Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Also for Parv (and for everyone) - Riche wrote a piece with Greg P over at PTBN as we come up on Bound For Glory. Highlights some other good stuff to check out: http://placetobenation.com/second-rate-or-second-best/

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
I know you're not a YT guy typically - but this user "TNAclassic upload" has a lot of the individual matches noted above. Test drive before you buy if you will. I would love to hear your thoughts on how this holds up based on you having no history with the promotion.

The Best of Halloween Havoc
Charles mentioned the Regal/Davey Boy Smith TV Title match from '93 being exceptional (15 minute draw).

The Best of Halloween Havoc
I'm thinking a best and worst of HH may be the ticket. Hard to not mention any of those.

The Best of Halloween Havoc
The 1990 show really looks good. Four 15+ minute tag matches!

The Best of Halloween Havoc
I'm crowd sourcing a top ten list for the best Halloween Havoc matches (topical of course) and would love everyone's help with nominations and subsequent discussion. Just a couple quick to get the discussion started: 1989 - Luger / Pillman 1997 - Misterio / Guerrero 1998 - DDP / Goldberg Which matches would make your list?

Wrestling Culture Episode 50
Right - plus if you put together a top 50 now, your baseline has been created. The hard work is over. In two years when you revisit - and we've all watched a ton more - you have ready-made debates based on your prior list and can move things around without completely having to re-create the wheel. There's no reason to wait

Where the Big Boys Play #51
Also - loved PeteF3 on the show. Please bring him back prior to SuperBrawl III!

Where the Big Boys Play #51
These were my notes on the main event from the yearbook thread with some pieces tacked on: So the storyline from the broadcasters was Luger had a knee injury which led to the staph infection. He didn't sell any kind of knee injury (even during the match it was pretty sporadic) though. I don't know why they didn't use this injury to tell the story here - was really odd. After also recently watching WrestleWar 90, things do translate nicely here. Luger is SUPER fired up (despite the illness) and gets all the offense until the knee buckles and Flair takes over. Flair constantly climbing the cage was odd but the announcers tried to cover it with Flair doing this to slow things down and throw Luger off his game. Flair gets super bloody also which the match needed. My favorite part of the Horsemen coming down is Sid doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Of course we get a very lame finish of Ole raising the cage. Gigante coming down (and also doing nothing) was pretty underwhelming, outside Ole being scared. I liked this a lot less than WW90 and can imagine that watching and following the months of build back in 1990 - this was a super lame letdown of an ending. Even not taking into account all the hijinx at the end, I still liked this less (***1/2 tops). Part of me (in hindsight -and in a 2013 vacuum) just assumed Luger was written off TV after this, so the DQ made at least a little sense. Then I check out that he "wrestles" Sid at Clash XI and then he faces Mark Callous at GAB 90. Jesus, they really did bury this guy - even after trying to retcon it that they didn't "really".

[1990-01-20-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler / Interview: Junkyard Dog
Combined my thoughts in the other thread for the first part of this segment on the disc. JYD cuts an ok promo. Shame we didn't get more of a match between the two.

[1990-01-20-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Junkyard Dog
This has to have one of the most ill-timed commercial breaks ever. You have Lawler finally knocked down by JYD and they come back with Lawler firmly in control thanks to a chain. Just a huge part of the match that the USWA wasted there. That said - even if the limited action, I was pretty glued here. Terrence Garvin's "He's my favorite wrestler" made me chuckle due to his inflection. JYD finally causes Lawler to lose the chain and a big headbutt gets a near-fall. DQ as JYD clobbers Garvin after Lawler pushes him off the apron. Heel Lawler's shtick is pretty fun (especially the crowd flipping out and pointing to the chain on the turnbuckle. He really worked those guys).

That was all on disc one? Guess I'm picking this one up sooner than later.

[1990-01-20-USWA-Memphis TV] Music Video: Jeff Jarrett
"He's the hot new sensation...just like INXS!" I loved INXS back in the day. Guessing Bon Jovi never saw royalties from the UWSA for this.

[1990-01-20-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Lawler's final segment where he cuts hard on JYD was real solid. I thought he was saying that Dave Brown had past footage of JYD pinning him - not the tape of the promo JYD cut - but maybe I misheard.

[1990-01-19-NWA-Power Hour] Arn Anderson vs Buzz Sawyer
Tidy TV Title match here (alliteration!) . Liked the power slam from Buzz and felt Arn did a nice job getting over what kind of monster Buzz was. Both guys trade some solid shots into the ring post outside and Buzz kicks out of the spinebuster before the gang runs in. Buzz does get to do his big top rope splash on Ole after Muta mists Arn. Solid advancement towards the already announced Clash match.

[1990-01-19-USWA Texas] Bill Dundee & Chris Adams & Eric Embry vs Billy Travis & Gary Young & Skandor Akbar
Pretty hot six-man here - nice start by Dundee as he has his way with Travis and they do some fun stuff before the heat segment on Adams. Announcers do a nice job putting over the drama (especially with Toni) and the crowd is super hot for this. Embry "accidently" knocks over Toni and Adams flips his shit and we get a great visual of the heels laughing and pointing in the ring while those two brawl. No contest but a pretty fun angle-advancer here. Some questionable tights though - the one legged one by Travis so scuzzy. Dundee pulls off the yellow zebra ones though.
