He's a Rougeau. Mob ties really help financial security too. Not that I think the Rougeau family is tied into the Montreal Mafia. I would never ever say that. (I live within driving distance and don't need a visit from Rock Machine MC.) As the manager of Rougeau's Pizza and Poutine in Montreal, I can assure you that customers flock to this irresistible combination of culinary cuisine and we are in no way a front for illegal mob activity!

I wonder if Patrick Clark got tired of the awkward, limited Velveteen Dream gimmick. He was good in it, but it never, ever felt natural or the best way to use him. It would also die an instant death on the main roster. Not everyone can truly embrace something like that the way Dustin Runnels did with Goldust. Plus, "homosexuality" is still more frowned upon in the black community - from what I understand - so that could have something to do it with too. More troubling is that Clark had a pro-Trump heel gimmick that was apparently very effective but got yanked from him when - surprise surprise - Trump actually became President and Linda McMahon joined his cabinet. All pure speculation on my part, but it's as good a guess as any.

Are we sure those are their real homes on Total Divas though?

My memory is hazy as well, and I certainly can't recall the source, but I remember hearing that Vince was chomping at the bit to do something with the "big Samoan kid" but wanted something more high-profile than a tag team - he just wasn't sure what. Then someone (Heenan?) suggested the Yokozuna gimmick, and the rest is history. BTW, I'm impressed any of you knew who Akebono was back then - the first I heard of him was when showed up at WrestleMania a few years ago.

I got some kind of Android TV box from a friend for Christmas (I think it's this one: Bqeel AX9 Android 7.1 4K TV Box). Is there a way to get NJPW World on something like this? I've been down with a bad fever, so I haven't had the energy to set it up yet and play around with it. I'm familiar with mainstream boxes like the Roku, PS3/4, etc., but I don't know much about off-brand gadgets like this. But will they stay past their one-month membership, or even the one match they want to see? Jericho, Omega, a North American-friendly match... All of it is downright useless if NJPW doesn't cultivate new long-term fans outside its home country. That's why I've been so critical of NJPW's shortsighted bush league approach when it comes to the app. Streaming is supposedly a dead issue in Japan, so they'd be doing it for the North American market regardless.

Between the Juno address (OMG Juno WTF thought it was dead LOL) and asking someone to send him a photo he can easily download himself, it's hilarious. On top of that, isn't that his late dad's e-mail address?

Stevie Richards: He could do it all - sidekick goof, underdog babyface, menacing heel - he could play any character and deliver the goods in the ring. Steve Corino: For all the praise (not here) that Cody gets for being a throwback cosplay '80s champion, Corino actually made this role feel real and organic in his ECW run. Michael Modest: I have no idea why the hell he never made it to the WWF - he had everything going for him, except maybe size and hairline. Christopher Daniels: A lot better than he was ever pushed, and he never truly made it to the WWF either, which is a shame. Kamala: Played his character to perfection, and he could be good too. I love this board. It reminds me of a college course for pro wrestling - with all the good, bad, and ugly that entails (and I mean that in the best way possible). You get some incredible discussion, some pretentious discourse, and some heated arguments over the smallest of minutiae - everything that makes a really good college course and professor so much fun and so engaging. That Triple H thread is still one of the greatest things I've ever read!

I was thinking about this today... In my 20s, I was mostly about the Benoit type of worker. Now, I realize that Hulk Hogan was a far better worker...brother. Aside from the Sid and WM victories, Benoit never, ever took me on an emotional roller coaster in his matches the way Hogan did. Hogan got a much better match out of Warrior, for example, that Benoit and the like ever could have. Even back then though, I appreciated so-called "guilty pleasures" like Meng, Barbarian, Earthquake, etc. But I've since come to understand they were just as good at what they did as a "vanilla midget" type was at their style.

There's no questioning Cornette's hypocrisy, but I do think Kenny Omega had to have some leeway about working with a little girl.

I'm mostly the same way. Once in a while though, someone like a Bubba Dudley or Tama Tonga will say something so stupid and oblivious that I can't help myself. But 99% of the time, I keep it positive with wrestlers. I even tweeted a compliment about a Baron Corbin shirt and got a like from the big man himself. The poor guy probably gets so much hateful crap on Twitter that I'm guessing he appreciated my positive comment.

I edited my post to mention that. I have a first-gen Fire Stick though, and it's hot garbage. Still, with that app already created, I have no idea why they didn't immediately start working on apps for the Roku and PS3/4. I realize it's not a simple port-job from a technical standpoint, but at least the translation work is already done.

It blows my mind that NJPW World still doesn't have official Roku and PS3/4 support. When WrestleKingdom 12 under-performs because of it and Meltzer loses his mind, this will be why. "Casting" the site, pressing "translate" in Google Chrome, or hooking up an HDMI cable is not good enough - that's downright bush league stuff - I expect more from NJPW. I guess Jericho, Callis, and Omega aren't very tech-savvy or they would've been riding NJPW's ass for months on this. What a ridiculous oversight. This is dying days of WCW levels of incompetence. Yes, the hardcores here will cast and hook up cables, but I thought the whole point of Jericho-Omega was to lure in everyone else? Without proper app support, that won't happen. I certainly won't bother. There is an Android and Amazon Fire TV app, but my experience with Fire TV wasn't exactly all that positive (granted, I have the first-generation Fire Stick - and first-gen anything is usually hot garbage). With that building block already established, I have no idea why NJPW World didn't continue with Roku and PS3/4 apps - especially ahead of WK12.

This seems over-the-top hyperbolic to me. If Chris Hemsworth had a Twitter account as Thor and people tweeted out pro-Loki posts to him, would it be a big deal? That's every pro wrestling Twitter account. They're all working.

I can't speak for others, but I like this board and the people here, and take it seriously. Twitter - to me - is far less of a big deal, far more casual, and not something I take as seriously. While I've seen people (here and elsewhere) get into a tizzy over something the Bucks or Meltzer tweeted out, I rarely feel that level of passion for anything on Twitter. They're all working (Meltzer does a bad job of it, but he's working too), so who cares? The poster above who made J.R. memes and mock-ups would probably be banned here for doing the same thing, but damn if I didn't laugh hard at his description of the situation. The Vader thing offspring515 posted was also classic, but I disagree that he deserved to be blocked by Vader - fuck Vader for calling anyone else fat. I was howling with laughter at the body shaming campaign he waged against Vader with Steph, H, etc. With that said, I got into an argument with Vader once - I can't remember what it was about (maybe the Ospreay-Ricochet match?) - and he never blocked me. Guys, this is fucking awesome! Would our teenage selves have ever imagined getting into spats with Vader or J.R.? I don't know about you, but that's pretty incredible to me as a fan. Oh, another story... When Dolph Ziggler was stuck in that stupid love triangle storyline and made to look like the world's biggest gigolo even though he was supposedly a babyface at the time, I mentioned offhand in a tweet that he jumps from woman to woman on camera. He actually somehow saw the tweet and replied with something hilarious. That's why, as stale as Zigs has become, I can't bring myself to hate him.

They probably don't know how, lol. J.R. is old and Meltzer is a Luddite. It's possible, but I don't follow that many wrestlers - and I can't think of who would be on Ryback's naughty list. Who knows though. He isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed (but he is kind of a tool). Speaking of which, despite all the rumors of JBL blocking Mauro Ranallo followers, that never happened to me.

Feel free to post your funny interactions with wrestlers, serious interactions, interactions that pissed you off or made you scratch your head. But that's the fun part of Twitter! Especially when they respond. I think the Bucks responded to something of mine once, though I can't imagine I would've @ them since I was even less familiar with them when this happened. I can only assume I responded to someone's else post where they were already @. I've been blocked by: Bubba Ray Dudley: He was doing his usual "you marks don't know anything" routine and I gave right back to him. He's one of those can who dish it out but can't take it. With that said, I was harsh, so I understand it. Tama Tonga: He was bashing JR's commentary on Twitter instead of being a man about it and approaching JR personally. I cannot stand this millennial bullshit where kids feel they have to air their shit out on social media instead of man-to-man. He blocked me. Isn't Haku his dad? I may be wrong on that. Either way, wow, can you imagine Haku blocking anyone on Twitter like a 12-year-old girl? Most of these wrestlers are "working" on Twitter, so there's no point taking offense to the Bucks or even Meltzer (he's working a gimmick too IMO, just not a good one).
