AEW All Out 2021 - September 5, 2021
I'm with you. Drove me crazy when people on PWO referred to Andrade as Sombra for years afterward (to use one example), while I'd be thinking: "No, he's no longer Sombra and hasn't been for a very long time. Get with it, people!!!"

AEW All Out 2021 - September 5, 2021
I've been talking up Christian for months and talking down PAC for years. On this show, Christian is in the main event and PAC is nowhere to be found (hope he's okay if it's Covid though!), so I put my money where my mouth is and ordered it.

Good news for anyone who hates Bleacher Report.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Like NXT UK, they were hoping to branch out with NXT Japan and other NXT territories in various parts of the world.

No disdain whatsoever for Impact. It currently has the best World Champion in all of wrestling. I'm just realistic about Impact's place in the market. It's not as big as WWE, as hot as AEW, or as important as NJPW. After that, you get into Impact, ROH, NWA, etc. indie level - feds that have been cooled off and have very little buzz outside of the occasional exception. (Where Impact ranks among the ROHs and NWAs of the world is for other people to debate.) That, of course, doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't enjoy Impact - you absolutely should - especially since, like I said, Christian is the #1 World Champ in the biz. My point was simply, if PAC were a free agent now, would he really get a second glance by AEW when Bryan Danielson, potentially Adam Cole, and others are all available? Aiden English is great, but he's not the type who would be scooped up by AEW - and he wasn't. Impact got him, and that feels right. Ditto for W. Morrisey. PAC would be in the same boat. Even Matt Cardona only got a limited number of dates with AEW (which turned out to be for the best, because he is killing it now with his new persona in GCW).

Not hatred - just apathy. If PAC was a free agent now instead of at the beginning of AEW, he'd be in Impact instead - like Aiden English, etc. I won't criticize travel issues during a pandemic, but it's not the first time for he's had to miss out on a major All Out match. I feel bad for his fans, because it's impossible to invest in him. Are they replacing PAC with anyone? Someone told me Andrade will be facing a mystery opponent instead. No idea if that's true, but if it is, almost anyone they could put in that slot would be a bigger deal and make for a better match.

R.I.P. Shannon Spruill (Daffney Unger)
This one sucks. Suicide. She was only 46.

One of the best and most valuable AEW signings ever - both on and off-screen. He's worth a million PACs, Hagers, and Spears. Boy, I bet Tony wishes he hadn't wasted money on those guys (and, yes, I defended Spears at first, but woof).

NWA Powerrr
They should've sent Eddie Kingston through the Forbidden Door. He's an NWA Powerrr original and now a much bigger star, so it would've been perfect.

AEW Dynamite - August 25, 2021
I think they're off Twitch now and on YouTube for a subscription fee, but I could be wrong. The first Impact I watched in forever was Omega's first appearance. I was decidedly bored and underwhelmed by the majority of the show and never went back. Omega and Callis were dynamite (no pun intended - well, maybe a little bit), but most of the other wrestlers seemed bush league in comparison. There were a couple of standouts, but I can't remember who. Maybe Moose, Eric Young, and Tenille Dashwood? Edit: Here are my posts after I watched the episode.

AEW Dynamite - August 25, 2021
Wyatt going from WWE Champion to Impact would be a hard fall from grace. How matter how well you like the Impact product, it's not a major league organization and hasn't been considered one in forever. Yeah, he'd probably get a blank notebook to do whatever the hell he wants - which I can see being appealing for such a creative free spirit - but with 1/10th of the budget, how well can his vision really be realized? I know Matt Hardy did a lot with the Broken Universe, but even that incarnation of Impact was a different company than the one that exists now.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Same verbiage here. Are these interviewers being fed these ridiculous lines? https://itrwrestling.com/interviews/interview-with-jonathan-gresham/ I've never seen Gresham wrestle, and I probably never will if he remains an ROH lifer as this interview hints he will, so I have no horse in the race.

A Roster Crunch Is Coming
No, no, NO, NO, NO! Fuck this stupid, tone deaf, was never a good idea, WWE bullshit. AEW will do what it has been doing all along and not renew certain contracts when they're up. They also have relationships with other feds through the Forbidden Door and can send top stars like Christian to Impact for a bit and youngsters to other territories for seasoning.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
He could still be there. House shows in WWE are rarely canon. As far as 99% of fans are concerned, it is goodbye if he's not on TV.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Not to pick nits, but she was never Cena's wife. Cena wanted no marriage and no kids, remember? They did eventually "get engaged" at WrestleMania, but that fizzled out. Anyone who watched Total Divas - even as fake as that show was - knew they couldn't last.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Quoting this from another thread: It turns out Ariel Helwani's agent used to be - drumroll - Nick Khan. So, I expect this to be a regular arrangement going forward - similar to Peter Rosenberg, Sam Roberts, etc.

NXT TakeOver 36 Triple H's last stand
Joe hasn't wrestled in, what, two years? Of course he looked a bit rusty and shaky. He was still good enough to "karrion" Kross to a decent match. He'll be fine.

NXT TakeOver 36 Triple H's last stand
Adam Cole has never done much for me either, but his in-ring the other week with Kyle O'Reilly exposed how bad and goofy O'Reilly is on the mic and how polished and professional Cole is - dare I say, a great actor.

NXT TakeOver 36 Triple H's last stand
Feel bad for Cole and O'Reilly having to follow WALTER-Dragunov. The placement of this match, the fact that it wasn't the main event, and Cole's loss all strongly indicate that he's gone after this. I guess we'll see.

NXT TakeOver 36 Triple H's last stand
Should be a squash IMO. Joe shoulder tackles Kross, Kokina Clutch, tapout. Kross is done.

These women are all hard workers, but we're far away from the charisma and breakout appeal of the Horsewomen.

NXT TakeOver 36 Triple H's last stand
Good match! The Million Dollar Championship is back where it belongs, baby!!! Kross and Knight would be a jobber tag team on Jakked and Metal if I had anything to say about it, Bubba.
