Does anyone still watch wrestling on videotapes?
I sold my tapes back in 2001 to a friend knowing they'd be pretty much redundant in the years to come. If I still had them I very much doubt I'd bother trying to watch them due to the sheer amount, the lack of labelling on some and the quality of some of the ones that I got through trading over the years. So much easier now to watch some on HDD's, YouTube, The Network and DVD. We're spoilt nowadays.

Does anybody give a shit about Randy Orton?
When motivated Orton is great fun. Shame that these times are few are far between. He'd be best served to take a sabbatical, but I highly doubt that will happen unless he picks up an injury.

Shoots Review and Preview thread
I'm very much looking forward to this. Are the same guys doing an R&R doc too?

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
I never really understood the appeal of the 6 sides ring personally.

Dave Meltzer stuff
"We haven't even talked about the kitty litter and milk segment". It's come to this.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
It lost far less money, so if we're using that as a gauge for success, then yes.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Crowd was a reported 3000, but TNA are good at making that look a lot more on TV, plus they were a hot crowd which helped.

Wrestling Observer Recap: 6/2/90
I never knew that it was reported that The Road Warriors would debut in WWF as heels.

What does wrestling need to get hot again?
I think now more than ever WWE have to create a star who doesn't just appeal to the american audience, which is going to be inherently harder.

What does wrestling need to get hot again?
Some actual good points, I guess I am not thinking that far back, but I concede that in many places one territory had a monopoly pre '84.

What does wrestling need to get hot again?
So, don't do two of the things that were hugely significant parts of the last "boom"? Because for better or worse, they were. Were there really ? Take Steve Austin and The Rock off the equation, and all you got is stupid insider references and shitty comedy. And that was basically WCW in 2000. Just a thought, don't mean to derail the thread, however do people think if the internet didn't exist in the form it did in 1998 onwards then WCW would still be around as booking for the "smarts" wouldn't of occurred in the way it did, which was a reason they tanked?

Power Slam magazine
Any magazine that has Bix, Mookie and Magnus writing for them has to be the winner. Sorry PS.

What does wrestling need to get hot again?
History has taught us that previously wrestling has been cyclical, but that was with competition and other facts that are just not their anymore. Tough to say that's 100% the case still.

WWE Finances
I wonder how many people simply asked their CC companies to stop payment? I can't imagine anyone being *that* dissatisfied with the Network already, to take that kind of action. But... Back in the old "900" number days this was a major issue, people would run up charges and simply not pay them. The local phone companies in most cases didn't enforce payment because we they didn't want to lose companies. I had a few friends than ran 900 numbers for their businesses and it was a huge lose. This may be comparible to WWE's problems today, the bill is not tied to your other bills so no one is accountable. I have a friedn that subscribes, and he is disabled so he is on a fixed income. He got a Visa cash card from a check cash place and and uses that, nothing ties that money to anything. He puts money on it to use for online purchases etc. It could be an issue due to WWE's lower economic audience. Bryan Alvarez brought up the same reason why he shut down his 900 line back in the day.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
I tried to watch Impact last night. I really tried but I lasted less than 10 minutes. Robbie E running away scared of balloons attached to his trunks was just cringeworthy.

This is the most ill informed post I've read on here.

Wrestling in unusual contexts
- Power Slam magazine
Fin's total blinkered views on Cena can get a little tiresome. PowerSlam and its forerunner SuperStars Of Wrestling did to their credit have great photo's each month in the 90's courtesy of Wally Yamaguchi from Japan and George Tahinos from ECW. The magazine to me went downhill when they lost Rob Butcher and Lister as writers on a regular basis. PowerSlam was a gateway magazine for discovering none commercial tapes through tape traders and then Meltzer etc. For that, thanks Fin.- Introduction to the Board as a wrestling fan
