Oh well I don't want you to go to any extra trouble. I'll enjoy from the sidelines. Solar and Super Astro better end up on the Moon! If things go bad, I may need a Lucha Consultant in the late rounds.

Early picks reinforce my long-held belief that 1989 is the best year in wrestling history.

I've run similar games on other boards and the format we always used was 24 hours for the first round and 6 hours for subsequent rounds.

The highspots should be 6x higher if my math is right.

PWO 1988 - 1992 Draft Discussion
I understand the idea of having a spreadsheet but honestly if we were to try and compile a list it would have thousands of names on it especially since we're going from all over the world and it would just be too much to try and grasp. I can give you some links to look at some people that were active at that time maybe look at the pwi lists or something like that as a reference I know that's what I did to make my big board that's got over 200 names on it already and that's just people that I'd like to draft not necessarily the thousands that are available to draft I just poured over cards on Prowrestlinghistory.com and Wrestlingdata.com from '88-'92 that were similar to the style I want to run and started putting together a depth chart. If you've got a clear vision of what you want your card to look like, it's a ton easier than going over a spreadsheet and trying to remember who is who and what they were doing when.

As an outside observer, I can't tell you how happy I am to see Williams and Regal in UWFi.

Dear 2026 Wrestling Obsessives
When you fill out your ballot, don't do the thing where you say "I was going to put her at #whatever, because I hadn't seen enough to go higher, but I knew that was too low, so I just left her off entirely." That makes your - and by extension our - list objectively worse. A too-low ranking is better than no ranking at all.

Your Wrestling Guilty Pleasure
After watching the promo before Payback, it looks like Camp WWE is going to make this list for me.

Wrestlers you really dislike
Okada is the Randy Orton of New Japan.

Worst Professional Wrestler Ever?
Two years later, the answer is still Raja Lion.

Reactions to the List: 10-1
I don't remember my ballot and didn't save it, but that was probably me. I had Misawa, Taue, and Kobashi all in a row pretty far down, because I really do hate the way they wrestle but have to admit they are very good at it. And then they got bumped up a few spots as I remembered some people I wanted to include but wasn't willing to suggest were actually better than those guys. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably stick to my "you know what, fuck 90s AJPW" guns and omit them entirely.

I had Brisco in or near my top ten. I'm legit stunned not to be the high voter there, but he's neck and neck with Billy Robinson for my favorite wrestler of the 70s. Harley I never even considered. Can't stand his prime work.

Your Wrestling Guilty Pleasure
I resist the term "guilty pleasure" because I don't feel bad about any of it, but the top of my Unpopular Opinions list is probably the Lance Storm/Justin Credible Impact Players. I will go to my grave insisting that Credible was the best heel of 1999. (Granted, I will also go to my grave insisting '99 was the worst year in wrestling history, but still.) Everyone in the country was trying to be a Cool Heel. Credible got genuine hate. Love that team.

Owen Hart
The Dungeon match with Shamrock is maybe the best possible Attitude Era match. If you were genuinely trying to make compelling "Action Adventure TV" with three minute wrestling matches, that would be model.

Dear 2026 Wrestling Obsessives
2026ers, two things - 1) Leave your comfort zone. Whatever you're into, go watch something else for a few months. You're a lucha guy? Shoot-style deep dive. Modern indies your thing? Find all the Golden Age you can. Use that time to fill in your blind spots. 2) Embrace your biases. Once you've done the work, you love what you love. Ric Flair leaves you cold after two years of trying to get into his shit? Don't vote for that motherfucker. The revisionist history on AJ Styles drives you nuts? It's ok to have him at the bottom of your list. You're the only one who understands the beauty of Daisuke Sekimoto? Vote early, vote often.
