  1. You could say that about a good quarter of the people WWE let go during the pandemic though - including and especially Keith Lee.
  2. Count me in as someone who doesn't get Swerve at all. Comparing him to Steve Austin? Come on, man. Good wrestler? Sure. Decent character? Yeah, he's fine, I guess. Charisma? Larger-than-life personality? I'm not seeing it. But I'm open to coming around on him.
  3. I'm not overly excited about a Bryan-MJF Iron Man match either, but I think everyone acting like MJF is some talentless scrub who can't work have really bought into the gimmick hook, line, and sinker. It's still real to all of you, I guess.
  4. Wardlow stopped being over - or interesting at all - the minute he won the title from Max. Blame Tony Khan all you want for that - and there's definitely plenty of blame to go around - but start-stop booking hasn't diminished Darby or Eddie Kingston in the eyes of the fans.
  5. I think Dan Lambert mentioned him before.
  6. Welp... I guess AEW didn't sign Sasha after all.
  7. He's blander than bland, and - oh - he's a sex pest.
  8. Just turned off this shit show. AEW is LOST.
  9. Nothing about this show is working for me tonight. Not the new set. Not the slow motion Jericho match. Not the unnecessary postmatch beatdown. Not this Mox-Hangman promo, where their mic work is solid as always, but the content is lacking somehow. It all feels so forced.
  10. Not sure I love the new set/look. Maybe I just need to get used to it.
  11. Did Steve Blackman change his name when he was in the same company as Steve Austin? No. So, no. I realize Mercedes is a more unique name, but Martinez has been using it for 20+ years and it's Sasha's real name.

I mean, if a typo got me an extra 5k from Jericho, I wouldn't really care what his motives were. Also, I believe there's a $5000 donation limit on that site (I could be wrong), so it may have been purposeful so he could donate more. The Queen is on your currency. And how Bryan is used in AEW, especially against Nese.
  13. Jeff and Karen just need to go away forever. I wish them no ill-will, but I don't need to hear from them ever again about anything.

I've always found it fascinating how you Europeans add an extra "g" to a word that does not need it. Like Donald Trump, whose fiasco of a re-election campaign certainly qualifies as both hard times and (mental/cognitive) illness. Seriously though, sincere kudos to Jericho for donating to a variety of wrestlers and other worthy causes. He's generous with his money, and he's a complicated guy politically (both in the Washington and wrestling sense) and otherwise. Not sure I buy brother @Dav'oh's tax break conspiracy though. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just, you know, not donate? Let's focus on what really matters here, people... Bryan having the type of AEW run that I - not him or Tony Khan - deem acceptable!
  15. I took a chance on the Justin Credible book by Kenny Casanova. I'll let everyone know how it is. I just finished it. It's not nearly as good as Guy Evans' Nitro book - of course not - but it's decent. Bischoff opens up about TNA, AEW, his loyalty to Hulk Hogan and Ted Turner, and his recent aborted WWE run as the "Executive Director" of Smackdown. Like Controversy Creates Cash, it's never the most exciting, dynamic read, but Bischoff is honest and pulls no punches. I haven't, but if you have a Kindle Unlimited membership, most of them are free to read that way. They seem like self-published books, with that entails. That doesn't necessarily make them bad, but based on the sample I read of one of them, it's basically just straight recaps. If that's your bag, go for it, but you can honestly find more in-depth show/match reviews and analysis here on PWO.

@Dav'oh Edit: Five minutes later, I'm still laughing. Post of the year!
  17. C.S. replied to goodhelmet's topic in AEW
Me too. All of those are infinitely more interesting than Bryan vs. Nese.

Fuck Bryan's career wishes and choices. If I'm Tony Khan (and I'm not), they are irrelevant to me. If I'm @C.S. (and I am), they are irrelevant to me. What should matter to TK is making a shit ton of money with Bryan as a top act, instead of cooling him down to fucking igloo levels over the past year and a half. What does matter to the fans, myself included, is seeing one of our favorite wrestlers in matches and scenarios we care about. Tony Nese is not and never will be that. And yes, I realize Nese is not to blame - nor am I actually blaming him. Of course not! But this is part of a much bigger pattern and problem with how Bryan has been used.
  19. C.S. replied to goodhelmet's topic in AEW
You're right, which is why it infuriates most of us that whatever time he has left in the ring is being wasted in inconsequential matches against ham 'n eggers like Nese.
  20. C.S. replied to goodhelmet's topic in AEW
Except be a compelling on-screen character anybody give a shit about seeing every week. But yeah, sure, he does everything else well - just not the one thing that actually matters.
  21. C.S. replied to goodhelmet's topic in AEW
Tony "The Sleeping Pill" Nese belongs on Dark or at the Nightmare Factory training wrestlers, not in a major match against Bryan Danielson on AEW's top TV show - even if Bryan personally got on his hands and knees and begged Tony Khan to book him against Nese.
  22. Imagine them languishing on Dark or in ROH. *Shudder*
  23. Did Braun tear his Hot Topic mom pants?
