AEW Dynamite - May 27 2020
Britt Baker choosing to redo the 1998 Chris Jericho character is a great piece of business.

Is Impact* the best wrestling promotion in history? *(Now TNA again, 2024)
If that's the case and Impact is comfortable with her coming in on a short-term deal, good for them in being aggressive about getting talent and being secure enough in there place in the world to recognize she might just be stopping in.

Total reckless speculation...

Current New Japan
That would actually protect the tag leagues, I think. The G1 was lined up for Sept-Oct because of the Olympics, so to do the BOSJ without doing it at the same time as the G1, they'd either need to cut one or both tag leagues or somehow add a tour in August when the Olympics were supposed to screw things up.

Current New Japan
You'd have to think the plans for the tag leagues were being altered anyway because of the late G1. They could do both tag leagues on the same tour? Might be more fun anyway, and cover for the leagues being a bit smaller because of travel restrictions.

83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff
Let's just say it: Conrad Thompson as a host is a rich man's Rob Feinstein.

AEW Double or Nothing 2020
Yeah, not sure how I'd rate that Stadium Stampede match but it was a load of fun. Which I think goes for the whole show after the underwhelming and too long ladder match (and even that had some good bits and a good choice of winner, but didn't hang together). Archer vs. Cody is the one that felt it really would have been taken up a notch with a crowd, because Cody's comeback after the shit kicking he took would have had people losing their mind.

Is Charlotte Flair the most overpushed WWE wrestler of the century?
To be fair, all the backstage stuff around that seemed less about her politicking and more about Vince wanting to "make" an extra star out of the first women's Wrestlemania main event. Didn't agree with the logic, but there was really heavy reporting on this and no one was saying Charlotte was demanding the slot.

[1994-10-30-WWF-Action Zone] Shawn Michaels & Diesel vs 1-2-3 Kid & Razor Ramon
One of the classic tape trading internet lore matches of the 90s, in part because it's so good and in part because no one saw it when it aired. As others have pointed out, truly amazing how it lives up to the hype - remember finally getting a copy of this and not being let down at all, and it stands up on rewatch. Just keeps building until a clever little finish. Top 5 WWF tag match of the 90s, and maybe #1.

AEW Dynamite - May 20 2020
She was really clicking with a crowd, but she's barely 3 years in the business. Not optimal to have her adapting to this situation, I think.

All Elite Wrestling
Not the first time a wrestling name has been the better one to fit a person. Is Hogan really a Terry? Rock really a Dwayne?

AEW Dynamite - May 20 2020
I liked the show on the whole, although, in retrospect, I'm stunned there's no big Cody promo. He's been absolutely amazing at that the last year, and not having one is making this match feel a bit lesser. Mox-Lee still feels a stop-gap because they didn't want to burn a money match on an empty arena show, but that it would have worked much better in a few months when the Lee character had filled in a bit beyond a caricature. Feels like they need a real banger just to help solidify Lee. The Stadium Stampede is a clever way to basically replace Blood and Guts. The visual of the Page run-in was great.

Shad Gaspard passes away
Particularly as a parent of a young kid, this one made me real sad.

WWE Money in the Bank : what the world is not watching
Otis is the modern Hillbilly Jim. I finally watched the match and thought it was surprisingly lacking drama. Basically a series of sketches that didn't really build to anything - the climbing spots at the end felt completely disconnected from everything before it. They should do more matches on the roof of the Tower, though, it was a cool looking venue.

WWE Money in the Bank : what the world is not watching
I don't think they're trying to push Otis as a long-term singles star. They're in a period where nothing really matters, and Otis winning is a clip they can use for years to show "anyone can win Money in the Bank!" If there's someone they did want to strap a rocket to, this would be the worst time to do it. So instead, they can give Otis some credibility and do some humor around him holding the case.

MLW Fusion, anyone watching it?
I mean, that's been a recurring problem for them, because they're running on a shoe string and just not in a position to really pay anyone, it seems. When people are choosing Impact over you, you're not paying enough. And so they're going to lose talent and hit ruts sometimes. I had frankly quit on the show late last year and only came back because I now have a lot of work from home time where I could have some TV on in the background, and I ended up plowing through the months I missed. Found the Dynasty and Mancer in particular had become really fun, and MLW does a good job of featuring the engaging parts of the roster on a weekly basis.

I am very in for whatever Tower of Doom absurdity they seem to be moving toward with the Dynasty-Mancer.

IWTV Guide
An interesting idea, I love IWTV but find myself a little paralyzed on what to check out sometimes.

It seems like AEW tested a lot of people out in those interviewer roles, and maybe no one had any long-term contracts initially. A lot of people have shown up and disappeared.

They were actually on something of a hot streak beforehand, with the Opera Cup show in NY and then the Dallas and Philly tapings being mostly pretty good. The AAA stuff wasn't great but they also really needed to stretch to fill time.

MLW Fusion, anyone watching it?
I've found most of the work in these last few episodes really poor, style clashes and way long matches. The Mance Warner/Savio tag match was also about 10 minutes too long.

NWA Powerrr
This episode has been a brutal slog, just gutting it out to get to the main.

WWE Money in the Bank : what the world is not watching
The whole Fiend booking progression was so incredibly strange, as they skipped right past him being an upper mid-carder before figuring out how the character worked in matches and just set themselves up for disaster. When you're putting him in title matches and main events, the bar is way high. Put it in the midcard and who cares if Bray's latest idea falls flat?

That one last week was funny but endless. Definitely needed a trim down. But agreed that the show has been very fun as of late.
