AEW Dynamite - Grand Slam - September 22, 2021
Even though I wanted Pillman Jr. to win, I agree with all of this. Pillman Jr. is still "green" when it comes to stuff like this.

Great carry-job by Cody on the young boy Malakai Black. A heel Cody will be fun, if that's what happens.

Are you the author of the Pillman book or is that someone else? If it's you, awesome book!

The only thing better than a Cody win here would be Christian coming out for a post-match brawl with Cody. Two of the best workers in the entire business in a hot feud would be instant money.

Since I think very highly of my takes on Pac, I'll take that as a compliment.

Hot take: Cody should and will win. He's a real star with endless crossover appeal. Black wasn't special in NXT, wasn't special in WWE, and isn't special in AEW. He's a big man who can do some movez - big deal!

Brutal. AEW misread the room on this one.

Pillman Jr. needs to work on expressing anger better. MJF is abusing Julia Hart and Pillman Jr.'s all "rah rah babyface." MJF winning quickly and cleanly is a very unsatisfactory result. Meh.

Pillman Jr. really needs to win this and become a "made man." But he won't because they're all-in on MJF, and I get why, but still.

Fun match, but it really felt like more of a taste, a teaser, which isn't the worst thing in the world. Didn't feel like 30 minutes (in a good way).

WWE TV 09/20 - 09/26 New Day vs Bloodline YESSIR
Is anyone getting a GLOW vibe from NXT 2.0?

Why is Kushida wearing Time Splitters gear? Alex Shelley isn't there. Did I miss a teased heel turn angle?

No sign of Von Wagoner though, which is surprising.

Dark Side of the Ring
- AEW Dynamite - Sept 15 2021
I just googled it, and maybe I'm mistaken. It comes from El-P (not the PWO poster) calling Ospreay the "Autistic Assassin" in a promo.- AEW Dynamite - Sept 15 2021
Plus, isn't Ospreay autistic? We really shouldn't hold him to neurotypical standards. I am not saying he has a free pass to be excused from any bad behavior - just that there's an additional layer and lens to look through when examining his words and actions. Edit: I just googled it, and maybe I'm mistaken. It comes from El-P (not the PWO poster) calling Ospreay the "Autistic Assassin" in a promo.- Dark Side of the Ring
Finally watched the episode... Everyone has already mentioned Flair, Dreamer, and Brock - and rightfully so. Dreamer's bullshit - "she should've pursued this to the fullest extent of the law," or whatever the hell he said - was particularly odious. Fuck him. I think Scott Hall gets too much of a free pass just because he was an out-of-control alcohol who claims he can't remember anything from the flight, but that's just me. I'm surprised no one is really mentioning just how badly Mike Chioda came across. He acted like jock-sniffing frat boy who either wasn't smartened up that the show wasn't going to be a "comedic" stroll down memory lane, or - worse - he apparently views the whole thing as a crazy adventure and "boys will be boys." Dumb as bricks and tone deaf to boot - that's Chioda in a nutshell. Whatever happened there, Coach deleted the tweets and admitted he was wrong.- All Elite Wrestling

I'm 100% unfamiliar with Tommy Dreamer as a controversial, divisive figure. What else has he said? Does lend credence to the story my friend told me about overhearing Dreamer shout the n-word in public.- Dark Side of the Ring
That's horrifying. My guess is AEW has Dustin (and maybe J.R.) do damage control so they can still bring Flair in.- Dark Side of the Ring
Flair sure as shit doesn't help himself here: https://www.postwrestling.com/2021/09/14/ric-flair-comments-on-dark-side-of-the-rings-plane-ride-from-hell-episode/ Taking a "whoa is me" approach sure is...something.- Dark Side of the Ring
I'm sure you're correct. My reply was based on what @joeg described. I have not seen the episode yet.- Dark Side of the Ring
So, nothing new then, beyond the flashing? We all knew about that a decade ago. Not defending it - of course not - but it won't change AEW's plans one bit IMO.- Dark Side of the Ring
I originally posted that they can and should ignore this because most wrestling fans will turn a blind eye to Flair's "bad behavior" (something I still think is true). But that was before I started reading about the episode and the new details that have apparently come to light. Edit: I'm reading Twitter now (I haven't seen the episode yet). Did Flair sexually assault someone? Yeah, that's not good at all, if that's what happened. I was under the impression that he just pulled his dick out and flashed everyone on the plane - not that that's much better, granted. Regardless, if he shows up, I still think he'll get a monster pop. Wrestling fans, by and large, are very hypocritical and tend to give a free pass to their favorites IMO. - AEW Dynamite - Sept 15 2021
