenge on the same system. It was pretty much the same engine, with perhaps a better roster too, just minus the graphical charms, the real music, game modes etc.
  2. Similar to Foley taking the pin on Edge setting up their Wrestlemania 22 match as well.
  3. That is exactly how I pictured Dave living.
  4. Lawler is still an amazing puncher. Bret Hart used to look like he was swinging for the fences every time and it was utterly believable.
  5. Meng in 2001 for WWE was pretty odd IMO, he didn't hang around for long either. The only thing of note here was that he held a WCW title at the time of his debut... so much for time honored traditions.
  6. Watched the Kharma shoot and I thought it was poor. It was just fluff mostly with no substance.
  7. Oh man, I remember this so clearly, and it was exactly the sort of BS that if it works and you're trying to hook them, you're only screwing yourself. Because that line implies a big WWF guy jumping ship, and anything short of that becomes a screwjob, let alone a very standard storyline *with someone who has only ever been in WCW*. I mean, the line is literally true, but still. I always pictured Vince trying his best to stop it
  8. RVD talks about it in Bloodstained Memoirs, by all accounts it seems pretty fundamental, just learning the ropes and mat wrestling.

I think they're doing RVD-Orton at SummerSlam, and RVD will probably go over, because Orton is turning heel and cashing in at the end of the night. It wouldn't make sense to take the belt off Del Rio since the eventual build looks to be Dolph beating him for it. Christian is getting the "reward the vet on his last run with a big payday" spot, and I'm fine with that. Him and Del Rio will have a good match, and Christian is good enough to get the fans into it even though everyone "knows" he's losing Agreed, I think it will be a very good match. This Summerslam is shaping up to be the best since the excellent 2005 one.

I'll be checking this out tonight, can't wait
  11. I just still can't get over that generic theme music. I'd love to hear the thought process, if any, behind picking that.
  12. Dunno but he is allergic/intolerant to a lot of stuff. Bryan got those muscles on his neck and shoulder through hard work and a great diet. Exactly. I know people with a similar physique who play rugby who are completely chemical free, they simply eat well (and very regimented) don't drink, and work out 5 times a week. Daniel Bryan doesn't scream steroids at all.
  13. Remember too that this was Japan in the early 80's, where there were like 1% of the foreigners there now. Dave Meltzer - the sex machine enigma gaijin.

Wrestling Inc? That's more than a pinch of salt, that''s a mountain of Saxa!
  15. Ric Flair sounded like a proper spanner when he said only Kurt Angle could keep up with Brody for an hour out of the current crop.
  16. Would have been big years ago, in 2013, not so much.
  17. Glad to see Rockers / Demolition matches getting credit here, that was classic tag team wrestling.
  18. The Al Snow / Bossman angles were gold, and they are still talked about today fondly. The matches stunk which is a shame because they had a couple of blinding Hardcore outings earlier that year.
  19. Sleeze, if Bret retired in 1991, how do you think he would be regarded today? Basically if he was just a tag wrestler and he didn't enter singles full time that Spring.
  20. Ryback is a huge missed oppertunity to me. They should have run with him last year when it felt organic, as it stands, he is well below the upper tier and it shows.
  21. It's a shame that this match doesn't get mentioned anywhere near as much as the Mania one as it is still brilliant on its own standing. Everything from the entrances, to the stare down to the match itself and how it was put together; I was on the edge of my seat as a young boy watching it for the first time badly wanting Bret to win. Brilliant stuff.
  22. This match didn't gain much traction for me. The image of Rey standing on top of the cage was a cool one though. To me, it will always be about their 2/3 falls match.
  23. I'm not 100%, but I think "shoot" in "shootfighting" and its prowres slang derivation derive from the actual wrestling terminology of "shoot" as going in for a tackle. Hence "shootfighting" = strike-based combat sport with grappling elements, various MMA-exclusive teams and groups that incorporate "shoot" into their name, etc. I may be missing your point here but I don't think Tenay's necessarily exposing the biz. Agreed, like the term "shooter". Dr Mike Tenay is awesome anyway.
