  1. Wait, the same Joyce Meyer who is an evangelist? Damn, I thought she was one of the good ones. (I realize how naive that sounds right now...)
  2. A channel no one gets vs. a platform that's widely available for free in the U.S., Canada, and UK... Gee, I wonder which one would be better. For all of NJPW's monumental missteps in any market outside of Japan (such as NJPW World still being limited to the web and Fire/Android devices), this isn't one of them.
  3. Pretty sure that's a WWE mandate. Wrestlers are always positioned awkwardly in those segments where they're backstage watching the monitor.
  4. Let's add Miz to the list. Someone (or someones) will say "not a top guy" and that someone (or someones) will be wrong.
  5. Sorry to be "that guy" but these typos are driving me nuts. Anyway, I'm going to use Loss's post to dive into this question... Can we really credit Sr. with Andre though? I feel like Andre was such a star, such a massive attraction, that only an idiot could screw it up. Just book Andre and let him do what he does best. With that said, let's compare Sr.'s booking of Andre to how Jr. has booked every giant post-Andre - mainly The Big Show. Sr. wins handily. Of course, Jr. had his hands on Andre too, but after WrestleMania 3 and 4, what happened? Jr. had Andre doing one-minute jobs to Ultimate Warrior around the horn. I realize Andre was breaking down at this point and you want to use him to "make" people. We can argue that Andre - if not "made" Hogan - certainly helped Hogan ascend to an even higher level than before. But the Warrior matches did nothing for anyone, and it was a law of diminishing returns after that. Every giant after Andre has been booked like shit. Sure, you can argue that none of them were as special as Andre. While that may be true, Big Show was a better wrestler and more versatile in every way - and yet he was "just another guy" for most of his run. Yeah, different time and all that, but still. That's just one direct comparison of many between Sr. and Jr., but I think it illustrates the point well.
  6. So, what the hell happens at Fast Lane now? Really baffling that Bad Bunny and Damien Priest weren't the ones to cost Miz the title.
  7. The Lumberjack stip seems like a relic from the '70s.
  8. Yep, but I fully expected a fuck finish, so maybe I'm the asshole for watching this shit.
  9. Typical WWE bait-and-switch.
  10. Remember when Braun seemed like the next can't-miss main-eventer? Those days are long gone.

    I assume this isn't a direct quote?

Someone on Facebook noticed that all of the NWA content has been moved over to FiteTV. Very odd decision, assuming it wasn't already on Fite before. You'd think YouTube would be the better destination of the two since it's far more easily accessible and widely used than the semi-obscure Fite.

Update: NWA Reportedly Going To Make A “Good Announcement” Soon Following YouTube Videos Removed (Wrestling Inc. via Meltzer)
  14. C.S. replied to Coffey's topic in Pro Wrestling
This sucks, because the NWA is the centerpiece of a new video game, RetroMania Wrestling, which is the official sequel to the old WWF WrestleFest arcade game. (Remember that?)

It's over... NWA Removes All Videos From YouTube Channel (Wrestling Inc.)
  16. Well, keep in mind, Conrad is Flair's son-in-law, so that's another reason (and the most obvious reason) for him not to press the issue. Let's not pretend he's an unbiased journalist or even a journalist at all - he's just a super-successful super-fan, and I think even he'd tell you that (although part of that is clearly calculated "aw shucks" shtick instead of strictly reality).
  17. Not that exactly, but Japan's sexualization of kids is pretty well known. I believe it was covered somewhat in one of the episodes of the Damian Abraham series The Wrestlers on ViceTV.
  18. Ironic that Rick Steiner's son chose to sign with WWE when neither his father nor his uncle were ever truly successful there. Yes, a couple of inconsequential Tag Team Title reigns, but you can't say WWE ever came close to making the most out of what they had in the Steiner Brothers and later Scott Steiner compared to WCW.
  19. Yes, Bret was a world class talent. Yes, Bret was better than Anvil. However, Anvil brought a completely different style and dynamic to the team. Key word: team. To completely dismiss Anvil's contributions is pure ignorance to me. That contrast in styles is what made The Hart Foundation special and more special than a team consisting of Bret and [insert similar wrestler here] would be. Far too many fans have a very limited scope of what a "good worker" or "good work" is. The New Foundation (Anvil and Owen) didn't last long, but they had the potential to be even better in-ring than the original Hart Foundation was IMO. As for Faces of Fear being the best team of the '90s, well, I'll say they were the most underrated team of the '90s and leave it at that. P.S. I wonder if Tony Khan wanted to post here but never got his membership approved. My second attempt a couple of years later - this account - was the one that got approved. The original one never did.
  20. This one hurts. He was one of the bright spots of the NWA for me, even before Powerrr. I didn't get the Question Mark stuff, but he undeniably got that over.
  21. I remember this being for video package purposes so they could always have very specific name mentions in voiceovers - for example: "The boyhood dream has come true for Shawn Michaels!"
  22. Marty Scurll, who even ROH couldn't wait to get rid of after #SpeakingOut, popped up on some kind of NJPW show in California. Dumb move by NJPW, demonstrating yet another monumental lack of understanding of the U.S. market. https://www.fanbyte.com/wrestling/details-on-marty-scurll-at-recent-njpw-tapings/
  23. I was thinking the same thing when reading this thread. The two best ever at their respective roles getting to do it together - it was pure magic.

Big Show vs. Marko Stunt would be a main event anywhere in the world.

THIS IS THE BIGGEST SIGNING IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPORT, GUYS! Seriously though, I am genuinely shocked. I also think there's no way he was signed just to commentate a second YouTube show. I wonder what would've happened if Netflix hadn't cancelled his WWE Studios show, The Big Show Show. Did Netflix just literally change the course of wrestling history? (Okay, I'm being a bit dramatic in my wording there.) Was Show's last match technically the main event of WrestleMania (he wrestled Drew right after the Brock match and it aired on Raw) or was there another one after?
