Summerslam 2014
The crowd really needed a palate cleaner like this before the main event.

Summerslam 2014
Trips and Steph celebrating was phenomenal. Match wasn't bad either. My fiancee, watching because of her interest in Total Divas, was bummed by the turn.

Summerslam 2014
Steph's outfit is pretty similar to Chyna's old ones. Trips has a type!

Summerslam 2014
Crazy Ambrose is amazing and they are insane if he's not main eventing by the end of the year. Love that his logo is the DA with the A creating the anarchy sign. Very nice bit of branding.

Germans love Mountain Dew! My stream won't even go to full screen.

Summerslam 2014
Their marketing of the network is getting kinda misleading - they are making it very easy to think that 9.99 total gets you the next six months, not 9.99/month.

The stream is pretty terrible right now.

[1998-02-22-WCW-Superbrawl VIII] DDP vs Chris Benoit
The reaction to the near fall on the rolling Germans really hits home how over Benoit was at the time, and how much WCW missed the boat with him. Put me back in the context of being a Benoit mark in this time period - and taken that way, the finish was very well executed and appropriately heartbreaking.

[1998-02-21-ECW-Cyberslam] Shane Douglas & Bam Bam Bigelow vs Sabu & Rob Van Dam
Really putting Douglas over here, kicking out of a number of finishers. Also surprising to see Van Dam do a job. Watching a lot of ECW at the moment, and I'm into '97 - curious to see if there are any hidden gems from '98, because the main event stuff is so far fairly weak, other than Sandman-Sabu.

[1998-02-02-WCW-Nitro] Kevin Nash promo
I definitely owned a Wolfpac shirt around this time. Really apprehensive about rewatching that period, which I know I liked.

[1998-02-16-WCW-Nitro] Bret Hart and Brian Adams
There's at least a couple of episodes of TV burned through here. Why not do Adams/Hart against two nWo guys on Thunder? They haven't even explained who Adams is before he turns!

[1998-02-15-WWF-No Way Out] Steve Austin & Cactus Jack & Chainsaw Charlie & Owen Hart vs New Age Outlaws & Hunter Hearst Helmsley & Savio Vega
I thought this was pretty fun and agreed with shoe's rating. The pop for Austin's hot tag was incredible - you could see the crowd rising to their feet in anticipation for it, and then just losing their minds when it happened. This didn't really move the story lines forward at all, but what was there to move forward? There's not much more to this than Austin wanting a piece of Michaels.

[1998-02-11-ECW-TV] Tommy Dreamer and Justin Credible
This was really awkward and weird. Credible is obnoxious but in no way entertaining. In some ways, I think the Credible push was Heyman picking up on something - that the "cool heel" was becoming an industry-wide problem. WCW has the nWo getting a good chunk of the cheers and certainly selling the most merchandise. DX is mostly trying to entertain the fans and is only staying heel because they're against Austin. Credible is despicable and not presented in any way that would make him "cool." It's honestly a smart move, except for the fact that Credible isn't actually good enough to pull it off.

[1998-02-12-WCW-Thunder] Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage
Savage was phenomenal here, and this was a good use of Hogan's character at this point.

WWE Network... It's Here
Except that these have taken the place of the Raw Flashbacks on the schedule, just when they were about to get up to the Monday Night Wars era.

[1998-02-04-ECW-TV] Taz & Bam Bam Bigelow vs Chris Candido & Shane Douglas & Lance Storm (Handicap)
I'm trying to remember if there was a good explanation for why Bigelow came back into the fold, but otherwise, the layout of the angle is great. Taz is suckered in because of his immense pride - of course he would think he could take out three men himself and had to prove that his belt was greater (which makes no sense). It played into Candido's jealous character in developing the heat between him and Storm.

[1998-02-03-BJW-Indy Hyper J Tournament] Yoshihiro Taijiri vs Gedo
They actually have BJ F'n W shirts! Hilarious. Also, the soccer style use of magic spray on Tajiri's shoulder was great. I thought Tajiri was great in this - bringing great energy and hate. Loved the slap across the face of Gedo when he was on top. Great selling, nice finish.

General thoughts on 1998
Anytime we get more than a couple of segments of Raw it wears me down - everything is so hyper it almost gives me a headache. It's obvious why it worked so well at the time - it's really pitched at the attention span and energy of teenagers.

[1998-02-02-WWF-Raw] Cactus Jack vs Chainsaw Charlie
I feel like these guys have had better matches, maybe in ECW, that weren't so weapons based. The "real life" angle is nothing ECW hadn't done better, multiple times before. JR using the term "over" on TV is just weird. I did enjoy Scorp and Vince's performances, though.
